1. Go carriers yourself, build fighters, and research the crap out of phase missiles. He will have more fighters because he is Advent, but your fighters will hit alot harder, and you will be able to field 3 carriers for every two of his cause Drone hosts are pricy. You can ignore his fighters and go mostly bombers too, if you want. Vasari bombers are tough , and if you have enough of them you will destroy his drone hosts before the drones redu

yah carrier/bombers sorta works right up until he starts pulling out all those TEC repair ships, which come soon after the third or fourth Marza. Keep in mind that your bombers have to kill the Marza while they are in the same grav well. That doesn't give you alot of time considering it takes all of 30 seconds for a Marza spam to reduce a fully fortified Terran homeworld and move on to the next one....So unless you are really far away or he is otherwise occupied you prob

yep, you can do this with movement too, so you can hold shift while you instruct your scout to move in a circle around the gravwell... You don't have to worry about squadron management unless you have strikecraft. With strikecraft it basically tells you how many of each you have and lets you build more by clicking on either fighters or bombers. You can set the stance of your fleets and ships, but most players will leave this at default unless they can't micro

One thing that would be kinda cool and not too difficult to implement: allow individual players to upgrade non-citadel buildings using their own gold. Examples: I see alot of pressure coming from the left lane, I spend 500 gold to slightly increase the attack speed of the Tower on that side, or it's health regen, or splash damage, etc. Maybe I want to give my team a slight discount on their gear, so I spend 2000 gold to upgrade the gea

[quote]Lets say the whole team can vote for something. Whoever is doing best gets most votes and whoever is doing worst gets least. I'm not sure how easy it would be to assign votes based on merit but it's a good way of making sure the veterans get to use th

Hi Alfdaur, as soon as things settle down a bit I'll update one of the strategy posts up for 1.1. Meantime, a couple of tips, assuming that you have the basics of a good start down: Regardless of race, learn to play and love carriers. If you tech to carriers right out of the gate then your scouting reveals that you don't need them no problem, but right now they are the most versatile units in the game for both offense and defense. Make sure you have the capab

Lol, I knew that was you, gui . We played a game this weekend where you had 4 Marzas up in 20 minutes, pretty funny...It was gg pretty much from the beginning since it was 2 vs 4, but the missile barrage toward the end took my level 7 Space Whale down in about 5 seconds, along with the rest of my ships...so yah, might be a leettle overpowered but only for people who spam Marzas. Who else do you know who does that?

yah, I'm having no trouble playing as Vasari against Advent online...Just because this has become more than a two-ship type/two-cap type game doesn't mean it's broken. FWIW, and what I was trying to get at with my earlier comment, Advent carriers produce more strikecraft, and Vasari carriers produce *better* strikecraft, for 2/3 the cost. And both Vasari bombers and fighters benefit from phase missile techs, which means I'm gonna carve past your Advent shields in no t

I don't know about this whole "Advent Owns All" narrative. Sure, when you get Siddy's battleball up you are close to unstoppable, but before that? Let's strip out micro, tech, and abilities and look at basics for a moment. No micro on ten Vasari Carriers vs. ten Advent Carriers, all fighters, half and half, and all bombers. Who wins?

You need a team to back you up if you are building multiple caps in competitive online play. Unless your opponent sucks. Having said that - Two Kortuls chaining nanites = GG Siddy, did you get GO BIG OR GO HOME in multiplay using the GBOGH mod/rules? If not that's pretty impressive :D

Marauder is really good in a rushing 1 v 1, since your cap ship never has to retreat as long as it has antimatter...or you could just keep your opponent's cap ship from retreating, trigger phase every time he warms up to jump, but there are better abilities for that one.. Innociv used Marauders all the time and he knew how to play a lil bit...Or did I just date myself? 1. Yes. Destroying caps gives the best experience, and from there it pretty much scales by ship tier. Structures give xp. Not sure on planet infrastructure. 2. Faction or race have no bearing on xp delivered. Heavy Cruisers give the most xp, but each ship's info card will list how much xp is delivered when you have your cursor over a ship. 3. Regardless of faction, team, or race, cap ships will split xp within a given grav

Yep. You make a percentage any time anyone (including you, I thought?) spends money or trades. I guess the idea is that your faction controls all commerce, and so gets a piece of every pie. It is one of the best ultimate techs in the game, and against multiple hard AI becomes a priority as soon as your fleet is strong enough to hold back the horde for a bit.

OK, Annatar is correct - there is no obligation on the part of the losing party to quit or surrender. I wouldn't even say it falls within the realm of etiquette. Jixra is pointing to something a bit harder to pin down, but equally valid. Namely, a 'good' player in Sins, as in Chess, is able to see enough moves ahead to predict unavoidable victory or defeat. Ever see The Seven Samurai? Two guys face off and it's clear one will win bef

I'm not an apologist or a fanboy, and arguments could be made that would back up a case of refunding purchase price on Sins. Just not for Conte. Please understand, Conte, I'm not trying to pick on you, probably only played a couple games with you, but to go back to the car analogy, you are like a guy who has been driving his car around with a big smile on his face for 8 months. There are always alternatives to light frigates or Illums to counter grav-runners. TEC and Vasari end-line Heavy Cruiser abilities. Subverter swarms. These are mid-game rather than early and take micro, but they have the advantage of being relevant against *any* other ships your opponent throws at you, once you cripple his carrier fleets.

I'd like to clarify. People are not really cheating. A resource exploit existed in vanilla 1.1 which has since been removed. I played a 1.1 game and the replay revealed that one opposing team member was showing another how to perform the exploit, but the first guy then immediately told the second not to abuse it, and the game was played fairly to completion. In a different community this would have been abused far more than it was, and

Conte.... If that's your nick I'm pretty sure your stats show well over 300 games played on ICO....and that was in June, when last I played you...pretty sure I've seen you on since I got back into it this month... Is the idea that you were only playing those 300+ games while waiting for the patch, and therefore deserve a refund? That's like buying a car, driving it 180,000 miles, and asking for a full refund because it hasn't lived up to expectations. &nb
