This game clearly won't satisfy everyone. Not all games do. Perhaps some people just need to move on and forget about SINS, instead of wanting to change it so much that we won’t even recognise it anymore.

I think there is only one digital download version.
Yes you can. Select the structure you want to destroy then left click on the thin bar that is directly underneath the portrait. A self-destruct countdown will commence, which can be aborted if you left click the same bar again.
Can't you force installers to run in windows 2000 anyway, using run and a command line switch after the executable name? I remember System Shock 2 would not install in Windows 2000 unless you forced the installer to.
You can pause the game at any time, even online. As for giving orders while the game is paused, I think I did last night by mistake but I'm not sure about queuing orders.
Yes but how many changes will be made before the original concept is compromised?
I like the one that kinda looks like a Hyperion class cruiser from Babylon 5. It has beam weapons... I like beam weapons :HOT:
Just something I would like to share resulting from an hour of play time last night… I constructed two large fleets last night at my primary shipyards, only a couple of hops away from my homeworld. I attacked a neighbouring planet with both fleets, destroyed a number of structures and bombarded the planet from orbit with my capital ships. The enemy fleet showed up and my god, it was massive. I told both fleets to retreat back to the shipyards immediately, as I didn’t stand a chance.<br/
New player here. Haven't played that many RTS games. Playing on medium and loving it. Yes it's hard but why should it be easy? Where is the fun in that? Half the problems I have not experienced. Pirates I can handle, using the many tips and guides available. Hell, I even used them to my advantage last night. Siege frigates? No problem. The AI is random. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s a bit stupid but MOST of the time it’s f’ing excellent! My view is that there sho
Make sure you have latest drivers installed. I was using an Intel-based onboard graphics chip a while ago at work and I could not believe the difference afterwards. Sure, it wasn’t perfect but it did the job!
We don't need a petition matey, they have already stated that they fully intend to release a single player campaign! Worry not :)
More debris, more breakage! Wrecks drifting in space, even Freespace 2 style capital ship destruction would be awesome. More / greater effects would be awesome. And undoubtedly possible using DX9. However, just make sure they are adjustable in the menu and not permanent changes. That way, everyone wins :)
I imagine these are all deliberate compromises to make the game scalable for as wide a range of systems as possible. It would probably be too much work to create special animations, etc. for high-end computers.
I do understand this, I really do. And I think it's fantastic that the game scales so well, so almost everyone can play. But deliberate compromises may not have been necessary, if they were included as more options in the menu to adjust, instead of permanently cha
You can have MORE than ONE superweapon? :SURPRISED: Holy...
Ok, regarding speed preferences... Is it possible for a multiplication slider to be added? So you can tweak the existing settings? For example: |FAST| x |__0.0____1.0____2.0__||__3.0__| Or perhaps have it replace the original speeds entirely? For example: ___________________________________________________ |SLOW|_______________________________||____|UBERFAST| Sorry for the crude illustrations... Paint is not at my disposal right now :(
Just to clarify, the patch is for retail versions only, not the digitally downloadable version :) Since this game implements no form of copy protection, I doubt StarForce or something nasty has been installed. Install programs almost always ask you to reboot, even when you really don't have to. I guess old habits die hard i.e the Win95/98 era. Still, it IS still necessary sometimes, for the reasons I have already stated. I honestly think you have nothing to worry about. Althoug
Excellent post / guide! Thanks a lot for your time and effort :)
Already said it in another thread but what the heck... THANK YOU!
I agree, this should not be changed. It makes perfect sense to keep your research stations so you can build what you have researched. Also, it provides additional tactics. Imagine you have just taken out your opponent’s super weapon and part of their fleet but at a huge cost to your own forces. The enemy force has retreated. Do you lick your wounds and sit idly by while your enemy builds another super weapon? Or do you take a strike force into enemy territory to destroy a few research stations,
Yes! Thank you for reminding me about that. I noticed it when I built my first free Capital Ship. I don't mind the simplistic building animation as it's not something I'm going to be watching often. But I would much prefer my ships to leave the dock slowly and assume a basic formation at the rally point instead of appearing outside of the dock in an instant! Just another minor niggle... heh!
You can create maps without pirates. End of problem. I bet a patch will be released soon which will enable players to disable pirates, making existing pirate installations in maps "abandoned" or invisible. Even if this can't be done, just make your own maps (so so simple thanks to the fantastic GForge) or wait for new maps to be released which do not contain pirate factions. As for the "There is nothing to do in this game but wait for resources" comment, well, a lot of RTS games require
Fleets (not control croups) do stay in a formation and individual ships move around to engage targets in range and all that cool stuff. Moving ships has been beat to death during beta, and this is one thing that is very unlikely to happen. To everyone comparing it with Homeworld, the only ships that moved around were your fighters and bombers. And hey, guess what, fighters and bombers in Sins do the same thing! The scale in Homeworld was such that a frigate wasn't that much large
Absolutely! Just to add, the smaller ships don't necessary need any more work done to them, just please ensure they don't simply disappear into thin air while they explode! Larger ships however, especially the disappearing act mention in my original post, needs to be looked at. Or if it is a bug, please fix! Thanks!
Hello! Firstly, I would like to say that I am really enjoying this game. Thank you devs for a polished, stable and immersive experience from the word go. Now onto business! I experienced a few skirmishes last night and noticed a few things. Ship models simply disappear while they explode. I like the fire, smoke and debris etc but the overall effect is spoiled when the main hulk disappears into thin air. Not so noticeable at a distance though. Is this a bug or perhaps something
Some system changes are necessary. Most installers manipulate the system registry, which requires a reboot so the changes are applied, regardless if it is a local user or local system change. Temporary files are also generated by installers, some of which can only be deleted once the computer has rebooted and the files are no longer in memory / locked etc. I doubt it's anything to worry about.
