bluntly, this game is extremely unrealistic. Any pretense of realism went out the airlock years ago in the name of playability. Just look at the planet/star size scales, and you'll see what i mean. That said, the most "realistic" space game I've seen was Nexus, and even then, it had it's "pffffff, no way" moments. To address the OP's question though, if they're doing research on alien artifacts, nanotechnologies, drive technologies, anything involving a weapon, or anything involving sec
Defenses exist to delay and deter, not to bunker up a planet such that it's invincible. They were never meant to stop a moderately determined force, moreso just insurgents or small to medium pirate attacks, and give enemies something to occupy them until you can get reinforcements there to defend.
I see your point.. but shouldn't "delay and deter" actually be worth something? i'd say boost the PJI's so it takes a significant
more to the point, it's a PSIONIC ability. many of the advent abilities are. they're basically warping the ships crews perception of reality to suit the advents needs, over a short duration. suck it up, it makes sense.
question for the stardock guys, does the $20 in shipping get it delivered to Canada?
Didn't the offer to order a copy for you?
heheheeheeeeheeeeehahahahaHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. no.
Canada is slightly delayed in getting it it seems. The bigger stores should be getting it in next week, though. I'd expect EB would at least let you special order for the next shipment as well.
when i asked the lads at EB if they expected to get another shipment, they said "we don't". I left thinking "Gee, you guys are awfully useful sorts, eh?" Yeah, I'd say the retailers need to reexamine what was in their timmies
So far I've been to 2 EB games, wal-mart, and two best buys. net result; nothing. the Canadian best buy site doesn't even have Sins listed. In store, the EBs got one copy each, and immediately sold them. download isn't an option for me. so, what am i going to do? apparently, noone bothered to market the game in Canada, despite ironclad being based here.
The only reason most game stores exist is to rip people off with trade in prices. The only reason they carry new product is so people can trade in their games for it. If nobody shows interest in pre-ordering a title then they won't get extra copies. Go with digital distribution and help bury those miserable money whoring companies in the dirt.
do take into consideration that not everyone is in the same fiscal position, and that not
We thank you for your support! We hope we are living up to your expectations.
Ironclad games, have always lived up to expectations. ON THE OTHER HAND, i seriously doubt the wisdom of choosing stardock as a publisher. I've been looking for an in store copy of Sins ever since release day, and have heard the same story repeated dozens of times. one copy per store, sold as soon as it got out of the shippin
In a the proper, spherical environment of space combat, volume, relative velocity, and comparative axis would be MAJOR factors when assaulting a system. if the planet defenses are on the far side of the planet from you, obviously they would not be able to fire on your fleet. If you made it full 3d, these would all become large factors.
Cobber is the anti-proton variant of copper. if ever the two meet, they'll blow a hole in the space time continuum so big, the multiverse will shift on it's axis.
i'll add gears of war and mask of the betrayer to my list.
either way, super weapons are IN. can't stand them? get used to disappointment, cause i love them... they give me turtle targets who divert resources from useful techs.
Bow chicka bow wow..
*cackles manically* you call him a noob.. yet you yourself are noobish! behold! the TITANIUM SPORK! *holds aloft*
Bun-Bun is epic WIN.
Buggiest, most poorly balanced space combat game, i've yet to play. visually stunning, extremely interesting storyline, but practically unplayable due to bugged missions.
the only ones that interest me from that list? Call of Duty 4: Modern war ... see the reason? World in Conflict HL2:ep2 ... kinda sad that so many games are made, yet so few manage to be worthwhile.
*calls C'thuhlu from the depths to break your homer/spork tyrannies*
Look at it this way. from what i understand of the game mechanics as they stand, the novalith cannon is not much more than a glorified breaching cannon. it can fire as far as two jumps, which is impressive. but it's not game breaking, and a decent player shouldn't have problems countering it. and as far as C&C3 goes, trust me, if you're turtling and saving up for a superweapon, you'll lose 7/10ths of the time, to a faster more flexible opponent.
Of course the game will have super weapons, but they won't have unlimited range.. they shouldn't be able to fire on a different system.
