Inflation is not explained at all by any of the documentation in CIV, so you tell me what it is and why pirates aren't the same thing. Your reply is pretty nonsensical.
Well in the game it simulates the rise of goods and services. Pirates in Sins are a neutral faction that you can manipulate to do things. You can't change another nation's inflation in Civ 4. Also '$texas' means large amounts of money.
No one is suggesting changing the NORMAL speed of the game. Just adding some ADDITIONAL speed Options for people that want to play a little faster. How does this hurt the people that think the speeds are fine? I suppose it's all down to the "every slider to the right" phenomenon. You know, give a user a set options in the form of sliders and his first inclination is to move every single one to the right. By givi
That's not really what inflation is... Also there are better game mechanics keeping you from hoarding $texas.
Describing the game as an RTS is pretty misleading though. It's like telling someone that WWW Link is a 4X game. RTS = "Real Time Strategy" Sins is Real Time and its Strategy so why is it misleading? Just because everyone got used to the same style of RTS over all these years? Is there an unknown rule say
"game with the scope and strategic depth of a turn-based 4X conquer-the-universe game and the immediacy and excitement of a real-time strategy title." That's sums it up well I think.
You should post the specs of your computer.
I dunno how other people are finding this game. The first thing I heard about it was that it was a 'spiritual successor' to Homeworld. Once I saw the contrails in a screenshot I knew that I'd be buying it. Eventually all the gaps were filled in though and I'm glad I've kept up with it because the game offers way more than what I would have expected from another Homeworld type game. I'm sure there'll be a signigicant amount of people buying this game expecting something else though. Anyone can re
The thing with a campaign is that it gives you objectives and usually an outline of a strategy without coming up with one on your own (and I think that this is where the game shines). Maybe as you expand and research little bits of fluff can be accessed like in Earth 2150. A small cutscene or video heralding your triumphs or something.
Describing the game as an RTS is pretty misleading though. It's like telling someone that [link="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X%C2%B3:_Reunion"]WWW Link[/link] is a 4X game.
OK. So I went back last night after work and started a 'slow' game. You dudes are totally right, it's really not that much slower than normal.
Having them just 'spawn' fleets is kinda lame. I think it woulda been better if they built their ships using a percentage of the bounty then sent out what they could to harrass you instead of sending out the blob all the time. The mechanic seems kinda forced.
See the thing is it depends. If you're totally into FPS an the like then a newer video card would make a big difference. MEGADETH9mm is right about the RAM though. You definitely do not need to spend an arm and a leg to get more out of what you have, and this game is very scalable. Have you run the game at all yet?
Also I'm guessing we're all talking different maps sizes. I'm fully prepared to have a game with the most stars and planets take a very, very long time. Although the research might be completed very early in the game there's still the problem of strategically placing your cap ships and large fleets and considering the time it would take to reinforce them.
I dunno, I think the pacing works well for this game. How long do you need to take to decide to research one thing or another? It sounds like you just want another turn based strategy game. Glad it works for u m8! nope I as I stated - likes the concept in this game but as DaveCM said; "30 seconds to build a space station, 1 min to 'research' some advanced technology ... gimme a break" And this on s
I think it would be cool if there was a tangible bonus for defeating the pirates. Maybe in larger games you could receive a cut from the bounties or you could use them as privateers.
I dunno, I think the pacing works well for this game. How long do you need to take to decide to research one thing or another? Or tell your ships where to go. It sounds like you just want another turn based strategy game.
Yup, if they're just crossing a system on the way to somewhere else afte you've paid them you should get a different message methinks. Maybe just a regular insult instead of a threat...
Yeah, the Pirates aren't that bad. If you end up on the wrong side of the bidding war, then you might not be able to spend resources the way you want for awhile, but the XP from haiving your Cap ships fighting them more than makes up for it in the long run. They're aggressive, but dumb. You just have to adjust and use it to your advantage.
