I have a high end rig - plenty of memory and grunt to handle the game and i to also have this issue with a couple of mates where the longer games go the chances of people crashing out approaches 1. yea i just got a lockup / crash - that created a minidump file but nfi where it sent the minidump file to (happy to send it in) - just on this it was actually my first multiplayer game must have been 90 minutes in and had been involved in decent battles already.
ok i really like the idea that has been bought up around phase jump timers and time to target. this would be really helpful. As to the pji idea for causing it to be a debuff that stops phase jump for a minute - it can take a fleet a minute just to travel across a planet - this would have to be at least 3/4 minutes with a HIGH chance of occuring. all in all i'd prefer it to simply act as a stopper, and force people to fight you for land control. I'd love to see phase jumpers changed to this: blocks all outgoing traffic from that planet - to another world that is yours - or maybe another world of yours that also has a phase jump inhibitor. This would require more tactics in placement of a chokepoint and still allow people to run if they find they have attacked a too heavily defended planet. It will also stop the issue of ships and fleets just travelling as they please. However it might also be possible to find a route around this by usi
reply 84 - hellfires - i reallly like this sort of idea - make some bigger defenisve structures maybe further up a defensive tech tree while if you go that path then some economic or offensive abilities are missing for u - this will really cause an emphasis on teamwork in the bigger games!
but they cant - because once that 75% cap comes in you have to be SOOOOO much bigger than anyone else to be able to field a force that is proportionately bigger than theirs - that can also cover your proportionately bigger empire - in reality it actually then reduces the power of your empire and punishes you for being the biggest. and again i dont get the problem with having the empire who is biggest and most powerful ( economically and planet size ) having an advantage over smaller em
tbh a lot of what has been said has been very valid criticism. The turrets are extremely exepnsive compared to the production of a MOBILE fleet that can destroy them. On larger maps there is virtually no point in building defense - by the time you get there the enemy has either wiped out half the planet or moved on. And yes scouting is good - but what is 2 phase jumps when you have 20 planets and your 5/6 away! currently the way the fleet cap scales and defenses are
na i played everything on normal. in 8 player ffa. there are 3 guys in my star system. c question on refineries can u have more than 1 on a planet - cause i noticed that resources can take up to 3 refineries each? and yea i will have to increase my culture i think to make up for the dispraportionate amount of money to metal / crystal!
Ok this is going to sound like the most ridiculous problem of all time... Firstly - loving the game im 5 hours into a game and really enjoying it - that said however i have 200k credits, 15k metal, 40k crystal - i cant seem to spend the credits because i run out of metal. in the few games i've played i always end up with this massive abundance of credits. As this is an 8 player ffa - the black market prices for metal are about 1500-1700 per 100 unit - so in my mind thats not a
yea im the same around the tech bit - when i've played some more i'll know what techs ineed but at the momment i can be a little lost trying to work out which techs do what for which options... it would be a helpful little improvement
seconded! however i would use the word strategy loosely just because this really doesnt strike me as the game where u can just use cookie cutters and win? would be really good to have some initial start up "ideas" though just to help getting into the game as well as some more advanced "ideas" when things get hectic

shiva.. now thats impressive :) Yea my first couple of games took a few hours each as well :P i've decided to start something a bit bigger - 2 v 2 v 2 v 2 v 2 on a huge map :) this way im hoping to play out to the end of the tech tree! also playing advent for the first time! any ideas how long this game might last?

i agree with this somewhat . love the game by the way had a lot of fun this evening (2am and im at work in 5 hours :D) however pirates abilities to just break through 10 gauss guns and 5-10 ships only to have me chase them all around the planet was infuriating!
