i'd like to clarify that someone who is 'good' at lrm rushing isn't necissarily good at the game, they just know how to micro and understand what ships to avoid and what order of ships to focus fire on... all of this knowledge can be gained from a 'trial and error' processi'd like to see mass LRMs (with a few cap ships of course) stand up against an advent fleet with 10 guardians, 15 subjucators, 40 aeria drone hosts, a dozen desciples, and a few cap ships
You kind of mis
40 Flak frigs(which cost less) than 40 LRMS will kill the lrms with just less than half a dozen ships if you micro them.
If I have LRMs and you have flak, I will ignore your flak and kill your cap, then fly around and kill your other structures, meanwhile pumping out more ships. Flak doesn't kill lrms nearly as quickly as you think. You keep going on about flaks having 5 dps against light frigs. That's only if all arcs are firing. Unless your opponent surrounds your f
You haven't played enough if you think flaks are only good against lrms and fighters.Even against light frigs, which counter them they do alright. Why? Because for almost the same cost they have double the hp/shields/armor and quadrupple the DPS.Comparing armor and damage types alone isn't enough. All the units don't cost 400/50/25 with 1k hull, 500 shields, and 5 dps.Killing lrms with flak doesn't leave you with unnessisary useless ships afterwards. It leaves you with ships that are a bit

I don't feel it really adds confusion, I target by highlighting over the side panel and seeing which units highlight to tell if there near my ships so I don't have to run to shoot at them. I never target seekers. They don't really hurt.

Don't forget that martyrdom is subject to shield mitigation. It ends up dealing very very little damage. I literally threw 15-20 seekers into a lvl 3 cap ship and it survived with well 50% hp.

LOL As much as you're trying to show your superiority by flat out saying the most imbalanced tech "sucks", you cannot be any more wrong on some of your points. Clearly you have been playing with/against noobs and haven't seen how devastating a properly executed RA rush can be, even on single star maps. This is doubly true when your opponents need to beat through your teammates before they can get to you. The Vasari ultimate tech is indeed Dark Armada. Once someone gets it go

That was me, Jinx, you played against. I saved the replay if anyone's interested (and can point me to where to upload it) If you watch the replay, right when you took the ice world, if you had continued your assault while blue was busy with pirates, you may have won the game since I was saving and teching for cap ships. Also, I don't think that I got the cap ships that quickly, it just felt so quick to you guys because you went econ first whereas I went cap ship -> military O

Yes, RA is completely imbalanced at the moment. I'm enjoying abusing it though. Currently I can get RA resarched about 30 minutes into a game and a fleet of over 1000 by the one hour mark. This is without help from other people. However, teching hard like this means I'm absolutely undefended during this time. It's quite a gamble. In roughly 1.5 hours, I have about 2000-2300 fleet. Once I get this, I really start researching ship upgrades, but it's usually GG by then, as the opp
What do you think of EA? They seem to release a lot of buggy games due to tight and non-negotiable release schedules, and treat their employees like crap, or so I have read.Edit: that was addressed to "Shadowofadoubt"
It depends on what team you're on. The people I work with are all quite nice. I sometimes get work that results in long hours, but the game industry is simply like that... although because EA is so strict with deadlines, I suppose it's slightly worse.

I'm not really against playing clans. I mean, they could simply remove the clan tag and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Besides, most of the clans I've seen are just friends in real life so their clan tag honestly means nothing. If they kick you butt, don't you think it may simply be a case of them being better than you and/or your team mates? The game's really slow paced so the advantage of talking over typing becomes greatly lessened. Also, if your team is noobish, te

yep, universe at war was created by former westwood employees. I'm not quite sure why Astax thinks it's so bad though. Each race plays completely and different from each other - A LOT more different than even Starcraft. If anything, Petroglyph Studios should be given huge kudos for attempting that (and the nightmarish balance issues than ensue). One race essentially comprises of a couple mobile bases which are uber strong and raze everything. You upgrade these as you get resources.

haven't tried the sova carrier's embargo ability, but otherwise, this build order is exactly the same as mine. I've also found it to be the fastest and most effective
Regardless, it shouldn't take concentrated micro to beat someone who just hammers down shift-click on the Illuminator. The fact that each player should have to put in equal strategy to win is a basic tenet of every game.
That's the thing, it doesn't take concentrated effort to stop lrm spam. You need to scout them. I don't think you can deny the tactical reasons for scouting. No matter what your excuses may be, the fact that you didn't scout means you didn't have tacti

Uh oh, someone's being a big meanie to you on the internet! Being rude != trolling. Put that knee-jerking defensive attitude away and accept that you simply didn't play well that game and used no tactics at all. I suppose since you had an empire to run, you couldn't bother to send in your units at once nor go through the incredibly hard process of clicking them and moving them to better tactical positions. I hear you man, building those trade centers sure requires a lot of concentrat
Here, we not only have to have similar amounts of units to counter single-unit spam, but nobody can agree on WHAT UNIT TO USE. Which makes me, as I stated before, very hesitant about thinking that anyone has any idea what they're talking about.
It sounds like you aren't even trying what people are suggesting and instead just pouting about your loss. It was mentioned several times and if you seriously tried it, you'd see that it works. Flak ships and/or fighers - not bom

Even on MP, I find that if you manage to send the first 1 or 2 pirates to the enemy, it gives you an enormous advantage, especially if the pirate fleet is large. The reason is that it basically forces the enemy to stop expanding during that time and allows you to take more planets. In addition to that, if they have multiple planets, you can attack one that the pirates are not attacking and run away as soon as he sends his fleet over (leaving their other planet at the pirate's mercy). You may

I think all production in that gravity well should just drop to 0 and everything essentially should go offline. I don't think they should suddenly lose ownership of it though.
