Dairuka, I'm not saying Sins is bad or a "clone RTS", but as mad_axemen pointed out already almost all the points you mention are just as suitable for any of the standard RTS games. Both game types describe actually somewhat similar gaming concepts. If you take it word by word even Warcraft 3 or Starcraft are actually 4X games, as even with given maps scouting (exploration) is a big part in any game, and the other three Xs are the core parts of any RTS anyway.I agree that Sins has some poin
I disagree with the use of hangers at all (although I play Vasari, and lose 10 tac slots for phase stabilizers). If your opponents send a massive carrier fleet in, you're screwed anyway. There's no way you can have enough hangers to handle that, and you need to call in your fleet. If they don't send a massive fleet in, your defence force should be able to get there fast enough to stop any major damage. Meanwhile, hangers are fragile and do far less damage than turrets.
I

A dedicated attack force should always beat out a static defense only planet. This is to prevent the game from becoming turtle-central. Of course, a dedicated attack force doesn't seem to have the juice to do it with two planets in a row... I've never lost more than one planet at a time, not even in multi-player. Hangar defenses are only meant to be used as a deterrent to those annoying small raiding carrier fleets, or LRM fleets. Both of which are cap

I play this game off-line about 90% of the time, and it seems to keep me very entertained. You probably expected it to be a 4x game, or an RTS. Sorry it didn't meet your expectations - but it's a RT4X.

Especially that you're fighting rebels for the first half an hour anyway and their siege frigates holding you from colonizing are torn into pieces by fighters.Akkan is the best first choice for TEC except for very small maps where a quick confrontation is imminent. On very small, I'd go for Sova anyway. The problem with sure-fire strategies against humans is the fact that humans are capable of adapting to your strategy, and thus are always in a position to counter your strategy with a strategy of their own. Thus, you won't get any monolithic strategies like you'd see regarding the AI. Instead, at best, you can grasp onto the small tidbits that the experienced Multiplayered Veterans let loose by accident during an internet argument over what is better. Right now, the g

I agree with you on most points. I'm not going to debate the other points I don't agree with, mainly because I made the mistake of adding the word "Human" to the guide, and I didn't define what this strategy is made for. First I'll remove the word "Human" from the strategy guide, as it is indeed, mostly a comp-stomping guide meant to help brand new players get an idea of optimizing the strengths of a particular race. Not to mention, how to make a good start in Single Player mode. I'll p
Stardock releasing an optional Single-player Campaign for Sins of a Solar Empire in dozens of monthly chapters at the low-low cost of $7.49 an installmentPay-per month only works for the MMO's... right? That's a rip-off and only fools would fall for that (which is why DLC works on the Xbox).
I would love to play this game more with harassing and less with massive fleet-to-fleet combat (not saying fleet combat is bad, just that I would like to try some harassment). However, I really don't know how to make it work. My first thought would be Vasari with Marauder accompanied by some siege, using the speed-boosting ability to run if any hostile fleet comes by. Beyond that, the only thing I've been able to do is make people jump their fleets around a lot by feinting at different lo
