Everything WAS working fine... but now I am also getting "Disconected From Ironclad Online" when trying to use an existing account. My friend is also getting this exact message when trying to create a NEW account within the SINS interface. Nothing has changed as far as my PC / OS (XPSP3) is concerned. I'm using the same static IP address. Port forwarding is still enabled and configured correctly (right ports / right IP address). So then... what is going on???

Fantastic mod! Thank you for your hard work and the new host, downloaded it no problem! Haven't played it enough to give any useful feedback / bug reports... but I really like the enhanced capital ships, new targeting priorities and my particle bug has been fixed... somehow! Now I see all effects, all the time. Big thumbs up, thanks again! One quick suggestion… Include an installation path for XP users as part of your original post / installation guide. That should make things

As I said before, I really want to try this and contribute feedback but the download link just won’t work! Any chance of an alternative download source please? Thanks for the hard work!

FFS this is a GAME. We just want stuff that LOOKS cool, who cares if it's realistic or not?! Some of the arguments in this thread are ridiculous! I’m all for making things look less static in battles, so subtle camera movement would be a good idea worth considering but make it an adjustable setting, so people who don’t like it don’t have to use it. I have noticed that based on weapons range, ship position and current target, ships DO move to position themselves appropriately in

I usually have three fleets in every game I play. I don’t really have the problem you are describing because the enemy usually tries to fight it out… at first. Once the enemy fleet begins to retreat, I predict their destination and send another fleet there to lay in wait. Sometimes I manage to pursue the enemy fleet to a planet I have colonised, where a phase inhibitor is waiting for them, along with one or two of my fleets. Needless to say, they usually don’t last long! I once oblite
When this is happening, do you also have "invisible gunfire" from certain types of weapons? If so, it sounds like the same thing I've been noticing.
Now that you mention it, I'm sure I was missing some beam weapons fire during my last battle, unless the AI went a bit funny and my ships were doing nothing for a while. Lasers and auto cannon seem fine. Not sure about flak, can't remember noticing it.

I think perhaps we need to remember that this is a game that does a LOT of things right. I'm sure this problem and the others mentioned in other threads will be resolved in time. Just be patient. Hell, there are things that bug me about this game too. But there is still so much fun to be had when it works right. I'm just going to try me a big game now, I'll report back on what happens.

I have played a few games now. I managed to hold my own until I got greedy and attempted to annex one planet too many. I thought I could rely on my defences but they really are useless without a fleet nearby. Personally, I would rather have more effective defences that do more damage rather than simply “stall for time”. We don’t build defences for that reason alone in reality; they are also designed to HURT the enemy as well. Hell, it’s like building a load of farms in Warcraf

I am still having problems with ships disappearing as they are destroyed. Sometimes the explosions don't even appear or I get secondary explosions but the final explosion is missing. Really starting to bug me now (no pun intended) and it spoils the viewing pleasure of an otherwise awesome battle. Please, please fix this. I doubt it is my graphics card, as I get no other problems other than stupid frame rates during intense battles (fine one minute, low FPS the next)… it’s really odd. I
Ground Attacks sound nice, too. Invade the planet to steal ressources (money?). Techstealing is hard because everyone has other techs but maybe you can get a boost for your next research after "stealing" some techdata which means x% cheaper reserch for the next tech.
I like the idea of ground assaults a lot. Think Starship Trooper style, or the intro to Quake 4. Either have dedicated troop transport craft that land on the planet or perhaps a new capital ship which la

After a planet has been bombarded from orbit, I doubt the surface and atmosphere of the planet would be hospitable. Therefore, it makes perfect sense for “Terraforming” or something similar to be a necessary first step to colonisation. We should also be able to terraform less hospitable planets. This could provide gains in population, culture income etc. I too would also like more dramatic orbital bombardment. A greater variety of surface explosions would be nice and please mo
Your fleet is too massive and his chance to survive doesn't exist. His only option is to run away. Use two fleets. One to hit him softly and lure him into a fight, and the other to come in and do some damage before he can run away. You can also try to get a fleet ahead of his jump route and catch him running away right into your clutches.
I did the very same thing last night! I was chasing the remnants of the enemy fleet after an epic battle which ultimately resulted in

I couldn’t wait for UK shops to start supplying the game, so I downloaded it instead. The download software was easy to setup and the download speeds were awesome; I was playing within a few hours! I have managed to persuade at least 10 of my friends to buy it, none of them knew the game existed before I told them. I am really surprised by the lack of advertising / marketing. System Shock 1 and 2 did not get the recognition they deserved for the same reason. In fact, many class

Guess you'll have to wait for StarCraft II then :) Sorry it wasn’t to your liking. I personally love the interface. I only tend to look at my ships during a battle or creating control groups / fleets. I find research easy to manage, just click and forget. Sure, you can’t manage EVERYTHING at the same time, who can? Perhaps it will grow on you if you give it another chance.

I assume they didn't follow you back then?!? Here's a story based on my first proper game last night (which is still in progress)... I constructed two large fleets last night at my primary shipyards, only a couple of hops away from my homeworld. I attacked a neighbouring planet with both fleets, destroyed a number of structures and bombarded the planet from orbit with my capital ships. The enemy fleet showed up and my god, it was massive. I told both fleets to retreat back to t

Isn't it too late once the timer reaches 0:00? I assumed you had to do the bidding before that, and at 0:00 the pirates set course for the unfortunate looser?

6 Replies 6,584 Views

I couldn’t agree with you more. Our first experiences are much the same :) Pirates can be bribed and I love outbidding my opponent. It makes me feel all warm inside when I hear "A pirate raid is imminent" and the pirates never turn up in one of MY systems… poor poor AI, muahaha! The stickied guide really, really helped and I recommended that everyone takes a look.

If your ships are part of a fleet, can you not just click on the icon for that fleet to focus on it? If that fleet is part of the battle, you should then see it. Icons on the left hand side turn red when they are under attack, so you can simply click the desired icon and focus on it.
Describing the game as an RTS is pretty misleading though. It's like telling someone that WWW Link is a 4X game.
So how would you describe it then?? You play it in real-time, it isn't turn based and there is... strategy involved?
