For the Federations' technological development, and how they designed said technology, the 'saucer' shape was the best shape and fit for them for the best warp field. Each race is different in how they invented their technology and how they wanted to use it, regardless of the same basic principles, such as warp fields. Zephram Cochrane first's ship (the Phoenix as shown in First Contact) wasn't saucer shaped at all, and in fact was an old nuclear missile body but it still worked for h

This is just simply amazing. Bugs and balance's aside, this is amazing. You guys have done such a great job! *Edit* Didn't mean anything negative about the bugs and balances, this mod totally rocks no matter what.
Sigh.. They couldn't have updated the mesh and texture limits a month or two ago when all of this started? lol. Seems almost like a good example of closing the barn door "after" the horse escaped. *Self-Correction* I guess I should have thought it all the way through first. At the time, they probably didn't realize the scope of the limits implaced by the textures and mesh's being what they were. Guess it's gotta break first before you know what to fix. Sorry, seem to be in a reta
Lol. I always figured that the Borg just gave up on assimilating us. After multiple attempts to assimilate the Federation and then trying to go back in time even, and assimilate us in the past, we've defeated them time after time again. Even more so if you want to include Voyager's efforts in the delta quadrant. Instead of assimilating us, they probably deem us as something only to destroy now. The Borg tend to use the "scorched earth" policy an awful lot. "If we can't have it, then w
Wow... simply wow.
I seriously am very excited by this. Everything sounds nothing short of amazing. Great job to you all for sticking with it and trying to make something fun and worth playing again and again. Lol. I literally check the boards every single day just for even a hint of gossip on it. lol. Sigh.. I'm a geek.
Oh great. A yellow alert now? At Christmas? There is never a crisis when it's slow or dull. Or in June. lol. Ah still. Eagerly anticipating.
I personally loved DS9. It's by far my favorite. I think that the first couple of seasons started off a bit slow, and towards the end of the second season, some of the storylines were getting a little blandish. With the addition of the Defiant however, at least for me, things started getting better and better. The inclusion of the DW was perhaps my most favorite part. They didn't just throw it in there as a filler. It really became the background for at least 3 full seasons of the show.
Oiy, this is going to prove my geekiness. Voyager's warp nacelles were designed to move to create a more efficient warp field and thus help to curb the damage done to the space time contiuum from normal warp engines (TNG Episode "Force of Nature #160). The nacelles, through moving, allowed to ship to go over the "Interstellar Speed Limit" of Warp 5. *Correction - The nacelles didn't "allow" the ship to move over warp 5, they just made it possible for the ship to not damage spa
Also agreed.
I grew up with TNG and then moved on from there. I agree Spartanz1170 in that I like all the incarnations of the Enterprise as well. From the original all the way to well, I guess it's the original again. Damn time travel. I had an issue with the weapons on the new movie ships. Way too disrupt
This may and well be my first post on these boards. I remember making my account and then I just kind of forgot about it. My experience with SoA2 actually started about 4 days before the new patch that pretty well screwed things to hell. I must say that SoA2 is one of the best mods I have ever played. It's extremely well done and every time I play it, I'm consistently amazed at how well it was put together. Does your team accept donations at all Major Stress? I'm not above paying for somethin
