It seems that the TEC research tree for demanding gifts of money/metal/crystal is broken and can't be used anytime the player is TEC. It seems to work just fine with Vasari and Advent, but will not work at all for the TEC. I don't know if it does or doesn't work for the AI players, but can confirm (at least for me) that it never works when I am TEC. If anyone else is having this issue, feel free to post it here.

It's a bug with the TEC research tree. I've had this happen in every single game in which I am TEC. It works just fine for Advent or Vasari players. I posted a bug noticed, but the forums got wiped. So it'll be posted again.
My rig is nothing to scoff at in terms of performance. I may have worded it incorrectly since I finished so late last night - it wasn't necessarily a crash, it was more of a hang followed by non-response/praying I hit CRTL+ALT+DELETE properly. Either this is a desync issue with large numbers of pirate ships at any one time or due to pirates in multiple galaxies continuing to multiply and not get rid of themselves. Or it's simply a fact that a "fleet of that magnitude" (if
Imagine if you will, somebody has 200,000 credits lying around and opts to just spend them all on a single, massive, pirate mission. What does one get? They get a pirate fleet with a supply limit of 5000. Not only is this almost impossible to fight against - It's also impossible to get your game to run after they jump in. I crashed the game my friend and I were playing by sending in this ridiculous fleet of ships. Not only can this be used as an exploit t
Hmm, well lets not forget the diplomacy expansion is STILL IN BETA, and the game is NOT FINISHED
I don't think anyone is neglecting this fact. I'm just pointing something out that should be considered and be noted by the developers, as well as other players, as another aspect of warfare that is completely viable.
However, how would you be able to create at least a partial guarantee that the planet should be earned for a concession? For example, if it is to create a ceasefire, a player could easily cancel afterwards or would it have to rely on faith?
If it's single player, it'd be an AI Diplomacy factor like when you give them money or resources - It boosts them by 10% (max) favor and it slowly degrades over time. Since you'd be handin
I'm just hoping more of the options we get with epionage lead down the path of economically hampering an opponent. Thus far, we haven't really seen much in terms of economic warfare.
I think abilities for Embassies aren't implemented yet - I recall reading that they were going to have special abilities after you create them. As to their current immediate benefit, they provide +10% relations with an AI just for dropping one on their planet.
I may be borrowing it a bit from Civ4 where you could demand/buy/trade cities for other concessions. In terms of Diplomacy, I figure this would be a huge concession towards an AI to get them to consider a Cease Fire or Alliance earlier on. For multiplayer, an ice planet for a player who has only volcanic planets might be a good bribe to get them to do something for you.
I'm evil when it comes to economically trying to ruin another player. So anytime I get the option to undermine somebody and simply annoy them in such a manner I jump at the chance. Of course, it's equally as "fun" to have it happen to you.
A friend and I were playing a game of Entrenchment last night. To quickly summarize things, we had a really bad start and he ended up losing all his planets save for a capitalship with the ability to colonize. I ended up abandoning a planet to give him a fighting chance. Thus, leading to my suggestion: Should it possible to 'give' a planet from one player to another? Such a move is not beyond the realms of Diplomacy. Often times, concession of te
these are great ideas... for something other than a diplomatic cruiser.
This is one of my exact thoughts. Diplomats often times are held in such scruitiny that they usually aren't capable of being spies (although they could do be doing something). A Spy/Espionage ship that would require another Spy/Espionage ship to discover could add a lot of cloak and dagger gameplay. Give these ships the ability to trigger their
This might just be me being me, but please bear with me. In GalCiv2, when you use a Spy you place them on a planet on to a particular building. When she/he/it is placed, they begin to siphon or reduce the efficiency of said structure each turn until the other faction performs counter espionage to remove them. While they do this, they also increase your intelligence level allowing you to see more info over time. S
I'd love it if somebody were to actually look at this reference sheet...
Look up Dungeon Keeper, it's done by the same people who did Populous. It's just a bit smaller scale and could lead you to a bunch of ideas. However you might need a semi-decent team, you could try recruiting off SourceForge. I wouldn't recommend making a mod and gambling on it becoming as big as Counterstrike and getting bought out by the parent company. Most companies also reserve rights to simply take everything you make, slap a sticker on it, call it their own, and sell it. It's
Just something I found that modders might find useful. The SSD is related at an incorrect size, however it is correct to the Executor, but not an average for other SSDs that were constructed.
First, "Chinese water torture", with proper restraint, and sensory deprivation is considered to be an effect form of torture. Second, the Chinese have the longest recorded (written) history in the world. It encompasses about 1000-2000 years, a majority of which is Civil War. The Chinese were the first to invent the crossbow, and a repeating weapon (Cho Ko Nu). I believe they were also the first to use a type of land mine. The Chinese also have had two of the most well preser
It's not like it will be a long wait, hackers like a challenge and this new SecuROM feature will simply be hacked. It is just a matter of time. I don't necessarily support hacking, but there is a non-Steam-Steam - So I highly doubt it will be long before there is a non-SecuROM-SecuROM. It's inevitable when customers get treated this way.
I'm uncertain if anyone has heard this little bit about PC's Mass Effect, but apparently they're planning on using it with SPORE as well. This is by far what turns me off to buying the game completely.
Edit (as there is no "edit" button. Weird, I know) to the second line: "to balance out the multiple squadrons."
I've seen an edit button, but it does vanish after a certain amount of time after you post a reply. So if you need to make a change it has to be relatively quick.
Surumon take a count of people who actually played earthbound(I did for like a grand total of 10 minutes) and then you wont be so surprised .
Strange, almost everyone I know has played it and beaten it. =-=-= Staying a bit on topic, I'm not really going to argue which RTS is better. It's all a mute point really, everyone will stick to what they liked best and it won't really move beyond that.
Hard to imagine in all these posts about Starcraft, Sins, and RPGs I didn't even see one person mention Earthbound on the RPG part.
Well, I was going to combine a few graphics packs along with Sins Plus, but seeing as they're getting ready to put out the next patch again - Not to mention the Devs saying 1.10 isn't far off - I'd just post some instructions on how to do it yourself. Further, I don't mean to steal anyone's thunder with their own Mods and races, but I like the game so far without any new major additions. All it really needed was more planets and a few graphical touches which I think have been p
Not saying I know the entire inner workings of SD Central, but in terms of GalCiv2 I know this - When it installs the game via download it also puts some reference marker somewhere. If you were to just try running the game on another system it spits back that you have the improper machine ID, or something to that extent. My guess is so long as you download it via SD Central you can put it any machine you want, but you only have one sign in to play online via Ironclad. Edit : I
