Fan made movie: Breaking Point Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9xPvcxU2Ug Finally finished my newest video. It's basically focusing on Advent but not forgetting about the others either. I wrote a rather basic/common story for the video - that's basically all i can reveal :P. High quality version is available on youtube too. All the background music is from the official Sin

Sure it will be nice when the AI gets polished from it's newbieness (nevermind that .. word?). I'm not sure how much modders can do if IC dont want to us to mess with the real stuff - AI might be hard-coded. I suppose it's up to them, it usually is. Ironman mode : 4 Bonuses to AI: Increased speed on building & research, increased income gains, deals 5% more damage. @chronicpayne:
A friend and I did this
Thats nice. Dont know what triggers the AI t
against AI i used 3 hangars with fighters (no bombers) to take out their bombers & light frigates, 2-4 repair stations & rest turrets as much as i could. Two repair stations was enough against a normal attack force but against anything larger required more. Build like this: [xx= planet, t=turret, h=hangar, rs=repair stations, - = format helper :P.] - tttttttt rs - XX - rs -- h h h - Depending how the phase lines were set. The repair stations range o
Once you have the ally, use it as long as it last - as in: Find a target faction that your ally likes to attack and keep sending it. I've used my allies to destroy other factions, you just need to micro-manage it. If there isn't one then wait & try again later. The old alliances might be in effect. Do the missions to get one but you need a little luck with them, 85% is enough so you can command it around. If your ally is a good tec faction (aggressive attacker) the enemy planets are doo
The best would be a % bonus to money/resources.
Well why not do a system with Forge Tools then?. Help the AI. It is possible to make a map thats totally impossible for the player already. Not saying that one should make that ;). That was just a thought.
Make a huge map thats imbalanced to you: ie less planets & less resources for you two. One access in & out of your system. Load it up up 7 AI (lock them to same team) vs you two. If that still seems simple make all AI players Advent & Tec. Superb shield strength & repairs. have fun with that :P. That'd be very interesting at least. Any takers? :P
Core2Duo 2.4ghz, 2gb and x1900 pci-e radeon on XP. I had some crazy fps drops because the huge battles aren't really the normal situations :P. I'd have to check my display settings if there was something holding back the performance.
Nice mod! true that the original penalties for not doing missions is too steep and the timelimit is really short. Moving say a fleet can take all that time easily. I'll give it a try next time ;).
Huge map it had 102 planets and four systems (stars). :D.
I've posted two videos like this on youtube which were like an video-blog of my 10 player FFA game but this i thought to post here too. This new video tells how the war ended and what happened after day 2. But you dont have to watch the others to understand this. There's two versions Higher quality version (which has an download limit) & streamed. What can i say, that game was probably the most epic rts expirience i've had. Thanks for making Sins ;). Have to give credit for the AI too,
@Benjamin Low: Dont worry you can still get on with the game, it will be tough but keep on fighting. I just finished that game i had. I had an alliance during end-game all the time, we defeated all the rest together. I had the exact same feelings as you did many times. You have to take a risk and send your biggest fleet to destroy one of the factions, something that has less planets than others. I know i had to then come back and take back what you lost. Just make sure your ho
My first thoughts were like yours but i learned to like it. Since... think about this scenario. You have many planets with phase stabilizers (5 or so) and one of your planets is getting raided by enemies but your main fleet is on another system. Given the great timing by the AI your defensive fleet is outmanned & outgunned to defend it. The trick is i can send in endless supply of "free ships" that can keep them occupied until i can send in my bigger fleet to scare them away or use it a
That's wonderfull maybe i can finish my epic-game then ;). Right now i'm in a tight spot, can't really do anything, well i could try rushing their planets with everything i have but it can backfire. My game had 9 AI - now it's "only" 5 but the remaining are somewhat powerfull, when they ally it's ... something bad :P. No matter how i look at the situation who ever is the last one to be agaisnt me it's going to be the war of the century. If i get there that is.
I too had my first, yeah first alliance (100%) on my huge game. There's few things that i find very odd. a) Said faction was still in alliance with others that were attacking me (how's that possible anyway :P.). From 9 factions - 5 are still alive but my "friend" refuses to attack anyone of them. b) I ordered him to defend an area with that was getting mauled by the biggest group i've ever seen (3 factions were attacking it). There were hundreds of ships, that was so crazy!. My
Against 9 basically anyone you attack builds up relations with someone. It's impossible to avoid but it's hard to keep them satisfied. The problems start to arise later when there's fewer left. I'm on such a game now, 12 hours played it. 7 are left and currently they're all against me more or less. :P. I'm still waiting for break it will happen.... i hope. It isn't "nice" though.
I've had some of these issues happen on my 10 FFA game, yeah call me nuts but it's kinda fun even with broken diplomacy. Mission queue (Maximum number of new missions) would be nice too since oh boy they like to "spam" with me new ones, almost everyone of them at the same time. It's funny when say a green faction wants you to take out yellow ships. Said yellow ships attack your colony but so does the green -> they work together to take you out. Then they jump away like nothing was wrong
Capital Ships for pirates :O. I mean really. When their threat level reaches "severe" they start packing the big guns. Besides that .. well all seems to be said;).
ah damn forgot about that, doh ;). Then i know who it is too. I think i'm going to have my sweet time blowing up his planets with my super weapon, over and over :P. As far as the "Hey lets all join alliance against Vasari" thing going on, they're gonna need it.
Nope it's not like that actually. It's spawning Rebel ships that attack anything in sight. Hmm, if my opponents have found an relic, can it cause things like that?. On most of the planets the allegiance is stuck at 60% (with no gains or loss), some are as low as 25%. Strange things. Oh i hope it's not the culture cannon though. There's two advent factions still around. Actually thats the least of my problems. The AI has allied against me ;P. I think i'm done unless something happens tha
My current game has being going for 9 hours (10 players). Long story short my planets are having low allegiance and i do have media hubs around but my culture doesn't seem to spread back to my own planets. Shouldn't it spread faster to my own planets?. (Max. technology too). I'm getting rebel problems as a result, not big but annoying since the low allegiance also eats away my profits.
Thats a nice screenie and here's another from me :P. This group was waiting for me to join the party. All three factions allied against me, it wasn't a very warm welcome. Notice that the enemies list was too small to list them all :D
One of my planets getting raided by 179+ ships. There was a second wave incoming but that's not yet there so all in all i was defending it against 200+ ships. The assaulting factions were: tec (orange) & two advent's. I was able to defend it, didn't lose it but my lvl 10 capital ship got destroyed along with numerous other ships and structures.. Probably the most epic fight i've had. (10 player game btw). The fleet
No offense taken but that's what i do (in a nutshell) and it works for Me. There's millions of ways to play some are less effective than others. Those that aim for major perfection dont need to follow these in any shape or form as i'm sure they already have adapted their own way of playing. That list i wrote is not carved in stone either, it's not like you have to go them in that order. I'm not min/maxing my routines for sp. Alot depends on what the AI enemies forces upon me.
For vasari at the start of the game. I dont think i'll list it all because there's so much to to do.. but here's something. SP game. - Colonize a second planet as soon as possible (anything will do). - Build two empire research stations (1 each planet). - Start researching upgrades for basic metal & crystal "mining" (at least 2/2). - Research hangars & Repair station when possible (req. two warfare stations) - Build up defenses to your new planet. Mix of Missile towers/h
@ Kai Allard Ah thats nasty situation.... well at least you can go out in a blaze of fire :D. I'm not sure what i'd do in that situation either. Seems really bad, maybe something went "wrong" earlier.
