Just wondering if say you were to do a Star Trek Mod, if there are faction number limits. For instance Rome Total War supported a maximum number of factions, however their were still approx 20 of those. Back to Star Trek, are we stuck with Klingon, Federation and the other guys with the Warbirds? Or can we have the full swath.

not much point then. I like the enemy to see me coming in all my fleets magnificent glory mwahahahahah.. ha! Ignoring the laws of heraldry, I like a yellow striped grey bodied fleet. For my ground troops I like a dark military olive drab with a yellow stripe. White and yellow does not look too bad either, kinda angellic. I guess we will see it in an addon. P.S. Just to make a point though on this, I LAN regularly and guess what takes up most time in DOW and HW
Blair, thanks for that Thats no problem at all for me. However if I change the colours, will they be drawn correctly for other players. For instance I make a black and white fleet scheme, I play an 8 player game online with said scheme. Offcourse I should just try this myself
I asked a similar question amongst a whole bunch a little while ago. Let me explain. I think it would be great to have a colour table much like Homeworld or Dawn of War. THis gives an infinite variety of colours and symbols. It would also be great to actually be able to paint larger portions of the ships, atm I think its more like painting the trim rather than much else. Its ok the way it is, just would not mind some more variety, especially in the colour departmen
I really do not care. Beta5 is likely to be the pre-gold game with a lot of bug fixing and reporting to do. Basically, professional style troubleshooting, hours of regimented reporting. I do not think it will be about gameplay decisions and balance, or just aimless fun. Real BETA testing does not involve playing the game and stumbling upon something. It involves getting an allocated task to check and doing things repeatedly in that area to see if you can break it. Documenting everyth
As the title says, what will medium, hard and other difficulty settings do. Do the give: Statistical Advantages to the computer - such as their destroyers having more hull points than the human players Intelligence adbantages to the computer - the computer knows where you are and what you are doing AI routine advantages to the computer - the computer actually thinks better at higher levels and is capable of complex strategies.
I just finished a 5 star game vs AI and did notice that the spread slows after the first few planets. I also like the fact that at least vs the AI, it speeds the game up towards the end. I have a problem with the concept of Radio\media being so damned influential. Does anyone think Hollywood has converted China or Russia\korea? I don't think many people listen to propaganda\talkback ... its not too fun for most. Besides how popular would you be if you tuned into another country\empi
I also have problems dealing with the fact that unless you have radio stations of your own to counter you may aswell surrender. I don't like the fact that even after you bombard a planet into oblivion - no population left - the planet still refuses to let you colonise if under the influence of enemy radio stations. I mean what are my colonists, zombies, getting transed as they land listening to enemy radio stations. I love the idea of cultural influence and the system is fun to use, but
Its not only recolonisation though, its the continuous spread via radio stations. I have seen 5 planets in a row conquered by one measly station 6 planets away in a line. The AI at the moment cannot counter it, if it could that would be somewhat better.
thanks, i see. Problem for me is I was trying to edit before the page refreshed This game is an absolute diamond in the rough, I'm sure it will be huge when its released! I find myself even now coming back for more...... Newtonian Physic though ... that would have been a sight to see. But yes in RL its gonna be hard for admirals to impliment.... flying past their prey at a billiob miles an hours and turning to fire as
don't seem to be able to edit my posts atm. CAN NEWTONIAN PHYSICS BE TURNED BACK ON AS AN OPTION? this would be very cool.
nope just checked, they are cruisers I was talking about. Considering cruisers in real life are the same size as battleships this is strange. BTW - Are their any features at this late stage that have not been added or are planned? OR is this it as it stands in Beta 4? Especially with regard to diplomacy and trade. Also are the graphics for the pirate and other bulletins going to be updated? One other thing I would love to see is a colour palate when choosing faction colours, m
thanks guys but I think I used the wrong terminology. What are the mid sized ships that are waaaay up the tech tree called. They are the second ship menu in the first ship factory. iirc the Kodiak is one of them. Possibly Destroyers? The cruisers are in the capital ship factory I think. Damn, shame about the newtonian physics for maneover and true orbits I would have loved that.
Oh and emperor, most of the things suggest happen in real life. Fireships Boardings etc Homeworld2 seemed to do just fine for play balance with all of these ship types and functions. This game is a cross but I would still like to see more ship variety. At the moment its good but feels like maybe your gazillions of citizens only had an idea for one ship type. I want to be immersed by the amazing detail and variety of space in the SOSE universe. I want to see every planet
Yeah that was me. I was told no.
Now first of all congrats, a more polished game in BETA than some games are released to market with. I am enjoying the game 3D Formations - can we have some formations for the ships. Some tactical ones to set before jumping into battle. Ships just tend to face off at random or in a line, looks very artificial. Movement would be good. ATM they just stop and fire until one is dead. I could understand this a little more if the distance were greater but it is not Solar Systems - an
he likes to watch.
well that makes more sense. I just noticed its on the front page lol
is that 100hrs until the next beta?
I agree, this is a problem for me in some LAN games. Its a little like school, a pecking order ensues and the same peeps ally for no other reason than friendship. I am guilty of this sometimes, its just fun to fight alongside friends. However it can spoil a game as it gets repeditive. I however think if this is implimented it should be an option rather than the rule
why do the fleets look so disorganised? Its like 2 yr olds playing soccer No formations? Nothing.
most of the games in your list are not COOP like we are talking about. Dawn of War certainly is not.
thats because your a lone wolf... Really its lots of fun and much more unpredictable. For instance I might go on a wild cavalry charge with half our forces Or you might adapt the plan and attack a previously un-agreed target empire. More fun than the absolute control freaks who sit for hours on their own with zombies at their control.
I like the idea..... I played a game recently where you shared everything. THink it was cossacks2. Basically one concentrated on governing and the other battles. Was pretty cool to play and lots of cooperation during a lan.... was really fun talking about what we should do with the forces we had etc.
Divine Wrath I am more talking about whether or not the game, for beta testers atm, is repeditive after one or two games. There are classic games you keep coming back to, homeworld is one of those, and then their are games that simply lose your attention after one game. The reason is usually because the game is superficial in most areas. Once you have played one game, their is no longer anything to try in the second or third game and no complex stunning visuals to keep you going. Star Trek A
