There is variety and IMO It's easily found by simply playing one faction for a few games vs another for some other games. I started out with the Advent, then went over to TEC. The Advent seem a lot more focused/good at Culture and defensive (shields, etc) types of attacking whereas the TEC seem more military/offensive focused instead of Culture.

1. Let us be able to reset the ESC key to bring up the menu if nothing is selected anymore like it did before the last patch, just make it a remappable key and let players choose if they want to use f10/esc. 2. Ability for AI to take over for players in MP/For players to join a game and take over AI if another player leaves. 3. More backrounds, variety is always nice and I would love to see more varied backrounds to the game. To my count there is only the Red, Green, Deep space

For me, this strategy has worked good with TEC so far. It's built around early offense and getting more planets as quickly as possible while having a decent offensive fleet. Apart from what most people should know to start out with (resource capping, free capital ship building, etc) the main thing to do is research the LRM frigate, you will need a couple of military posts for this. Once you have them learned pump out as many as you can afford at the time. Then group

Maybe i missed this somewhere, but I researched the ability the TEC has to jump from one system to another, how do I do this after that? If I take a ship and tell it to go to a further planet it will still go to the adjacent one, etc to get there instead of just straight to the planet I told it to which is what the research ability is supposed to allow...

Looking good, any plans for distant Nebula and other effects in the back round? One thing I feel is missing in detail more in the game. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebula http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/72/Omega_Nebula.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/46/Horsehead-Hubble.jpg http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/86/Rosette_nebula_s.jpg (the next pic is HUGE just so you know) http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2
90% of RTS games since Starcraft have used F10 to bring up the menu. One exception was Supreme Commander which to my horror, for SOME fucking reason BOUND 'RESTART MAP' TO F-10. AAAAAAAGH.
A lot of RTS games I've played over the years have used Esc to get out of things/back to the menu.

Yea, I was a bit dumbfounded at first by the multiplayer setup too. I clicked multiplayer and saw only lan and an IP box, I thought "oh no, there's no game browsing???" Then after going in ICO I thought that THAT was simply some type of "buddy list" where it said "add player" I assumed it meant add a player to your buddy list or something. So I was terribly disappointed and thought that you had to manually enter in an IP on the multiplayer screen to play a mulitplay

Some ships do move in combat, the Bomber/fighter squadrons that you can get from capital ships/hangers and such. Though they are so tiny that you mostly just see their icons moving about unless you zoom in on and follow them, but they move around and do striking/bombing runs, etc like ships would do in Homeworld. I think it would nice though, if some of the frigates/cruisers moved a bit, had to face targets differently depending on what they are firing (IE guns on their side vs front,

The defense hangers are like the EASIEST way to deal with pirates. I kept losing ships to the 10-20'ish pirate raiders that would come, I built a hanger with two bomber squads and one fighter squad, the pirates would jump into space and the squads would fly out and simply keep them at bay near the edge of the gravity well and I didn't have to even use any of my main fleet or other defenses.

Thank you :). I did a little more tinkering, for some reason a new save file it still allowed me to change the skyboxes around (Going from a deep space black one, to a red one, to green, then the cloudy/bright one). So scratch the last edit I did about the saved games not allowing out, must have just been that first save. I also checked in the user.settings file to look around and both options are marked "TRUE" in it.

Not sure if it's just me, but I believe I've found a bug. For some reason if i load or play a game with the "bright/cloudy" backdrop (the one you get in the advanced interface tutorial) it gets "stuck" as the only backdrop that comes up in any new maps. Upon a post on this a dev told me to check the "use coloured skyboxes" and "use deepspace skyboxes." Both of these were already checked. So I experimented. I exited out of the game then restarted it. I then when into

Ok, well I think I've found a bug then. Both of the options were checked. I unchecked them, then re-checked them and started a game, finally got some new backdrops that look more like deep space. However when I loaded up my save (to a lv that had the backdrop I was talking about) it seems that once this backdrop is loaded it gets "stuck" and any new-games that I start use it. Upon loading it, no matter if i uncheck/recheck the "use colored skyboxes/deep sp

This is probably going to sound dumb, but where do I browse/find MP games to join? In the MP screen all i see is available Lan games and a place to type the iP address. Please tell me that there's a simple browse function to join games or something? I find that a lot easier/quicker to just join random games rather then having to use forums for an IP , etc...

Not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong, but in the single player game no matter what level I select (I have tried both small and medium lv's) the space backdrop is always the same, even though the lv's talk about nebula's and other unique things the only thing that appears different is the planets/placements/sun type. It's like all the lv's are in the bright/cloudy looking backdrop that you see in the "advanced interface" tutorial.

I'm getting owned hard, even after the tutorial. Where do you get a free capital ship? Because I start a game, build a captial ship factory, then don't see anything about a free ship, just see what they all cost, etc. I build the one that has the ability to colonize and by this time I'm out of credits soon enough. (Built all the mining, etc but never seem to get credits...).

I just started a game, within the first five minutes of the game I sent a scout ship to the closest planet and there was literally around 20-25 frigates from an enemy already there! Luckily I had my scout ship retreat before he was killed, but man...I didn't have anything but one capital ship and a couple scout cruisers.
I am guessing that multiple battles on multiple fronts with these minimum system requirements demands a certain attention to a.i. allocation with respect to the vernier movements and actions of every single unit within the simulated galaxy, though, this is just a guess.
Well, I don't know exactly what resources or such it would take for this, but if the fighters/bombers from the capital ships can do it and the game runs smooth for

Yeah, overall the combat movement is one of the few things I'm disappointed about with this game. Most of the ships simply get into range, then sit perfectly still and just fire away at each other until one is dead. The only ships to seem to move around during combat are your fighters and such that are based from your capital ships. In homeworld you had ships constantly moving and it looked awesome. You had ships sweeping in and out for attack runs and overall the fi
