Hello, Im thinking of maybe making flagships for each race.. they'd be built like a superweapon and be at the end of the military tech tree. Unfortuneately I do not know much modding and was wondering, is there any custom ship models? Im not sure if SoaSE has a text based system or a program based system. But what I want to do is make giant ships that would take up about 4 or 5 capital ship slots and a whol

The AI is smarter than you would think... if you have all your fleet concentrated on the star they will try to bypass the fleet with faster ships and go straight for your homeworld; so put up some defenses do mitigate this or spread out your star defense fleet more. I tried the second tactic and it takes a LOT of ships to fully defend an entire star. Your 20 ship fleet is amazingly strained to defend a star, even if it has only a single phase lane, anything within 90 degre
IMO they are all the same as you can autocast abilities and the AI is really good on using them at the right times (vasari carrier's repair thing just when most of my ships in range's shields go down)
Thanks for the info I got the game and finally pulled myself away from it to post. just FYI the advent bombers have 2x as much but little damage and little health so all of em are actually equal :P
Defenses exist to delay and deter, not to bunker up a planet such that it's invincible. They were never meant to stop a moderately determined force, moreso just insurgents or small to medium pirate attacks, and give enemies something to occupy them until you can get reinforcements there to defend.
I just got the game a couple days ago and my first game about half an hour in (30 min learning curve ftw)I just bunkered in and if you want your Defense to hold out VS a r
Thanks for the info! by the way what ships "planet suck"? and you just solidified me as going advent too lol and what types of capital ship are there? Do the capital carriers carry weaponry and have decent shields/armor? And normally if there are the most craft per squadron, the craft are weaker.. does this apply to SINS too? Is there a carrier than drains planets? TY again for info
oh, you should be able to control the fighters/bombers with two buttons (a dock button, and a deploy button), but otherwise their behaviour in a fight should be automatic. In addition, their first instinct should be to auto dock when no enemies are around and auto deploy when enemies show up.
What if you need to focus all your bombers on a single target? if they were automatic theyd all go for a different target and they wouldnt kill a damn thing just weaken a bunch of f
Sorry forgot about this one Question #7: How does colonization work? Do you need a colony ship or do you just bomb the planet into oblivion and the inhabitants align to your cause?
Question #1: I am a huge fan of carriers especially in space games. So I was wondering.. Which race gets the best carrier in terms of how many fighters/bombers it can carry? Question #2: I was also wondering if there are more than 1 type of capital ship for each race. So far I haven't had any indication theres more than a single model of capital ship. Question #3: How exactly is travel from star to star done? by wormhole? Or is there a form of accelerated w
I dont see why this huge argument erupted over a small bit of data designed to assist people. Everyone take a deep breath. In. and out. in. and out. repeat. And Psychoak quit being a condescendant forum troll!
Alright. Thanks for the information. I am sooooooo buying this game!
Mon Calamari Cruiser is the biggest ship of the Rebellion. Its just a little weaker than an ESD.
hmm.. not in EAW, the ESDs were 10x weaker mostly because you could blow off the ESDs shields :)
In 'Star Wars: Empire at war'I was experimenting a bit and found that, coupled with the hero in an X-wing and his ability that instantly blew up a hard point/small ship through shields, an enormous spam of X wings with as many squads as I could make would inevitably swarm star destroyers and completely demolish them within a few seconds. (even if they had shields up, it still wouldnt take long) and the same applies for space stations :SURPRISED: My question is
True, but it still would generate clipping issues if they did :)
Health (HP) represents how much damage a unit can endure before it is killed. Armour, on the other hand, helps prevent damage from being done. Think of it as shield mitigation, only for hulls instead of shields.
You sound like you play EvE online  Mitigation and shield resistances FTW!
Heck, I don't know how you'd use a minimap on a game like this one -- it just wouldn't "fit" very well.
*cough cough* Supreme Commander *Cough cough* Not as big, but still massive and it has a minimap you can show/hide. Its not really useful though as the little box icons normally clog it up so its like a huge wad of boxes in different places. At least it shows where they are!
I... must... play.. this.. game! P.S. If anyone sees a guy named Diggz on the forums slap him for me, he stole the name I use on all my stuff :(
My theory to why they dont move is that if they all did, there would be inevitable crashing and smashing into friendlies and ramming of other ships, plus this would create a horde of clipping issues!
My theory is that the ships are just so massive that hundreds of them moving means theyd crash into one another, and then thered be a huge amount of clipping and smashing and itd be awful
Star wars mods would be cool but i dont think there is enough variety in star wars ships to make a SINS mod... even in EAW its just star destroyer + hero + frigate = shoot space station
Will there be any planetary invasions allowed for this game, and also...will there be ground combat allowed. Anyone know??
no there wont as the races in SINS are smart.. any resistance gets a big laser to its face from space!
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/lostempireimmortals/index.html?tag=tabs;summary anyone hear of this before? Seems alright but...familiar
Lost empires could be like sins in theory, but lost empire does not allow you to control your battles, just watch them unfold, and its turn based which gives it a -10 :D
Widescreens are for chumps with only one monitor. Muahahaha!!! :HOT: P.S. Someone stole the normal username i use, Diggz.. if you see him give him a slap in the face!
