@Dr Guy You are looking specifically for definitions that require "territorial acquisitions"...words are not defined by words, they are defined by concepts, connotations, and ideas...there is also no one definition, but many for any given word...looking at several definitions of imperialism, they do not all require a "flag to be planted" so to speak... Imperialism is about dominance, not your narrow focus on "territorial acquisitions"...you can argue the definition of imperial

Enemy counter? What enemy counter? If you have the type of defenses you are talking about (2 starbases + repair bays + PJIs + a select group of defense units NOT part of your regular fleet) then either the game has been going on quite a while or you invested so heavily in tech and defenses, you don't have a fleet to counter attack with...if the game has being going on quite a while, then you can bet the other team has comparable defenses as well, so a counterattack is just as viab

[quote who="Greg30007" reply="35" id="2652259"]First thing Another thing even if i'm in fighting role i never purchase offensive capabilities on advent sb. I rather invest in LVL 2 spin control and if I have labs in LVL 2 meteor shover. With spin even if you have much weaker force you can defeat your enemy and meteor is most useful right after culture. I always accompany sb with 2 hangars with shield restore and repair bays and yes I buy 2 cheapest hull upgrades straight away.
Interesting article, it appears I was wrong...America loves to meddle in Africa too...
Greg30007 mentioned he might use his next replay if he gets the chance, which is a good idea on his part... After reading his post I decided to look at the last save of my last 2 vs. 2... This was on a medium large map...I colonized and held 8 planets for the entirety of the game...the opponent next to me colonized and held 9 (bummer for him that they were almost all asteroids) for the entirety of the game...my ally lost significant ground until he bunkered down with 4 planets
There is no eco spot on a FFA or a 2 vs. 2...everyone has to have a military, EVERYONE...on a 3 vs. 3, at most 2 players will be eco, and odds are that won't be the case...you're not wrong about eco players, but I'm not interested in eco playstyles right now... We are all in agreement that TEC will most likely be buying, not selling resources...I am looking at the Advent and Vasari, who are more inclined to sell resources than a TEC faction... We also are all in agreement tha

Sorry about the above post being messy...I can't figure out why the quotes are being the way they are...

[quote who="Darvin3" reply="24" id="2650175"] I completely disagree with your assessment of the factions. Once you move over to a primarily trade-based economy, you will always have a surplus of credits and will need to buy one (if not both) of your resources. In fact, I'd say Advent is in an even worse situation than TEC in this regard since they don't have any viable refinery and their extractor upgrade techs are more expensive. Now, I will agree that Vasari usually h
The American military is most definitely overstretched...but so has the military of every empire, it is simply part of being imperialistic... Double post...my apologies...
Darvin3, I'm curious as to why you chose 4.5-1 as your ratio...in my experience only the TEC have to generally purchase resources, and even then, its usually only metal or crystal, not both...since we are looking specifically at a Vasari player, I'd think that a 2.5-1 ratio would be more appropriate since the Vasari player is likely selling resources, not buying them... I don't at all disagree with your conclusion...colony pods are a waste...but I know you do a lot of contributing on

@viper699 Upon colonizing a planet, the initial allegiance level is determined by how far that planet is from your homeworld...the MAX allegiance is the maximum allegiance that planet can have....this MAX allegiance is 10% higher than the initial allegiance, and friendly culture will push you up from the initial x% to the max (x+10)%... It is important to keep in mind that planets far from the homeworld have very little initial and max allegiance...the game is set up so that a
I have Diplomacy...I don't have much experience with fast or faster, but my time management is decent so I could probably get used to it quick...the only issue would be my lack of perspective ex: I've been playing for 15 minutes, how many planets should I have by now?
That's a shame...a more instantaneous effect with the deliverance engine would be much appreciated...especially given the power of the Kostura...
Don't know if this thread is still alive...but anyway...I LOVE team based games on MP and prefer normal speed...I have lots of experience with all three factions so if you're trying to set up certain compositions I can be flexible....I can't promise I can play a lot at those times, but if you send me something whenever you are thinking about playing, I'll see what I can do... The current Advent envoy can help raise allegiance...though normally this is pretty pointless as most planets are at full allegiance....however I don't believe they raise the max allegiance, their effect works overtime, and it is possible that enemy culture may have to be present for the envoy to even do anything...I'm getting the impression you just want the code for this envoy ability....I don't know how to implement it for a deliverance engine, but I'm sure you could make the rate of chang
