Since there seems to be alot of i hate pirates threads, instead of posting this in every thread i come across i'm creating this post as a one stop shop to allievate the pirate timers for those who don't like it. First off you need to browse to your Sins of the Solar Empire/GameInfo folder. Next find the file called Gameplay.constants and make a back up copy then open in notepad and search for these lines firstWarningTime 900 //this is used to determine the very fir
the time from when the warning timer ends and the raid is sent out is a minimum of 30sec and a max of 90sec, this can all be modded and here is how go to your Sins of the Solar Empire/GameInfo folder and open the file called Gameplay.constants and search for these lines minSendRaidTime 30 maxSendRaidTime 90 Change these values to whatever you want. the Value is in seconds so 300 seconds would be 5 minutes and so forth. Make a back up copy if you modify just inc
i keep getting red nebulas and i remember seeing videos and screenshots from the beta in which there were blue and green and even just empty black space but with my game i just keep getting red, is there anyway to change it?
Take a look at this thread. [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=443&aid=175493"]WWW Link[/link] I've started to work on a mod to try and provide some more variety in the skybox backgrounds. Not sure how it works
Hi all modders, I'm not skilled in modding myself so I'm asking someone who is to make the following mod: I would like Frigates to have half their HP/shields and do half the damage they do now. I would like Cruisers to have 2/3 of their HP/shields and do 2/3 of their damage. Capital ships should be able to be left alone before testing the actual mod. You may ask why I want this? Battles take too much time and I really want to get the f
As far as I know, pirates can't travel between stars
Does it really matter where the pirate base is since the pirates are spawned out of thin air for the raids?
Mostly my fault. Should have done more homework on this game. Didn't know it was so slanted toward multiplayer. Here are my problems with the game: --Single player skirmish vs comp wasn't enough for me. Where's my campaign or story? Why bother with a long intro movie if there's no follow up? Most RTS games have both so why can't Sins of a Solar Empire?
Short answer because sins is not a RTS, it's a hybrid RTS and 4x (RT4X). Long Answer is the game
The game is installed under C:\Program Files\Stardock by default.
Unless of course you changed the installation path in SD Central before installing sins
Don't forget that you can modify their attack times, among other things. Search the "I hate pirates!" threads if you're interested. I don't recall the file and variables off the top of my head.
here's the values to be modded for attack times i posted in another i hate pirates thread. goto your sins of the solar empire/gameinfo folder, open the file called gameplay.constants and search for these lines firstWarningTime 900 normalWarningT
Describing the game as an RTS is pretty misleading though. It's like telling someone that WWW Link is a 4X game. So how would you describe it then?? You play it in real-time, it isn't turn based and there is... strategy involved?
as many posts above said you would describe it as a RT4X game, it has features from both RTS's and 4x games. Sins was ne
just expand and colonize more planets and build there.
They say they will be released SOON, so i take that as anytime now.
From a science point of view, you can only get the colours being emitted by that star. Res stars only put out red light so you shoudl only see red. Yellow on up output all colors. What colors you see are based on if it is an absorption or emission nebula (a nebula can be either, it depends on gas temperature and location of stars). You wont ever have green stars because stars are black body emitters. You would get a white star instead. Sorry I can't be more specific, I am in clas
Hey guys. Just wondering if it's possible to mod missile trails at all? They would look 90x better if they had a solid trail, or an engine trail after them instead of puffs of smoke. What do you guys think?
There probably is a way, but have not looked into yet and probably won't until the tools are released. I've had a similiar idea i wanted to do for weapons/ships such as trails so it is on my list to look into and maybe include in one of my future "Sins Enhan
Amazing job so far. Loving the 3rd one the most.
Thanks, just to put a disclaimer on this. These are not designed by me, these are just recolors of ironclads default textures.
this is not your traditional RTS but a 4x strategy game also, you can mod everything if you want to speed things up once the forge tools are released, personally gameplay is too fast for me.

Would I increase or decrease the warning time va
nvidia's dds converter, it plugs right into photoshop. you can open, edit and save dds files with it. We used it on sins
yes i know but i do not have photoshop for windows, mine is a mac version and nvidia's plugin is a window's plugin.
In the "Turning Off Pirates" post, a lot of people said "just make a map with no pirates" or "just use one of the scenarios that has no pirates." Fair enough. I don't really want to make a map, I bought the game to play it, not mod it. I can't tell from the scenario list which maps have pirates and which don't... maybe someone with more experience can run down the list and let us pirate-haters know which scenarios to avoid?
making a map isn't m
my only complaint about sins so far is the missions, they do not seem to mesh well with how diplomacy to me should work. Hopefully the diplomacy side is on the top of the list as far as updates and new features go.
Anyone know of a good DDS converter that works under vista? I have photoshop on my mac but need a way to easily convert dds textures to psd format which i can't find for a mac. The obvious DDS Converter 2.1 that most modding communities uses doesn't not work under correctly with vista. any suggestions would be helpful, thanks
