Solution, plain and simple: Ranking system + Score penalty for quitting (which can only be negated if the same game is played again with the same people to a proper ending - to support save/load games) As for quitting when you are losing. I realize some people thing their time is spent better playing a new game while their opponents are mopping up. Hell.. in that case, surrender and leave.. i hate mopping up and would gladly skip it, if the opponent would decide to surrender.<br
vasari fleet cap is 2300
Hmm, i guess someone forgot to pass that memo to my 2339 point fleet :P Another stupid issue of the gates, they easily allow you to go 10-50 points above your pop cap, which might be significant in the early tech stages, when it would normally only be 600-800 or less.
You realize you are alking about various high level techs and high level capitals to counter something merely costing 4 pop points and eaisly spammed from the beginning of the game, right? Sure once i get the tech up to speed, not much is a threat to the vasari, but early game they are ridiculously vulnerable, as they are outnumbered, and outgunned as i just said. 1.5 times the number of ships you have, even if all of them are weaker than yours, they still have a lot more firep
I've attacked Vasari players one hour into the game, they just got dark fleet going, and I slaughtered them terribly! 1 hour is what it takes to get returning armada working, 1 hour is enough time to attack a Vasari player on large, even huge map!Fact about Returning Armada -> Your ships will not have abilities since you focused on imperial labs, your ships will not have support cruisers! In a straight up fight a Vasari fleet without all military upgrades and abilities minus support cruis
... Why?!Their reasoning is as follows:1) "Free ships?! WTF! HAX!" - allegedly gaining something for 'free' despite spending insane amounts of resources on a) getting to the stage where you can develop it b) actually developing it and c) building the gates that allow you to (finally) use what you have developed, is a completely criminal act. After all, no one likes a free-rider, especially one that has already pre-paid.
Actually, those ships really are free.. th
Just to be clear: Grav warhead is AoE. And in my opinion it is easily the best ability in the whole game. I rarely lack the firepower to take a ship down, but i always need the ability to make a ship stay while i take it down. Remember, nothing bring a bigger smile to your face, than to see your enemies precious capital ship go down, then start running and become stranded just when it is about to enter phase space. I tend to wait until the last moment as it charges up, not only to maxim
Is the OP right about returning armada being overpowered? Well, yes and no. The ability itself is not overpowered, but the ability to build a single gate that not only allows you free travel around your empire, but also provides reinforcements is. The ideal fix would be separating the two. Making the gates chaper (tac point cost the same), but crate a different orbital (8-10 tac points) called dark armada beacon or something, that allows the returning armada to use the gate in
Okay, so dark armada. Resources needed: about 2500 crystals + obscene ammount of credits for the research (not to mention the time needed), then 1500 more creds / 300 more crystals a piece for the gates. Furthermore, you need 8 labs for them, which as we know mean: 32 logi points. also the 8 labs cost like 6000 credits and 600-700 crystals. While it is mathematically possible to build 8 labs on the HW and an asteroid colony, you will sure as hell not get enough resourc
hmm checked the replay and there was only one battle when a battleship actually went down seemingly with some shields intact. At the very end two advent lvl1 battelships. One had like 302 hull left after its shields were gone (that is from full hull/shield, with fully researched phasic tech) and the other went down from one volley with about 300 shields and 500 hull left. Some otehr stats. Imperia (blue) - 2519/2519 | 2316/2316 (1671/2519 hull left when shields fail with
It mostly depends on the scenario.. i have the replay but its a few hours into it and i dont have time to fastforward there at the moment. Anyway, from the manual it seems to be clear that hull also has damage mitigation, through emergency backup generators that kick in once the shield is gone. The hull damage mitigation however is fixed at the level where the shields collapsed, so if its 50% then the hull will have that much as well.. now since every now and then the shield recharges,
thing is, eve lagging in big battles is not a graphics issue.. i think they could easily serve battles between 1000s of ships graphically. Its more like a network layer design problem. The network architecture behind eve is simply not suited to handle battles this big. The average 3k/s data stream you get from their servers is just not enough to get all the data about what is going on in a big fight to the clients. Thats why you see ships appearing slowly, messages / damage not
I played EVE back in beta was part of one of the corps listed in the back of the Prima book (TTI), I found EVE interesting, and even played for a few months after launch. Then about a year or so later came back to it. Started over, and got my logistic's ship's (yes 2 race loggy ships), highest Ind ships, and going for my Capital. Then stopped playing again. Just to know where I am coming from with this...
