This is a good thread! I've always wanted a complete list of DT smurfs [e digicons][/e]

Heavy Cruisers (HC) are the top direct-fire ships in the game, so you aren't really going to be able to counter them with lower-tech ships unless you have alot lot more of them. Like alot... Against a fleet of heavy cruisers with repair I would probably build a bunch of carriers/bombers. Send your carriers running around the gravwell to kite the heavies and focus your bombers on the Hoshis (repair) first, then the HC. Any other ships you have should focus on other sh
You could do it on Google docs like this helpful chap if you wanted: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/177682 ;P
yah, you'll see in online play that everyone has a cap ship first thing...In fact, alot of games end when that free cap is destroyed by one side or the other, because the next one costs too much and losing your 1st cap can often put you too far behind to catch up. You should see your expansion really speed up when you start building a cap first thing
hi XaviorFist, A few things to start well: All of this is happening at the same time, basically as soon as the game loads... I like to build my capital ship factory first thing, as you get a free capital ship. I usually go for the colonizing cap, which is really helpful at getting planets quickly. Make sure you kill any siege ships before you colonize, but you can finish off the rest of the militia after you colonize, since they will focus on your cap and c
I'm not really a nub, but I'd be happy to play sandbox with nubs and pause to give tips or try things out if that interested anybody. I'll be on for a couple of hours Satuday morning EST Ke5trel
lock please
played a game last night where one opponent spammed cobalts - really effective against carriers, as noted, but pretty useless when I brought heavy cruisers in.... From that I'd say 20-30 cobalts max, if you see your opponent going carriers, then start pulling out some other ship types. That said, I'm really liking the utility of light frigates in this build. Their speed makes tactical manuever possible against more powerful ships. Sometime soon I'll
Incidentally, RockPaperShotgun just gave you guys major kudos for both the game and the incredible patching it has received: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2008/12/11/the-12-games-of-christmas-day-4/#more-6085

so how many Hoshinkos are we talking? 50% of your fleet?
no worries at all :) Interesting perspective - TEC should lose the battle, all things being equal, because it can afford to replace its ships where the other races can't. This might need a buff then, because when I play as Vasari TEC is usually spending all that money to buy my crystal :P
Furthermore the 1.1 patch was about making balanced fleets and your saying QQ if i make an unbalanced fleet i loose
Kruppe, what are you talking about? Look at the original post. No one is talking about making unbalanced fleets. I am trying (with your help?) to figure out how to make a balanced TEC fleet that stands a chance against a balanced Advent or Vasari fleet - specifically without relying too much on capital ships...
Well it realy depends on your oppenents and if you get tehre before them or not. Soemtime just 20 fighters will do but otehr times you need to ahve only that and rely on your combabt ships to kill the enemy fleet. Also gettign a few flaks is always good 10 to 20 is what you want no mroe then that or it is just wasted supply. Unless your vasari, then you can spam flak frigs like mad. Untill your opent out spams you with light frigates. [/
So I'm trying to figure out how TEC fits in the 1.1 game. Yes their capships have useful abilities (please don't marzabait on me) but where do TEC fit into a carrier race? Can we come up with a scenario where TEC wins a carrier battle against matched Advent or Vasari without Cap abilities? I'm thinking a 30 minute fleet with legs would be 15 carriers (all fighters), 15-20 LRM (reserved for cap killing), 40 Cobalts (carrier-killers), and 20 or more Ho
As Vasari, I supplement my carrier fleet with MARZA! O wait this isn't the marzabaiting thread.... But yeah, if you spammed carriers only and still lost the strikecraft battle maybe you should consider at least a minimal diversity of 2 light frigates for every carrier you build for your next fleet. Unless he's got a huge number of bombers or light frigates and as long as I have other ships I'll keep the carriers in the gravwell - better than the AM hit.
Hey Saurabh, I like Vasari, personally. If TEC got some love I'd play them too. Kinda hate Advent
Yah, good point, Cykur... [suitably chastened] [e digicons]:pout:[/e] No more throwaway one-shot strategies, then. As an aside, you will get much better if you develop against many players, instead of just one. PM me if you want to get a 1 v 1 game Saturday morning, OP, and we'll see if we can't find some solutions. Ke5trel
You could always scout rush. Should be viable on a 10-15 planet map, as long as he isn't more than three jumps away. Find his home planet and send 3-5 scouts to it in a pack right away. Kill his construction drones with your scouts. Keep your scouts circling his planet gravwell and bring them in to kill drones every time they respawn. This should keep him from getting Trade up in time to beat your rush, because he won't be able to build research labs
All of the above are misleading. Karma is actually the heavenly gift of Our Hero (tm) and savior Frogboy. Karma flows from Frogboy, through the Children of the Frog, and finds its natural resting place in the Eternally Helpful Annatar11. All Hail the [e digicons]:frogboy:[/e] !!!
so guys, word is that Beta 2 is not coming this week, although Tri's sources are mysterious....
No problem :D Thanks for the karma
You ask them what DT ever did to them and they either don't respond or they say we stack the teams.

Well....if one side is DT....the teams probably ARE stacked, unless you take the time to set up a game vs other experienced players. We need to get the Siddy / Gini public relations team on this immediately!
It's like a team of pool hustlers complaining that the marks don't like them any more :D It probably doesn't help that you'll see one DT
