Awesome post!!! Yes, I hope the game makers can focus on improving the AI (enemy and friendly)!

I know it is herd for Mr. Grehghost to not feel attacked and to respond defensively. However, I feel this is a perfect opportunity for him and his clan to show maturity. Instead of replying negatively to the comments it is an opportune time to reply positively to the comments. I hope he will take this advice. Showing that he and his group is a class act can only attract more members to his clan. good luck. [e digicons]:dog:[/e]
Unfortunately, no, but that's not a bad idea for a mod. The game host could select a number of free techs that people could start with and then the players could choose how to allocate them when the game starts.
cool idea!

No proof has been provided so it is his word alone. No corroboration has been offered. There has only been debate on the ethics of kicking others to let friends/familiar people into a game rather than have an unknown. He just wanted to gripe and accomplished that purpose.
I played in tons of online games and watched replays from tons more. It always seems the technology level never gets that high. You never see a lot of interesting late techs come out in a game. Are people really so happy with just scout spam, lf spam, lrf spam, illum spam, etc? Can we say BORING? When can we see some subverters or phase gates? Returning Armada? Antimatter rechargers? Superweapons? I'm not sayin
Very sad behaviour if this event is true. To wrap this up quickly the BIA leader should have addressed the alleged members involved in this event and make an apology to the public about their poor behaviour (he could even toss in the caveat of "if true, our group is sorry for their behaviour..." - at least this would have been the mature thing to do imho, ymmv). Being selfish is not an excuse for this, or other equally disdainful, alleged behavioiur since this online gameplay is fr
I came across ship blocking last night for the first time (i'm a newbie) playing against the AI. it was the AI cruiser-size ship (just a cruiser) that was unintentionally blocked and eventually destroyed by my fleet. I did think it was quite odd considering that it is supposed to be a 3D environment.
note: you turn pirates on or off from the game options screen that comes up right before you start a match.
This is what I do for my soase games. I quickly grew tired of having to babysit the pirate auctions to try to have the pirates attack my enemies and not me!
nope, no reverse thrusters and minimal preset actions (you can set autoattack and range of autoattack to hold, local, gravwell)
OK! Thanks for the info. [e digicons][/e] I will look up the parts for autoattack!
complete newb here... I have been looking in the manual and online and I didn't see the following: Reverse thrusters for the spaceships? This would be nice. Often when I am battling a fleet and need to retreat my ships do not reverse they fly closer to the enemy fleet in order to make an arc to the escape point. Are there any settings I can set for a fleet/spaceships? I can't recall the name of the wargame at the moment (TOAW?), but one of them has su
thanks for the tips on taking out enemy starbases. I'm a newb to the game and I coming across my first game on Hard difficulty playing as TEC. I have a slight upper hand in control of the map (sumfink like 8 planets to enemy 6) - but the enemy has these BUFF starbases (like ~15,000 defense points! insane!) that can move around the planet! I tried going toe-to-toe with one enemy starbase using my fleet and got decimated. I almost lost the game when enemy counter
Hi All, I am new to Sins and am still trying to learn the game, but I am enjoying is greatly. Anyway, I figured I would order the Entrenchment expansion and learn it all at once. Haven't ordered yet due to the many and various posts I have read about the AI not building starbases and getting trashed when they run into yours. I have asked this questions before about the (apparent) major problem the AI has with the starbas
thx much for all the suggestions. I think my weekend will be devoted to this game. LOL
I ran into a similar problem with not having enough logistic support at some of my planet for critical space platforms. I found out taht I could scrap unnecessary or redundant platforms in order to free up slots for the platforms I need. I believe all you have to do to scrap a platform is select it and you will see the
good thread! I've bought SINS last week and so far have knocked off 3 games on the easiest settings. Some good tips in here.
So is it safe to say sins is le caput? I come here once in a while now and it seems like nothing is happening. I hope IC has just given up on the Expansion and is putting resources into a sequel! Systems instead of planets!!!
I just bought the game last week!!?? I certainly hope it is not dead!! haha good stuff!
my apologies if this has already been mentioned... Are there any player leagues for SOASE? One of my favorite PC games is the GTR2 racing sim. The pickup races for GTR2 can be a hit-and-miss affair at times due to 'wreckers', that is players who deliberately attempt to ruin the race. One way around these wrekcers is the use of racing leagues on password-protected servers.
Thanks! [e digicons]:sun:[/e]
I will likely never play a game of SINS against humans because I am such a poor player. Even in team games I am so bad I am a liability to my team! If I can team up with YOU to play other humans I may consider it in the future. OT...does this SINS game have any ranking system? Play on!!! A lot of new online players play cooperative games against AI. This trains you to
I've come across this sentiment in a couple threads so I thought it might be time for a separate discussion. Does a fear of experienced players and/or pro players keep you from coming online? My advice is to accept that you have to take your lumps and pay your dues in order to become experienced and also to look over the player records before a game is about to start and politely request that the teams be balanced and mention tha
I played and won my first game of SINS! I ran through the first two tutorials before diving into my first game. I have a very very low "Twitch Factor (TF)" rating. Therefore, I pickd the smallest map and easiest AI with Pirates turned ON. I had a couple of close calls, but I finally stumbled into a victory after almost 6h (time was flying by...sign of a good game! imho, ymmv)! haha The game has a lot of depth - I feel like I am just scratching the surfac
Hi, I see this post started in 2008. Does the download keycard still work for the latest update of SOASE? V1.17? thanks!
Full disclosure - I haven't read all 7 pages of this thread. I am a SOASE+entrechnment noob. However, the idea of Flak on all capital ships sounds like a good idea! I would like to see this in-game if it is not there already. I see that some of my capital ships have fighter squadrons. Does anyone know if modern naval carriers carry flak guns? I assume they do. So, I would like to see flak guns on capital ships. As others have stated - the numb
