It's been working fine for me, though when I installed it I was really new at modding Sins and actually just pasted over the files in the main game folder after making a backup. I've never had any problems with it though, and I'm running 1.04 (and Sins Plus combined with Bailknight's graphical update, if that makes a difference).

Thanks for the clarification.
Play it. Doom divers are most definitely cartoonish. Perhaps you take your Warhammer a wee bit too seriously?
Ah, durr. I was thinking about 40K, you're quite right about Warhammer fantasy. The orcs & goblins especially are hilarious. 40K doesn't have much humor though (whether or not it pulls off the "gritty" quality).
Great! Glad you're finding some good games. And when the Orange Box drops to your desired price range, be sure to pick it up. I'm not a huge shooter person but I LOVED Half-Life 2 and Portal.
...and feature giant planetary defense structures. That's all that is known.
Where was this reported? That'd be a nice addition.
It does not simply have to be you vs. 4 AI's. You just can't be allied with anybody when one of them dies.
I too have gotten achievements vs. Hard AIs in a free-for-all; they definitely don't need to be teamed. I know you can't be allied with them at the end, but I'm not 100% sure about alliances mid-game. Can you confirm this? If so, it would make this tons easier.
Oh yeah, if you're at all into FPS games, buy the Orange Box! It's literally the best $50 I ever spent, and I already had Half Life 2 and Ep. 1. If you don't have those already...I mean, those plus Portal? You can't go wrong.
Homeworld, Homeworld 2, and Homeworld: Cataclysm are all still good games if you're willing to deal with (very) slightly out-of-date graphics in exchange for one of the best RTS storytelling experiences I've seen to date. And Cataclysm, despite being the red-headed stepchild of the series, is actually quite good and part of its design team actually went on to join Ironclad, I believe. And Relic is Relic, so the Homeworld games have quite a pedigree.
You forget to say that innovation is unnecessary. It's the quality of a game that decides if it's worth to play, not how innovative it is.
Partially true. Innovation can make up for lesser quality up to a point, just like good quality can make up for a lack of innovation. But for the greatest part, the game industry relies on polishing old designs and concepts until they gleam, and Blizzard has basically no peers in this category. Blizzard games (well, the PC ones, the
Do you have to make a mod folder to install?
If you're sufficiently upgraded on Sins, you already have a mod folder, it's just hiding in this weird Documents and Settings folder, away from the main install. There are more specific mod installing guidelines somewhere (I'm at work so I can't find them, sorry).
thanks for the answer! Is there a time limit on this, or does it just short of store the XP levels somewhere until you build a new ship and use the ability on it? Also, can you use the ability on a ship already built when the first one's destroyed?
I'm a bit unclear on how the Advent Progenitor Mothership crew resurrection ability works. In several games, I've noticed the ability almost constantly being on cooldown and spending antimatter if I set it to autocast, even when I'm not losing any cap ships. Is it a preemptive kind of ability? If not, why is it activating when no ships are dying? Thanks!
Enjoyable post-mortem! The more I think about it, the more I realize that Sins' release date was probably pretty important. It really would have been swamped out (not deservedly, but swamped nonetheless) if it had been released during the AAA-deluge of late last year.
I finally got around to starting a new game with these portraits, and they add a lot to the game! Very nice work.
Madness? This. Is. Ironclad! It's not just IC, give SD some credit too.
True, and Stardock is even more appropriate given the quote, but I figured that it was mostly IC's doing. But yes, we all know SD is responsible for part of this trend!
Madness? This. Is. Ironclad! Sorry for the outdated reference, but it seemed apropos. And here I was all ready to jump to their defense :P Well put, Ciassa.
I'm perfectly happy to wait until the end of summer for the expansion/campaign, so long as the wait is worth it.
Just remember that the game only came out in February...6 months isn't a whole lot of time to start agitating for an expansion :)
i know its alot to ask but it would be nice to have a campaign... i really want to know who is chasing the vasari and it would be nice to tell us in the story. Im pretty sure stardock can think of something cool, or talk to authors of sci fi books like halo or something...
A campaign has been semi-confirmed for the upcoming expansion; I doubt we'll see it in a content patch, though I suppose it's possible. @Fearzone, it seems like the prerequisite for big, awesom
ARE these ready? Please let us know where to put them if so! Thanks.
This is a minor point, but does anyone know what the odds of a Gas Giant appearing on a Sins Plus map are, approximately? I've played a few maps with 1.3 and haven't had a chance to use the Gas Giant Colonization tech because there haven't actually been any to colonize.
The Cielo autocast seems pretty mediocre....I watched one of mine in a battle and it almost never cast Embolden, even when it was surrounded by un-buffed ships. The Hoshiko is better at auto-repairing, in my experience. But yeah, the autocasts need improvement in general, though even now they're leagues beyond most games' autocast AIs.
I'm pretty sure white and purple don't exist ANYWHERE in the star spectrum, especially on the main sequence, which is the only place scouts would discover colonizable planets. Oh, and I wanted to say that Uranium's suggestions for merging 1.04 with Sins Plus 1.3 worked perfectly! So Uzii, no real "need" (as if you "needed" to do any other free modding!) to work on a fix, just direct people to page...35 of this thread, I think.
Watch, in 1.1 all the TEC voices will be replaced by Christopher Walken. Sins will then go multi-platinum.
This will make a brilliant mini-mod when completed! The Diplomacy screen will become far less boring.
Uranium - I really like that top white star you posted. Is this going to be available at some point, possibly as part of Uzii's mod? I agree that the current star selection is a bit sad (whenever I see a green star my inner astro nerd just cringes). I can get around the relative lack of scale, but the textures themselves do need a boost.
