I HATE SPIES!!!!!!!!!!! *begins shooting everyone in the room with a flamethrower*

^^Agreed! should we post this where it is more likely to be seen as an exploit and fixt?
Indeed! For those of us w/ high-speed always-on connections Digital DLing is definitely the way to go. But I shudder at the thought of DLing 2Gb over a 56k connection. *shudders*
don't sweat it too much, Emp. I got about half of your worlds when Shadow began steamrollering me. I was never really much in it either. That damn Culture rush had me worried for a second, though... :P
So.... will we get the fleet system to tinker with in a patch, or is it a release version only feature?
the release version will probably be the true final beta. =/
Im sorry but that statement is just a pile o' shit. How many betas have you participated in? Hell, How many games have you bought on release date recently? Seriously, This game is more playable in its current form than any other game I've played in the last 2 years. Ive had 0 (zero) CTD in playing extensively for 2 weeks. What bugs there are get aknowledged and squished by Dev team members promptly. I think its
FrostyAK, really, seriously, because many here on the forum are not English majors (or even native English speakers) you should EXPECT to find some of what you consider poor English, and really have no call for flaming about it. Much less insinuating illiteracy. Keep your arguments based on your logic, not grammatical fallacies. You detract from your own arguments when you descend to that level. PS. Ron and TGE above when making the quoted statements made perfect sense to me, and eve
I'd have no objection to Ron being in the game... After all, even Ron would be better than the AI! :P seriously looking forward to getting slaughtered tomorrow. Haven't had any time to brush up this week...
a... a r.... a real life ggg... g... GURLZ! pffff. impossible
HEY! howd you get out of my belly!?!?
ummm.... how to phrase this.... ... ever look down before you flush?
Sleep is for the weak!
SANITY is for the weak!!!! (fixt)
Missed the thread, great. thanks for the reply. Ill tinker about a bit, and post a screenie or two when I gets some time on my hands. Between Team Fortress 2 mapping and playing, and now Sins games and modeling, I seem to be creating alot of work for myself...
so... Quick question, I've read through both threads and am interested in playing around w/ this a bit, being a hobbyist modeler (Lightwave 3d btw). I don't see anything on a Luminosity texture layer, though. Looking through the screenshots and at models in game I can definitely see there is one, evidenced by "windows" on the dark side. Is that what the "data" texture refers to?

Really, Honestly, the selling point for me so far has been the UI. Simple intuitive, easy. Everything is just one click away. No digging into 5 levels of charts and graphs to finally find that one stat I need to know. Its all right at your fingertips. Hell, for most of it you don't even need to leave your main view. In short: Empire Tree = pure genius. Message boxes (sorted by category) = Saving my sanity. Dynamic Info-cards for EVERYTHING = 100% Pwn Sauce, (from conc
OK, OK, I know, there's very little time left. Additionally, I have no idea how much of the UI is final, but I have just one thing that kind-of nags at me... here goes. Ive found that once I have the resources available I like to open up the Tech tree and queue up as many techs as I can afford just to make sure I am always researching, but then later come back to the tree to check on thing, and have no Idea what is researching next, and in some cases have to search just to find what I
Opposed to a simple slider, which DOES affect balance as Ron explained, I would rather see a re-shuffling of the Tech Tree, (which iirc is already in the works) and making certain specific techs more time-consuming than others. i.e. the ship prototypes, building types and other core features necessary for ANY empire research quickly, while the empirewide bonuses like damage increases and Resource mining rate increases take a significant investment in time, forcing players to choose EITHER one O
It may be you just need to change the way you use your flak frigs... When left on their own, flak frigs tend to sprint forward towards the bombers, while the bombers will take losses from flying by, that still leaves the bombers time to make 2 passes on your caps while the frigs are trying to get back. But, with the Frigs set to follow your cap, and left on "Local Area" stance, they stay put and attack fighters just as they come into range, then follow far enough to spank the fighters as they
So, If were taklking about changing the Travel Times, can we be a little more specific? do you mean in-system, phase Jumping, Jump Charging, or an overall increase? Personally, I like the Phase Jumps speeds as they currently exist, but it is very annoying to have a fleet tied up for 10 mins circumventing a star to make another jump. So I would increase ship speeds inside a Grav well, leave Phasing the same to still give players adequate warning, and possible increase Jump Charge time
So you prefer irradiated environments? I always did wonder how long you can survive radiation doses high enough to make your teeth glow-in-the-dark. (No more pesky whitening treatments) Lemme know how that one works out for you ;P
*EWWWWWW* Get a room, will ya!
Maybe I'm just over-analyzing, (very possible as I've been playing RTS's since the venerable Dune II) but to me an RTS has always seemed just a smaller version of a 4x played out in real time on a smaller scale. Exploration is there, Exploitation is there (controlling/mining resource nodes), Expansion is there (acquiring more resource nodes), and Extermination is most certainly there. Sins is a certainly welcome addition for pulling back from the tactical clickfest and rewarding more strategi
*whew* Looks like I got in just in time! (and lovin every minute of it BTW)
Well stick a fork in me and call me #24 The very least I can do is serve as fodder for the assuredly more experienced meatgrinders Ill be facing :p
hmm... Ive become so accustomed to the cursor just dissapearing when I rotate that I didn't even notice it was still there. Would be better if it just went away while I rotate, but it never really bothered me that much anyways.
Personally, I prefer the system as is stands now... the fleet size of a given empire is determined largely by the number of planets they own and the resources dedicated to develop said planets. This would simply give a greater advantage to players who focus more on research early game. Currently there is a clear choice of 1.) Deploy larger fleets and overwhelm with pure numbers games OR 2.) Research better ships and beat your opponent w/ specialization IF there
