As advent, I love to use the Hanger Defense and research the tech that gives you TWICE the number of ships in a hanger defense. @General Homsar, Awesome Katana-Class frigate. The Berlin is also impressive with that hangar bay :CONGRAT: . But how do you achieve that nose section? It looks sharper than the standard Terran medium hull nose disc-thing(used on the Flagship). Or is it just the glossy black paint scheme that makes it look sleeker? Anyway, here are some more designs I'd like to present: 1. F-99 Blitz fighter squadron - Made with Kryo's Hull System Mod This was no

The only economic boosts Evil gets are the Mind Control Center and the useless "freighters passing through your influence pay 1 bc per turn" thing. It was Rare-Planets, Rare Habitables, Rare Stars. Everyone had 2 planets(their homeworld, and a same-system planet). The tech-trade thing is possible, but the Maso AI hasn't done it much before. In the last 3 Maso games, by the time one of the AIs tech-rushed to Industrial Sectors and sold it to everyone, it was late first year and I had enough money and/or tech to buy a bunch of well-aimed proxy wars and put an end to that problem. This time, I didn't tech fast enough with me sp

I've tried putting a point into Creativity a few times in the past on DA, but it never amounted to anything benefits that I could see in-game. But that was at Fast tech. Does it give any bigger advantage at Slow/Very Slow tech? If so, how?
Anyone who's been with us since the Galactic Civilizations days knows that we take feedback responsible. Heck, the starbases in GalCiv came from player feedback! Can anyone whose played GalCiv imagine GalCiv without the starbases now? But the people who suggested starbases didn't start out by saying "This game sucks, only adding starbases will save it."
Rock on. Now starbases are not only an integral feature of the game, with the famous 24 Military Starbase Array being s

The "Alpha Strike"(who coined that term?) is so deadly because the strikecraft rev up in <5 seconds and strike for what would be a hellish amount when converted to DPS from the start of the engagement, while ships spend more time to close range before they fire their first shot and settle into the normal DPS calculation of damage/cool-down. After the initial pass, strikecraft also settle into the attack/cool-down pattern, making a pass every 12(Fighters) to 13.5(Bombers) seconds, which is why th

Guerrilla Warfare is very possible. There are two tactics that are especially guerrilla-style: 1. Research the Tier 3 TEC Military tech 'Timed Explosives'. This gives your Arcova Scouts the ability to place time bombs on enemy structures for a whopping 1200 damage apiece. So make a pack of 10 scouts for only 2000 credits, send them deep into enemy territory, and inconspicuously place 5 bombs on 2 labs before beating the hell outta there as the labs blow up and catch your opponent
Last night against AI I fought my Evacuator (L6 or 7) and assailants versus his Radainc e(L2) and disciples. I had tier 5 phase missiles, he had steal AM. He completely ripped my cap ship apart. I assume it was the Radiance doing all the damage; my guy went down ridiculously fast. Right after the Evacuator died my planet killer cap warped in, and as it was only L1 it lasted a hot second. I was just letting my assailants shoot his disciples though, which I won't be doing next time. F
The article linked claiming there's no stealth in space purely talks about drives, I pointed out you don't thrust. Thereby negating that entire argument. It kind of works like this, any drive entering a system will be seen for donkeys. It also gives means such large and obvious momentum means even if you shut off WAY out, it's not hard to figure out where you'll be. So inbound craft need to use planetary bodies for slingshots and then shut off the drive. This turns the incoming trajectory

@Above post, Try reading the Detection and Weapons articles I posted. There is no stealth in space, that site makes a good argument why. Missiles obviously won't have stealth, but they will be maneuverable, longer-ranged in comparison to DE weapons, and deal a bigger boom. The DE point defenses have to keep the beam on the missiles, which means they'd have to have lots of complex ball-turrets and targeting comps at least as powerful as the missiles' ECCM. And if the missiles o
This early-middle game is quite crystal heavy, especially the initial setup of defenses. You may not have enough crystal to put out a sizable Defense Vessel fleet. If this is the case, don't be afraid to build disciples. They die fast, but they are cheap; run them behind your opponents LRMs to make them waste time turning to retarget you, while your Defense Vessels and fighters beat them down. Note that disciples, if ignored, can do at least some damage to LRMs, or more importantly, cap s

The biggest problem with Phasic Cloaking is it's cost, at Tier 4. If it was Tier 1, it would be fine since, on larger(multi-star) maps at least, neutrals would still be around and there would still be places to search and free asteroids to capture. On Tier 4, it's useless. So the Jikara Navigator costs 25 cash, 25 metal and 1 supply point more than the other scouts, and doesn't have any special attack like the Arcova's time bombs and the Seeker's suicide ram. Instead it can capture neu

1. To a certain point(the mitigation cap), you get diminishing returns. After that, mitigation goes no higher and more fire can be piled on for no further penalty. 2. Damage mitigation is mentioned in the manual, but I'm not sure if it actually exists. The hull already gets mitigation from Armor, so I do not understand why it would need another layer of defense. 3. Focus fire is in fact better because mitigation WILL eventually cap out no matter what unless
