So, week 1 done, very happy, but there's a few things i'd like to see and was wondering how to go about getting them. never done any modding before but happy to give it a go. what i want is: a) corrosive nebulae, slowly eat aways at you hull b) ion storms, disrupts sensors so you can only see 1/4-1/2 of a GW c) astroid fields, 1-10% of you fleet gets smashed in by a rock d) suggestions on similar basically i want space to be hazadous, one of my best mome

I belive you only ally to a person if you team up in game, i.e. just them and not everyone their allied to. in which case one person could win by alliance even if everyone else is just allied to him. if it's not like that, then i think it's a good idea, i own the IP, and it'll cost to implement. a cookie shall surfice. =P
if you right click on their scout ability it'll turn auto on (you can do this for pretty much everything). that way they'll always keep moving. if you mean something to use in battle, then your just gonna have to kepp'em peeled
i'll check how much it uses when i get home. that aside, RAM's pretty cheap and easy to install. i upgraded mine a couple of months back, 2GB (2 x 1GB, best to by the same modules rather than mix and match) was 30 pounds of ebay. it'll also improve the overall performace of you laptop. with stand-by and hibernate turned on i can cold boot into XP in about 30 secs, fully functional!
i've get the same issue, somtimes can't log on, can play if i do get online, but can't host. again that's running straight from the wall. i use ccleaner as it is and running a fairly fresh OS (last three months) without ever putting a firwall on. OP what's your ISP, i'm tiscali in the UK.
if i'm in, am in! 7 may be a bit tight. either way i'm looking for a chilled UK group.
I'm running this on the below laptop so check those numbers and see what your sites say. Operating System: Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.70GHz Memory: 2038MB RAM Page File: 2954MB available Audio: Realtek AC97 Audio Video: Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Display Memory: 128.0 MB DirectX 9.0x i haven't touched the ingame settings which default to high and it plays smooth, on and off line.
ok, updated, got online, got booted off, having problems connecting again. =(
yay! update! :)
no is the update out?
Hello, i'm currently unable to login. enter details, things grey out, wait, wait, msg: "Disconnected from ICO" i was palying over the weekend so i'm a bit stumped? any ideas? MrL
Ta guys, re: fireing arcs, do you know of any where i can find descriptions?
Hello, I'm typically a 4X player who liked sins for that aspect and the possibility of online play. despite a few glitches with online, hopefully to be fixed in 1.03, i'm really enjoying the game. one aspect that i'm wary of is that, reading the forums, micro can swing battles that would've been lost had both side been using the AI. this seems to be particularly true of Advent, again judging by the forum, who i actually play and like the most. with the above in mind, can any
the below should cover most your questions, but i think that most of it's covered in a tutorial. only way i can explain i understand as well as i do :) 1) select the ships, bottom right, second from right icon opens fleet options (hotkey 'f') then click the create fleet icon (hotkey 'f' again) 2) a) fleets can be pinned, so they're always in your empire map b) you can tell a fleet how spaced out you want it (tight, normal, loose) and the area you
I'm the UK, played several games online over the weekend, with people from USA, Oz, Netherlands. lag only seemed to be an issue if the host computer wasn't up to the job. e.g. people were starting to build up large fleets. things to be aware of are that if the host quits, the game ends, there's supposed to be a feature where the game migrates to another player to host, but i haven't seen this working yet. also if you fancy a game PM me.
Just to note that i was playing with my router earlier to get hosting working. failed, and played solo instead. just started to surf the web and found it really sluggish, checked my router and found in the log: **SYN Flood to Host** checked wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SYN_flood it's says it's a DoS attack. i locked of my port forwarding (port 6112) and all's good again. don't know much about this stuff, but my paranoid brain's saying someones found a weak link somewher
congratulations shockwave, you've just identified the gap between the helpful yet technical and the willing yet ignorant. unfortunately you've proven your self to be neither helpful or willing, just technical and ignorant. monk, thank you for taking the time to right your guide. i know computers, but i'm QA not a dev. so i know it's hard to get what's going on sometimes. i'm having the same problem, but with perseverance, i'll work it out thanks to the likes
