Never mind. This time, after about two hours, it suddenly started downloading at a reasonable speed. And then the update apparently worked. Whatever. I don't insist things make sense any more, as long as they work eventually.
So, I installed Sins last night and set myself up and tried to get the patches. Whee, now you have to get patches through Impulse, so I have to install another piece of 'we own your life if you want to play our games'-ware on my system. Fine. Whatever. I'll just uninstall it once I have the patch. Or so I think. So I retrieve my account info, sign in, download Impulse, set it up, start it, authenticate, and go to the 'Updates' tab, where it says there is
