Stated in another thread that IC changed it so to have access to that tech you need to keep the required amount of research posts, which in my opinion seems right otherwise people will just quickly rush up 8 military research station research everything destroy them all and do the same thing with civilian

It's frustrating because when C&C3 was released people complained it was the same old game just with shiny new graphics, stardock try something new and people bark they want the old kind of gameplay. This is the problem with the games industry at the minute and exactly the reason why Stardock don't have a publisher for this game in the EU yet.
Writing a review should take some time, unlike how they've been reviewing games lately giving the over hyped games 10's when they obviously don't deserve them *cough* halo 3 *cough*. Theres plenty of player testimonials and video's to watch.
Pirates can be used to your advantage, i.e to take an enemy out of a fight as they have to defend their own planets.
Yep you can (i'm from the UK too)
Ok this game obviously isn't oging to be for everyone, it's designed to be an epic space RTS not your standard Dawn of war where games can be won of lost in 5 minutes. Personally i'm really liking how slow the game is, it's refreshing to know that if i go do something else for 5 minute or get called away during a multiplayer game for a minute or two i know full well that i'm not going to be destroyed when i come back. This game isn't about instant winning or fast paced games (however it can be i
I'm loving it, the polish thats gone into this game is stunning, the game menu's and user interface is top notch. The intro movie gives some nice detail into the story behind the game and the gameplay itself is totally different to what i've played before, IC have raised the bar with this one. Multi-player is fantastic i've not yet seen any underhand tactics being used. My favourite ship so far has to be the Advent battleship it's just awesome.

An amazing idea.
Thats what always bugs me people will shout "oooh but it's such a huge performance hit my PC won't be able to cope" Add an option for the people who do have ninja PC's.
Slightly off topic, but how large is the final game going to be to download?
Some of the ships such as the LRM frigates have the ability to do splash damage, i was concerned in the most recent video on gamespot he zoomed in on a some frigates that were quite literally sitting on top of each other, surely the ship AI should spread out of from each other to avoid splash damage. I really don't want to have to spread my frigates out each time i go into a fight. i'd be quite content with a button that just spreads them out.
So, can we get any word from the devs as to whether this much wanted feature will be added into the game. (without having to mod it in ourselves)
i could care less for a story, i never play through the singleplayer in any games these days...i for one am very happy everything has been put into the skirmish mode, it represents a shift in game development, since obviously the only drawback to multiplayer in the past on RTS games was the processing power for the host computer and the internet connection required, now that both have been vastly upgraded since games like Red alert when singleplayer was dominant over the multiplayer.
You people and your widescreens
it's the only way to play games :)
Heh we don't get X-play in the UK (i know i don't) can someone upload it to the interwebs sometime please would be much appreciated.
Are any of these screens from beta 4?
This is one thing thats been constantly missed in RTS's. Looking at the screenshot the user interface is lovely but on a smaller monitor appears to take up a large portion to the screen. will are there any features to change the scale of the UI to make it smaller?
In the past i've always hated most RTS games like C&C, starcraft and Age of empires kind of games simply because in multiplayer battles lasted a whole 5 minutes as the favourite tactic was to rush in the first 30 seconds with the weakest troops. I'm hoping sins will be different. So how well does rushing work in sins, or does it not work at all?
i'd much rather they just make the shots per volley etc changeable in the graphics options, so i can still play online whilst keeping the pretty bullet effects.
If the client i'm running on is modified, wouldn't that mean that it differs from other people's then stopping online play?
Missed shots could be purely graphical so as to avoid any balance problems the ships would still do the same damage this should also be put in the graphics options to be toggled on off.
After only finding out about this game recently (for which i'm forever thankful not sure if i could stand waiting months for this) I've watched the beta 4 video's and I'm abit dissapointed with the fighting between the capital ships, it just doesn't look epic enough for me. I've always imagined these enormous machines of death to be full to the brim with guns of all sorts. The fighting I've seen only really shows a few kinds of guns being used what i wanted to see what hundreds of trace
