dont want to breed more pirates that previously didn't know about torrents and having a vid like that on youtube would do just that. Good work on dealing with that quickly
I am going to sound like a total newb but is this rt4x or just 4x?
It is a Grand strategy game http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_strategy_wargame [link="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_strategy_wargame"]WWW Link[/link]

I'll have to pick this game up after I get done with my country in EU3. The whole series is great.

Game looks amazing :D . I am so happy there will be a public beta in the summer, I assume it will be open to all those that preorder just like the stardock's other games and hopefully not a release on fileplanet beta(those attract kiddies and those not serious about the game).
And Steam-like features will make setting up and finding multiplayer games that much easier. Only if people were to use them. I never use steam's community stuff -- ever. Why should I? I have yahoo, I have MSN, thats all I need / want. I sure don't want a huge memory / bandwidth hog (if a patch is released) sitting in the background, deciding what I can / can not do.ICO is plenty to get games going, if people are on it. Otherwise... vent and MSN works great for my guild!

It's interesting how they have Hillary and McCain in center front of the box cover. I like it! (I'm not an Obama fan)
meh doesn't really matter about the placement of the candidates they are all on the box. We all know you hate Obama, for lols check out: [link="http://www.massgate.net/read.php?39452,165601"]WWW Link[/link] So I take it you want play as Obama then, not even once?

Oh nice, I always wanted to try political machine, never got around to it but i'll be sure to pre order and play this one. Politics are always fun.

Ahh good ole Kruelgor stirring up trouble in these forums just like he did in WIC. I personally dont think he is a bad guy, very arrogant but he has a great sense of humor :)
Okay.. So they should of instead kicked you out when you accomplished building a capital ship?
You can do that within the first few minutes of the game :) They have to put a limit somewhere, or else you could play on randomly generated medium maps all day long without actually buying the game. Like others have said the demo serves its purposes in seeing if the person will like the game enough to purchase it.

I would've personally increased it by 30 min. but I think Stardock has the right strategy in sparking interest in the game and just before you get to conquer the galaxy....it is time to buy! Also think about, some people could just download the demo and play random medium maps without ever having any intentions of buying the game. So they would basically be getting a big part of the game for free.
However, if the parts of the game I care about (AI and diplo, in this case) are not in working order, everything else is kind of for naught, frankly. If it's not a good single player game, it's a waste of my money to buy.
Both AI and diplomacy are in "working order" but they could both be improved. Neither are broken or prevent you from playing the game
Blair Fraser : Of everything mentionned here the point I agree most strongly with is: yes, Sins diplomacy needs serious work and we will be re-doing it (probably for the expansion). Blair Fraser : Diplomacy went out the way it is because we liked it and hardly anyone complained about it - it is NOT broken, it is working as intended.Aren't these two statements contradictory? If it's working exactly as intended, why does it 'need serious work'?
Basically, the system serves its

Congrats guys! About the free updates as "copy protection"....brilliant method but I think you guys should try to perfect it. Right now anybody can go onto fileshack and download patch 1.03. I thought it was supposed to be for people with a valid CD key only?
Paragraphs are friends. Do not fear them.
I'm going to have to agree. Bigdogfeet if you want to get your point across better, write in good paragraphs so it isn't a block of text that is a pain to read. Take note of how people like boxox separate their paragraphs and how readable they are.
1.03 was nice, yes. But the chat system, I think, is widely agreed to be a step back. =P
As a former WoW player I disagree, it feels like home lol ;)
My suggestions to you:a) actually read the reviews instead of just looking at scores.b)
Do this! We can tell you only looked at the score because reviewers actually talk about what is good in the game and what they didn't like. In doing this you would have read about all the complaints you have in the game(such as they talk about long games in every review). Sorry you made a bad decision but you simply cannot be compensated for your ignorance, from the game developers at least
it will not let you play games you buy in a box without being online (even for single player).Sure it will. I play nearly all my Steam games offline (with the obvious exception of TF2).You two are talking at cross-purposes. He's referring to the need to "validate" your install online (AKA: you have to have internet access), your talking about the ability to play off line once thats done (AKA once you've validated, you are, in theory, fine).Maybe I have missed something, but when I had Por
No thanks. With Sins's success so far, and the coming replacement of SDC with something better, I think I can say we've only just begun to fight Steam
oh now i'm really curious, please do tell

I love steam and i'm glad a lot of publishers are moving their games to it. Not to mention it allows great small indie games games like Audiosurf to get exposure. That said there is absolutely no reason for stardock to put their game on steam as long as they have stardock central. SDC is a great service but just doesn't have as many games or the exposure that steam has. If SDC had a community feature like steam, as much games as it has, etc I would use that in a heartbeat. I'm curious
Beta? Because the game has few a.i. issues? Uh-huh......
lol I agree, I hate when people throw that term to describe a game too often. Sins is a very very polished game but not perfect. It is constantly being updated with patches too. Now saying you are paying for beta would have been accurate months ago, sins is still a quality product, more so many titles on the market today.
