How about this as a solution. Copy a TEC game voice clip that you like ("copy that tac com") Rename it 'CapitalShip_TechSiege_OnAttackIssueOrdered_0' Remove the offending voice clip Paste the new one in the sound folder This may allow you to play MP if you like. I end of doing this on 4X games. I do not like the Marza or the "What Now Commander" which I think is carrier. Sounds like I'm putting him out and a

I have experienced something simliar for the first time with the basic 1.13 version of the game. I have forwarded the saved game to the developers. This was a hard ai that was an allie. We had captured 4 enemy ai worlds together and when it came time to go after number 5, my allie stopped taking suggestions. It had amased its largest fleet ever, more than enough with or without my fleet to take the next world. When I requested it attack the enemy ai world, it rep
How about each pirate raid has a random chance for something different happening. Like an ancient space ship on auto kill, or a space monster that attacks your system instead of the pirates. If you destroy it you get something special. You could also populate the planets with some of these to add spice to the game. Instead of just rogue tec ships, how about a big space hydra. Basically use a cap ship with a different model and effects.
In a current game of Maelstrom, 2X2X2, my allie and I were pounding on another ai race. My allie's fleet became quite large. With three worlds to go on one of the emeny ai empires, my allie quit accepting my recommendations and just sat with is fleet. He kept reponding, "on it, etc" but his fleet just sat there. I retarted the game as my allie and with his large fleet destroyed the last three worlds of the other ai race. I noticed he had numerous small

Bobucles, Does version 1.3 impact your strategy of parking flak frigates in the grav well prior to the rest of the fleet showing up inorder to chew up the ai's strke craft? Or is this just a general comment about the strategy of not building flak frigates leads to carriers being so effective?
That is very true, but being a newb as described by jhsmd I bet he falls for it. That would break the routine.
Your advent carriers full of nothing but fighters will put a hurting on him. An interesting strategy was proposed the other day to deal with carrier spam. Build a substantial flak fleet. Jump the flak fleet into the grav well ahead of your main battle fleet. Have it sit and it will be attacked by the strike craft and get mauled. Then phase jump the rest of your fleet in 30 seconds or so later. The enemy strikecraft should be decimated when you arrive.
Thanks so much, I will give it a try.[e digicons]|-)[/e]
If you're up against the AI, jump in your flak frigates about 30-60 seconds in front of the rest of your fleet. This will get them targeted first by every single fighter/bomber in the system. Good. Flaks have very high armor at a low cost, you WANT them to die first. Plus, this lets your flak use all 4 guns for maximum damage output. Typically squadrons are spread too far for flak to use the bulk of its damage, so this is a great advantage. As soon as the squadrons are thinned out(you'
Isn't pirating improved in 1.12. They used to attack the same planet over and over again. Now they seem to randomly pick from any of the closest planets. They were purely experience givers before that.
I agree with you Shadowhal but have nothing to disagree with FlyGuy. When you try to be all things for all people you end of not accomplishing anything or "bogging down" the game in minutia that many players find tedious. People complain as much about too much of this and that as they do not enough of something. I think if certain aspects of the game are increased (improved?) like diplomacy, hopefully many of these new features will continue to be choices for playe

Do you beleive them to worthwhile?
And keep in mind that the change in overall build time is not a 17%/33% reduction. To find the actual build time, perform the calculation t/(1+R), where t is the normal build time and R is the researched increase in construction rate (either 0.17 or 0.33).
huh, never would have guessed that. So 33% is really 25%. Example: 100(seconds)/1.33 = 75. Still a great deal I think.
There are plenty of Military Research strategies found on the forum but not much seems to have been written on Civilian Research. Anyone want to share what civilian techs they research and why?
I have not been paying much attention to the policy section of the Civilain research tree but after a recent post on another civilain tech I thought I should take a second look. I noticed the first tech available under the Policy group to be Expedited Permits. For a modest price it provides a 33% increase in the construction of structures. Does anyone know if this is all structures, including Tactical structures? If so filling a planet's tactical slots on a key pla
Yes, you must bombard, but culture will raise the credit revenue once you have colonized the base.
You may want to reconsider pirates. My expereince is that 25 tac slots will smear any pirate raid. Put your new cap ship, say maybe a marza, in the grav well where the pirates are being dismantled and the cap ship will get all the experience for destroying the entire pirate fleet. This will elevate your cap ships quickly. Pirates are basically free experience for your caps. Also put your trade center infront of your planet defenses. It will draw them like
Even the ai, at least on hard, moves out of the aoe if its getting hit by the barrage. Its like when R Kelly peed on that girl. The courts found it was perfectly ok to pee on her, since if she didn't want to be peed on she could have gotten out of the way. So if you do not want to get peed on, move out of the aoe.
Actuly no. What will happen is that the enemies fighter will indeed go againts your bombers caussing lots of damage. But in the same time your fighters will be going after his fighters. Meaning that his fighter will be taking huge loses from yours becasue they are currently bussy hunting down bombers. This can actuly give your the upper hand if your were numericaly inferior to your enemy in carriers. But still it a question of how much to ahve ofve each. 1/4 to 1/3 bombers is a respect
All fighter squads are chasing that one fighter that appears again so they r never free to attack anything else.
You could select your fighters and choose a better target.
Why can I not create a reply on the Marza thread? I can on other threads. How can it be broken and the rest of the site work? Is it just me, it looks like the last entry got cut off. Was it just too much great content to be contained in a single post?[e digicons][/e]
Since the Missle Barrage is an AOE weapon, I assume it moves with the Marza during its 15 seconds of stardom?
Put a Marza in a bikini and it will still barrage your fleet to death. Wait, what are we talking about again?
Agreed, We have reached consensus! By the way, if you put Halle Berry in a bikini in a Marza it will still barrage your fleet.
