Just to be sure. You mean the AI opponents or human ones that just get fed up with it?
Human opponents.
[MAGOG]Kruelgor
MAGOG clan will be hosting tryouts for our 2008 Roster on Friday, April 11th.
You mean the game really stops and says you won? Gives you the won or keep playing screen? I didn't know that if that is the case.
Yes, the game ends because the opponent leaves the game because they hate it when they lose planets to culture. They just give up and leave. Game over.
I predict you will see people complaining soon how Advent is too powerful because of the Illuminators. To me, everything is balanced and perfect.
I would like culture to be revisited altogether, maybe made harder or some other way so it could somehow be a winning condition.
Man, I don't know if I was playing against newbs or what but I've won many games with culture. Based on end-game statistics that I have looked at recently, very few people produce any culture at all. Those are easy victims to culture.
No such thing as a perfect game.
That is a matter of opinion.
A free trial now doesn't tell me what I can expect in terms of future content. That would do nothing to address my concern.
That's a lame excuse. Simply cancel your monthly subscription if you become dissatisfied in the future. Play the free trial.
I'm not going to drop $10 a month
You speak as if you would be forced to pay $10 per month for the rest of your life. Hahaha! Just cancel your monthly service if you become dissatisfied. Case closed
I appreciate the sentiment. But why would Ironclad ask us about what their future is?
A wise businessman seeks the opinions of his consumer base. It's perfectly fine. It doesn't mean he has to agree with it. I've seen many closed-minded know-it-all business leaders ignore the outside world and they end up failing in the end. Frogboy is obviously a shrewd businessman.
v1.07 up, updates for 1.04, a few small fixes, and a speeds chart:
Thanks Zyrxil. Many of us appreciate it.
A great many people aren't going to pay single-game subscriptions without knowing what they're getting.
That's why it would have a free trial.
I'm not going to pay a company $10 a month
I think that is a lie from most people's mouths in attempt to save some money. They will pay. Good games are addicting and people will pay for their addictions.
How the hell did this topic get so lop-sided? We went from discussing Long Term development ideas to trying to rationalize and find a reason for using subscription fees... WTF? Please, pretty please with a great sugar-frosted caramelised cherry on top, stop trying to promote subscription fees as a good idea.
Welcome to the very near future buddy. You guys can complain until you're blue in the face. Games have been costing $50 for 15 years. It's just not feasibl
also, to adress ur "real life" statement, look at iraq, we dont even actually know who or what were fightin, i mean anyone can call themselves al-quada and than they can freeze all ur bank-accounts and travel privileges just in case!!! without a shred of evidence! But i'll just stop here before i fuck up the topic of disscusion anyway, in real life the "enemy" can be even more elusive...
We know exactly who the government of Iraq is allied with. You are refe
Another idea is to partner with other game developers and offer a bundle pack of various games (must be new releases) for a low monthly subscription rate.
A monthly subscription will work if: 1. The game is absolutely amazing. 2. The game has a free trial period. 3. The game allows players to reach different levels and unlock special abilities. 4. The game has a sophisticated and in-depth leaderboard system. 5. The game has a sophisticated and in-depth member profile system. 6. The game has a sophisticated and in-depth chat & messageboard system. It would be quite an investment, but would pay off
It's a good idea because in real life you usually know who is allied with who, and who is at war with who.
jreichman1 said
Your charts are superior by far to Kruelgor's. He's effing retarded. Keep up the good work!
Now that's not very nice, my Jewish friend from New Jersey. His chart is nice, for sure. My chart is just a basic chart for beginners. I've always said that. I might update my chart soon to reflect the same type of info as this one.
great chart. when do you plan to udpate it for 1.04 patch?
what would be the best defense to set up for your choke points?
For me, I like to build 2 to 3 frigate factories at my choke points and guard them with a dozen or so plasma turrets. I build this mob of mess closest to the planet surface so to provide planet defense too. I personally do not like hanger defenses and find them ineffective.
HuntinX has a great strategy for TEC. Here is his [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/300907"]link[/link]. I would also recommend to study this [link="http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p7xc_snd9Cc-6o2UwvPEWUg&gid=2"]ship chart[/link].
Progenitor with level 3 shield, Guardians with extra shields and infinite antimatter... Invincibility. Use whatever offensive ships you chose to. Hell, use Defense Vessels to take down Caps, you have the time...
If I came across a strong shielded fleet such as this then I would concentrate on attacking your infrastructure, structures, mines, planet bombardment, etc. I would just skip past trying to kill the mothership and attack your planets instead.
I fixed that for you, Kruelgor. leadhead, there shouldn't be such a thing as a "late game race". Across all tiers, all races should be equally potent, just potent at different stuff. In 1.03, the Advent were a gamble to survive the first 20 minutes, and then they started to rule. In 1.04, they just rule. Nothing compares to Progenitors with Guardians and Light Frigs...
I like the balance. However, I don't know too much about the late game phase since my online g
In the patch this damage type has been nerfed to do 75% versus light instead of the previous 100%
Oh wow. I didn't realize that. Thanks for letting me know.
-Attack types -AntiVeryLight chance to hit bombers decreased from 85% to 75%. -AntiVeryLight damage vs Light armor decreased from 100% to 75%.
You're right. I see that now.
But Advent was already a force to be reckoned with...
maybe, but now there is absolutely no reason for anyone to complain about Advent.
the illuminator change really don't have much of an impact.
You're out of your mind. As TEC, I had to build Kodiak Heavy Cruisers to counter my opponent's Illuminator spam. That wasn't the case before, especially now that the Illuminator is an antimedium ship.

Alright, alright. I know SD/IC will continue to enhance the game with more patches, but I just want to say if they never made another patch then the game would be just perfect. A few people will always complain no matter what. Even if the game was perfect they would still complain. They could make 1000 patches and still some people will want more more more..... The game is awesome. Thanks StarDock/IronClad!