Yea, i clearly remember taggart, i planned on joining them but
You can go on and preach about moral and legal issues, but as long as EVERY EULA contains the phrases "NO WARRANTIES" "NO RIGHTS" "AS IS", i just reserve the right to try a software before i buy it.. face it.. quality is rare these days and you just dont see demos for games released (probably for a reason). excerpt from BF2142 EULA:
THIS SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED BY THE COPYRIGHT HOLDERS AND CONTRIBUTORS "AS IS" AND ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITE
I can merely share my personal experience with you. No way do i consider myself an expert on vasari, but i do play them and i do like them. Obviously there is no winning strategy, as you always have to keep an eye on your enemies and adept to their every move. Still here are a few key points i think deserve attention: - Vasari get 2in1 resource techs, meaning that each level of the same tech boosts both crystal and mineral extraction. The techs also come on a very low tech
Phase missiles dropping caps well before their shield is out is not a theory, but a fact. Especially if the capital has shield recharging specials. Just had a game where i did drop a handful of advent caps with a fleet composed of assailants, enforcers and transporters packed with bombers. Bombers also get the phase upgrades, or so it seems. Anyway, maxed out missile branch in the research tree can mean the difference between winning and losing for a vasari, especially consider
OMG, so many sour failed EVE dropouts posting here... Yea, EVE is a game world unlike any other i know / or heard about. It is unforgiving, ruthless and full of people who will backstab you the first sign you allow them to do it. In a sense EVE is just like real life. Everyone for himself. Then again, it is so much more. I could go on and tell you how / why eve is great, but it would fill pages and would take me hours to tell you about all the experiences and fun i've had in th
However, there is absolutely no reason to "report" your friend, since as i said, he probably just downloaded it off the internet and burned it, and didnt actually do the "pirating" on his own. He's just a downloader like 99% of everyone else. *snort* "Just a downloader"? It's still piracy, whether you cracked the copy protection or not.
Well, it should've been clear that my posting was meant to be humorous or if not, at least sarcastic. I guess some people take some things way too serious. Like losing in a game.
Bottomline: You can't just ignore the circumstances when you suggest a counter or tactic. Well, yes you can if the problem is only presented as "OMFG! Thing is, rushing to a novalith and destroy it might work if it is 2-3 jumps into enemy territory, then again, if it is further in, you might be in trouble.. as by the time you get to the gun - which is probably heavily defended - you just lose half your fleet to defenses you have to pass by. I do think however, that if you destroy enough labs to put him below the lab requirement for the novalith gun tech, the gun stops working.. at least i know from experience, that certain techs cant
First of all, it wouldnt be the one sharing the CD key they would put onto trial first, but your friend for obviously and admittedly violating copyright laws. Yes, while downloading the pirated version might not be a severe offense - even though using the software it is still one - distributing it certainly is a crime. So if he is really your friend, then next time you might just as well try and resolve the issue with him, without going public about crimes he comitted. <br/
well.. i don't really know which chart to believe in.. the 3 i just checked displayed 3 different lines for the illuminators. doh. Still i do feel that there is something odd about them. Maybe it is just the fact that their capitals have supporting abilities you can barely break without using anitmatter draining or special ability disabling ships yourself.. but fact stays: a single mothership with 30-40 illuminators is a force you dont want to confront head-on. Not with a simil
[link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=452&aid=177602"]https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=452&aid=177602[/link] from that thread above, it looks like if the advent LRM would have not just anti-cap weapons, which i wouldnt really understand why they would give to a frigate, but also capital armor class which basically means that all the other frigates deal reduced damage to it. Severly reduced in cases. Like: Light frigs with anti-heavy damage type
Thats how it works. Relics are very helpful, you dont want to have them popping up on every other planet. I think that there is a certain percentage of chance that it will appear.
Actually, in the 1.0 version of my map: behind you, there is a typo in the map file which causes the artifact spawn rate to be 15.0 instead of .15 and the special spawn rate to be 40.0 instead of .40 :) now the thing is.. there were artifacts on all the planets basically :P Considering
