Securom certainly seems to be keen on trying to punish legit owners for the misdeeds of pirates... But I'm not going to regurgitate my feelings all over again, when I just wrote them all down: [link]http://www.totalgamingnetwork.com/main/blog.php?b=22[/link]
Or just run maximized in windowed mode so you can still see the taskbar with its clock (and easily do stuff on a second monitor, etc). I don't care for xfire myself.
I love X-fire, mainly because I love being able to IM people while I wait for the slow parts of the game to pass by.
This was the 4th night in a row that I missed 2 hours of sleep because I stayed up too late. Sure I could look at a clock, but I've come to love in game clocks and prefer those.
I know it's not exactly what you wanted - but download [link="www.xfire.com"]X-fire[/link]. If you're running it in the background while playing the game, you have the option to tack on an easy on the eyes FPS counter, as well as a clock.
Going through every single page on the Mod Forum here, I've noticed a severe lack of interest in some mods which I feel are particularly spectacular. So for the sake of making sure that they get the recognition that they deserve, I've decided to add to the [link="http://roe.totalgamingnetwork.com/wiki/index.php/Category:Sins_of_a_Solar_Empire%2C_Mods"]Mod Section[/link] on my [link="http://roe.totalgamingnetwork.com/wiki/index.php/Sins_of_a_Solar_Empire/Main_Page"]Sins of a Solar Empir
It's definitely something I'd like to do, but I can't think of anything that wouldn't make it more cluttered. I'm always open to suggestions though, if someone downloads the Excel version, fiddles around with it, and comes up with something workable.
I tried just that for you. I tested these out on my worst printer (Black and White/8 years old/900px x 1300px) - and they all came out rather well. The capital ships one was a little squished, but it managed to still come out
Since I know a lot of you are huge fans of the EncyClanPedia, I figured this would be a great place to advertise our contest - since literally anybody is eligible to enter and win. I will be awarding Trusted User status to up to three people who can make the best non-clan page on the [link="http://roe.totalgamingnetwork.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page"]EncyClanPedia![/link] This is a for this week only event (March 11th-16th, 2008), which means I will pick a
Competitive players: ruining gaming for over a decade!
This is one of the rare instances where I agree with you.
I'm taking a short break off of work for the next week - so while I'm gone, the staff of the [link="http://roe.totalgamingnetwork.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page "] EncyClanPedia[/link] have decided to try out accepting anonymous edits on the ECP during my absence. This of course is nice for me, since I won't be doing any of the work, plus I get t
The Twin Dunov Strategy could crush your Advent Strategy.
The thing about jumping deep into your opponent's empire means that your empire will be also be vulnerable to the same tactic. Then it comes down to who has the most fortified homeplanets, etc... Remember to heavily fortify your coreworlds, and that your outer worlds are the least important.
Like-wise a mobile defense fleet should always be waiting to jump into action. Nothing says "I hate Siege Spam" like twenty fighter squadrons.
Look at Sins for PRIME example. Its multiplayer is pretty shitty right now (in my opinion). But it has NO singleplayer game either. They just created a game and pushed it out the door. You can skirmish vs AI or players... No need for story lines and named heroes.
You've just contradicted yourself, saying that it doesn't have a single player mode, but it has Skirmish vs AI? You'd be right if it said it didn't have a Campaign Mode... but I never play Campaigns a
Title pretty much says it all mouse set up is for right handed and i haven't found a way to switch the mouse buttons most games (as in major studios/publishers) just take the settings from the PC itself is there a fix i couldn't find?
Use a key-stroke emulation program to switch the keystrokes of the mouse buttons around? (Most Logitech mouses come with this kind of program.)
If some one breaks into your shed, you would put a lock on it. Its not really different with games, but Stardock is doing pretty well without a lock, but its hard to track these kinds of things.Actually it's more like you buying a car, only there's a device hidden in the driver's seat that propels an iron spike through the body of whomever is in the seat if the car thinks you're NOT the original owner.I buy a car, I'm going to do whatever I damn-well want with it. This still applies to ev
You have to wonder if Titan Quest would have sold better if they used no copy protection like Stardock's games.
Titan Quest would have sold much better if it wasn't a slower, less fun version of Diablo 2. Unlike THQ's recent family addition Frontlines: Fuel of War - which is actually fun, Titan Quest kind of deserved it's failure. A reminder to the would-be developers out there that ripoffs don't pay off, unless they're better than the game they're ripping off.
Remember: Every game can be picked and knicked apart.
More like everygame IS picked and knicked apart. People are people, and people are unreasonable and spiteful beings. As for the rest of us? We're lucky to be able to appreciate and enjoy our toys.
Theres threads like this on every game's forum. Criticism is nice, but theres no such thing as a game-breaker so long as people are able to play the game.
or Darth Vader "Nooooooooooooo"
That would make the game more fun in my eyes.
Space is 3D? Whatever happened to String-theory and M-theory and Time for that matter?
I can't believe how every single forum, for every single game has somebody making threads like this. It's actually getting to the point where I'm getting angry. How the hell do developers put up with this?
Cruiser Carriers: Increased fighter/bomber capacity to 4. This makes them more viable to use when attacking a heavily defended planet since the planatary defense hangars have been increased, and makes having a few flak frigs part of your fleet much more useful.
Um. Wow. I know Flak Frigates needed to be made more important, but 4? - With this mod on, I could play as Advent, and win the game the moment I get my second Hostility Temple up. Nobody could stop a carrier rush o
The big advantage of hangars? Range. They can hit anything in the gravity well, unlike guns which have to be placed? Only 1 way into the system? Guns may be the way to go. 5 phase lanes into the system? Maybe think about hangars.
The big disadvantages of hangers? ~Low damage output for the number of tactical slots that they cost. ~Easily countered by flak cannons, special skills that cost only 100 anti-matter, and enemy fighters. ~Are only really u
Is it easter already?
To further elaborate my point, since you didnt end the debate itself but at most your participation if you dont continue with it, 4X games have the gaining of completely new abilities at their core, while games like Sins play with a somewhat limited pool of tools so that "martial" decisions become the focus of a game.
Technically, any technology tree that doesn't expand indefinitely has a limited pool of tools that force "Martial" decisions - more to the point, the 'new a
Don’t make me register on your website just so I can download updates. You’re right. How dare they actually generally attempt to make sure they get paid by limiting the release of patches an updates to registered users. I mean with all the DRM and copy-protection on their aps … All the none, that is. While your opinion may be as welcome as chlamydia at Frolicon, you’re welcome to it. Just as it’s more than reasonable for Ironclad to want people to have bought their game before they han
The discussion seems to be pretty much an argument between the RTS crowd that is happy with, as Therlun said, the "deathmatch" RTS style game designed for a fast, evening long war and the strategy crowd that wants a game deep and long enough to offer the opportunity to make strategic and operational choices (as Woas said, like Hearts of Iron, Europa Universalis and Crusader Kings). The game has strong elements of both styles of games. The RTS crowd is happy with the game as it is, but the
