Im a bit confused where to put everything as well, And what i came up with ended looking like this rendering it unplayable...Im guessing I screwed up somewhere(everything is fine untill the mod is loaded)
yep. now it does this for me too. i've been working on installing this thing for many hours now. there's ironclad folder, theres stardock folder, theres this texture folder and that texture folder. i think i need to sleep on this one and get back to it tomorrow. :
thanks man! dlng now! i went in and changed the star and planet textures myself from the original textures, to max teals. then i enabled your mod from the in game menu. this meshed both mods together, oceanic works but so far i'm getting black orbs up close for the others, and a window of them when zoomed out.
max, any way we can incorporate Uzii's oceanic planet mod with yours? here's his thread: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=443&aid=300281 your mod should be the backbone of all planet mods imo.
bummer, it conflicted with max teals. i'm going to stick with max's for now as it is a larger mod that covers more planets i saw you will be making forest worlds and other new planets that's awesome. fyi, you and max meshing his stars and planets with your work would be spectacular. just a suggestion...
we gonna be getting emails anytime soon or shirts???
what do you mean by "in the hands of the pirates"? if i kill them, the routes are revealed? i like your real-world approach. no green stars right? lol
i was worried about that too and i tried every combo possible. but once i got in game i realized that the particular "long" phase jump to the rest of the inner planets really isn't long at all. and it lets you get prepared when "they" attack your 3 starter planets. i think the phase jump is about 3 minutes long.
fyi, will this conflict with max teals planetary mod? or add on to it....
HEE HEE HEE!!!!!!! THIS IS SO COOL, INSTALLING NOW!!!!!!!1
interesting. i would have figured most of the kiddies would stick with halo and turok. yea, gotta find a tight group and schedule games to avoid that crap. plus i heard the new update replaces dropped players with AI.
"We would need a skin for moons... That could be tricky." not really.
I'm a huge Freelancer fan (and lead writer for Openlancer ) so I've also been trying to make a Freelancer map (with TEC Liberty, Rheinland, Bretonia, and Kusari, Advent Outcasts and Corsairs, and Vasari Nomads), though its difficult without the game handy to check my map positions. Using phase lanes to simulate both trade lanes and jump g
The Xtended Mod for the game X3 Reunion had some brilliant space scenes and special effects. Here is a link to show some of their space scenes, perhaps it can give you some ideas on how to make space more visually enticing: http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/gaming-discussion/24110-xtended-mod-x3-reunion.html
i just read up on that game, never heard of it till now. does it run good with the patches and does it have widescreen resolutions? fyi t
I like the idea of the "random" events that would occur like the black hole idea or micro meteorite showers. That would a nice touch. Well with the way the devs are these things may just happen.
yea like if you could see micrometeors (very rarely) flashing through a planets atmosphere. that would be a nice touch.
i had that idea of modding like 3 comets max, per system that would traverse each system on large eliptical orbits. but i was told it was stupid. i thought it would look cool and add even more of a sense of scale...
i haven noticed any asteroid fields in this game. jsut a few scattered asteroids, not "fields". and welcome to the vastness of space. i dont know what else to say. that's the way it is....
Is there any point or real demand in making multiple planet textures alone a large-scale release? The way I see it, there are no real differences between the types and no gameplay options concentrated around the planets themselves. It's basically just a couple of slot and population(=income) upgrades and quick access to orbital building options. Therefore, I'd rather try to implement new planet specific gameplay elements (GalCiv used to be considerably more advanced in that particular are
Then you would just be annoyed by the fact that the planets dont orbit
the orbits would be perpendicular to the star system, passing under and above the planetary plane. have like 3 comets max in each system. heck, throw in an asteroid field occasionally.
it would look cool.
elliptical orbits of course that pass far out beyond the planets...
just thought of this for mod. little comets that orbit the stars slowly....
this thread is awesome. thanks. :)
First off, im very impressed! But one of the gas giants icon in the infobar is wrong =P And while the original star textures were far too dim, i dont like your green or red textures either. Especially the red one isnt red enough, and the green one looks a bit puke-ish I do really hope you will make totally new textures as wel
well, it worked, and all i gotta say is thanks a LOT man, this changes the game BIGTIME. nice work! and thanks for all the help guys. now if we can get thicker whiter clouds!
