I happened to stumble on to this update after a few months of not looking at the site. Here are my thoughts: Like many people, I was extremely excited when Elementals was first announced and, like many people, I was completely aghast at the final product. I had basically given up on Stardock as a company after that disaster, but this post gives me a lot of hope. I'm looking forward to seeing how FE turns out. Also, I'm *very* happy to hear that multiplayer will be in.

First thing I did in the game was change the resolution to fit my laptop screen. There wasn't an apply button and there was no feedback on clicking back to the main menu. A restart of the game did pick up the settings, but the lack of feedback was a bit weird... Also, setting the resolution to "Custom" doesn't seem meaningful in fullscreen mode and there's no feedback given on that either. Not sure if this should go under another post...

Haha! I can't believe I missed that. I even double-checked after I started writing my post. I blame the PAX Swine Flu, which I was lucky enough to contract :-) That's amazing news, though. This whole thing here keeps getting better and better!

I heard at the PAX presentation (and on a dev post earlier this year, I think) that Stardock is going to host all multiplayer games for EWOM, partially due to the fiasco with Demigod earlier this year. However, there appears to still be some question about whether this is for all online games or for all multiplayer period (ie, essentially meaning no LAN play). Which is it? Could (or has) anyone from Stardock comment? While few things (not including this) could dissuade me from buying

To answer my own question: With all of the graphics settings set at low (ie, no AA, everything in the 'Effects' options set at low or none) the game runs great on a 2.4ghz P4 with 512 megs of ram and a Geforce 420 Go (32 mb of video ram). I haven't had any battles with more than 30 ships or so, but so far it has been quite playable. It gets a tiny bit choppy when you zoom in on battles, but other than that there are no problems.

I'm interested in having LAN parties of Sins of a Solar Empire, but most of us have oldish computers (ie, lucky if we have 64mb of video ram, some have 32). I've seen games before that listed their min requirements as 128 megs of video ram but would run even on 32 megs. Is this such a game? We meet all the other requirements, including a passion for very long LAN games.
