Don't you get a "Jonathan Swift" like feeling about this post? It is so juvenile and poor that any gamming community would be better off without someone like this. You have to wonder if it is not an intentional post, written by someone trying to drum up support for Stardock, its policies, or Sins. I cannot figure out why someone would make such an intentional post other than boredom. This is sad in this age of wonder we live in.

I agree with the previous poster that the sins of the solar empire refers to the TEC's mistreatment of the advent as well as their slide into apathy due to their single minded pursuit of money. Both of these sins have come back to haunt them, as sins tend to do. I beleive it also applies to the Advent that have sinned by commiting sins against nature in order to achieve thier advanced mental powers. It is also the sins of the Vasari that have wacked off what ever is chasing th

Please keep in mind that if you choose to update your previous saved game will no longer be playable. You should consider updating as the game is much improved. and yes, take over your entire star first, maybe garrison at your star, build static defenses on each planet connected to your star, including the pirate planet while moving on to the next star. Look for a planet you can take over in the new system and build at least 2 frigate factories and alot of culture.

GoJoe2400 I think this may be much easier than it first appears. Most restaurants are willing to offer you another entree if you are dissatisfied with the one you purchased. It is the restaurant's decision and not yours as the patron. You do not have a legal right to an additional meal. This is not stealing. You do not have the right to enter the restaurant's kitchen and take someone else's entree. When you steal software you have not been given permission from the software

Good catch the retroboy. Some of the posts appear to agree with Radio420's justification for stealing. Carbon16 I can not figure out if your post is refering to Radio420 being condenscending or the retroboy. I did not read anything condenscending in the retroboy's post, it is a fact that radio420 is stealing. Taking someone's property without paying for it easily meets the definition of stealing. He knows it is wrong which is why he states his justification and then seeks appla

It does not seem to fit your play style but i have found the AI very competitive on small maps, like Entaglement. They quickly gang up on you very early on and you find yourself defending alot, until you can defeat them in a decisive battle to buy some time to go on the offense. I have never found any 4X game AI very competive on big maps. You may find a smaller game lasts longer than you would think.

Thanks for the tips, I was especially wondering if you could bribe the ai and am glad to find out that that does not work.

It looks like I am going to lose my first game of SINS to the AI. My thought is it is due to not paying attention to diplomacy. I am playing a small system with 2 AI hard Random. I seem to be wedged between them, 1 Vasari, 1 Advent and I am TEC. They are constantly attacking me and after I had some early naval victories I have been kept on the defense, running from system to system to fend them off and have been ground down. I opted to build ma
Everyone is sure you are just whining because you wanted a free game.
I think the developers point rolfski is that you did get a free game. The demo-game is capable of being completed in 90 minutes. If the games shuts-off prior to completing you lose. IMHO this is extremely fair by the game developers. I believe you may be mistake as to most players motivation at playing a demo. The reason they play a demo is to help them to determine if the game is worth the exchang

It would be nice when a player's avatar picture gets broken if a sound like broken glass would be heard. It would be simple, alert the player that a player had been eliminated, and would be cool. I watched the screen to see what happened when the glass got broken and think the additon of sound would be an improvement.

I would also like the PJI to function as it did in the beta, preventing a ship from exiting until it was destroyed. Then an aa structure to counter enemy fighters and bombers without having to use ship slots to leave flak frigates at planets to counter this threat. Currently there is no defensive counter to enemy bombers except filling your defensive slots with fighter bases which use a fair amount of slots. Perhaps fighters could take up less space than bombers in a base, say 5 fight

I'm in favor of a pro-rated fleet cap based on the size of the map. What players in this thread appear to be asking for is to be able to grow their empire by leaving a defense fleet in their system. Otherwise the game does become a "wack-a-mole" which will not be a good thing for the game's replay value. These players are not attempting to amass a great smack down fleet, but a fleet equal to what they will be facing in the new system, while leaving a defensive fleet in their existing systems.

Sometimes the AI divides its fleet. What if you attack two of the advent worlds, maybe with siege frigates, buy yourself some time to either build a 2x to 3x flak frigate fleet or a fighter carrier fleet. Use your caps and new heavy cruisers to destroy his carriers once the sky is clear.

I like the simple pirate timer as is. Its elegant and adds suspense to the game as it ticks away. I think the pirates providing a "deadline" :) makes good business sense. It reminds me of an evil version of Ebay with everyone trying to bid at the last moment.

I just finished my first game of post patch sins and the pirates served as an allie and not a serious problem. I was playing on medium and in the small random system. Here is what I did. Build sufficent Civic research centers to obtain the Trade Port. I needed this for two reasons. First I wanted to have more credits that my ai opponent so that I could hire the pirates to attack him. They devastated him. If you think you have probelms defending against pirates you should

I agree then you could scrap ships you did not need to increase your economy. I also wonder if this will criple the ai that had expanded and once had maintained a large fleet, but was now losing. The constant drain on resources may prevent the ai from rebuilding its fleet to ever put up another fight.

Did I read in the last Beta that fighters were more effective at destroying turrets? I could not figure out why this would be, maybe someone could explain.

In the beta the pirate base could be taken over with culture alone. Then it became a source of steady income. Colonize the world closest to the pirate world, build a couple broadcast centers, when your culture reaches it the pirate base is yours. I have not had the opportunity to play the "real game" yet but if this works it will twist your thinking on the pirates 180 degrees, from a liability to an asset.

What about the game manual? Will the downloaded version have the game manual? If not can this be purchased along with the box?
