Thanks to everyone that replied. The information is greatly appreciated. I foolishly kept trying to capture them with warships and no matter how many capital ships I sent at them... they kept sneering at me.

Asteroid fields and capturing metal extractors in Sins of a Solar Empire Sins Forums

I'm new to Sins of a Solar Empire and I've played a couple of 1v1 games against the computer and have managed to figure out many of the basic elements of gameplay. However, some asteroid fields and other locations have asteroids and metal extractors but aren't colonizable. The extractors say they are invulnerable, but they can be captured. But I have been unable to find any way to capture them. I feel certain that it must be a simple thing that I'm over looking, but it
