PC games aren't dying at all. There's a paradigm shift in PC games, however. More than ever, PC games are being purchased as digital content. Retail sales figures generally don't account for this. Not only that, but subscription based revenue also makes up a huge chunk of the pie (consider WOW and other MMOs). "Hardcore games" aside, another extremely profitable venture are the more casual oriented games. They're incredibly accessible, run on most specs (due to the casual games gen
I remember one of the Stardock crew was kind enough to point out that Sins was a bit like Total Annihilation but in space. Now I'm probably going to buy it anyway because its a Stardock title. But whats the deal here?Is it like Warcraft 3 or something, except with bigger Hero's?P.S I hated Warcraft 3, Warcraft 2 was a classic. But with W2 you created units and sent them to battle, you focused on the strategic situation. How the war as a whole played out rather than individual units. But

Can't say I'm surprised (if) Drex and Cykur have left. I mean, we were basically inactive for what... 4 months? That said, I'm hoping if we become active again, they'll rejoin. But in the end, it's all just a game :) I am most likely very bad at Sins now, as the last time I played was one of our clan matches.

I've posted this "exploit" in several threads before this one (one thread was on people complaining about other ppl leaving games - I posted that if they wanted to pad their record with wins they 'ought' to have, they can just do this) However, I hardly feel that this is an exploit. It's a design bug, yes, but it doesn't break the game and thus not an exploit. All it does is decrease what would take 5 minutes to 1 minute (remember, you still have to load and go through all the front e

@Ke5trl Advent is the best scout rushing race because their scouts are the cheapest (matched with TEC) and the most durable. You actually only need 4 scouts, 6 if they're turtling. 6 scouts can easily kill the constructurs EVEN if they have 2 turrets and 2-4 disciples. Scout rushing is also possible against Vasari. If you immediately build 4 scouts and them hit them ASAP (provided you're no more than 3-4 jumps away), there's still a somewhat good chance that they hadn't buil
Ke5trel, I understand if this wouldn't make it onto the post, but I have one strat in mind. I made a post a while ago where I said rushing TEC bomb ability is great and can work. I've changed it a lot since then. What I've come up with is a strat that will work for all races, but works best with Advent.Follow the standard opening (Up home, cap factory, mines, scouts, yadda yadda yadda)Instead I buy only 100 crystal and sell 300 metal (200 if Vasari). I get the cap colonizer and I'm techin

Yup, end game, they can have 30+ dps thanks to the carrier's field. without cap ship support, and excluding their dps aura, they still get high 20's dps.
Damn Jinx where have you been? LOL
Haven't played Sins in a month.. with the scout cheese, guardian cheese, and subverter cheese strategies, the game isn't quite as fun as it was before :(

RA hasn't really been nerfed. It's still just as overpowered as it was before. People are complaining about Advent because they now have quite easily the strongest long range unit in the game. RA is especially OP in 2v2 or 3v3 games where one guy tech rushes to RA and the other players feed him cash. With this strategy, I managed to get RA up in 15 minutes - about the amount of time they took to get a couple heavy cruisers/small fleet of illums. Yeah we won.

A couple points Kol - Gauss is a very good skill and not a waste of antimatter. Don't leave on autocast and always shoot enemies that haven't been targeted yet. Burst damage is should only be used when the enemy shield mitigation hasn't gone up yet. With finest hour, the skill becomes highly spammable and you should basically just be gaussing all their non-damaged ships Akkan - ION bolt is a very good skill and definately not a waste of antimatter. It not only useful for ch

My goodness, this game is SO incredibly fun, I can't stop smiling while I'm playing it. It's just so satisfying to throw stuff and watch ensuing chaos. Games like these are why I purchased a Wii. It's nice that these kind of games are finally coming out. Anyone else picked up this game yet?

counter intel is important, but hangers are expensive. The time when intel is most critical is at the beginning - a point where your funds shouldn't be going to hangar defense to stop scouts. Also, scouts are so fast, unless you have a lot of hangar D, they'll easily still slip by your defenses, only getting moderately damaged. Even worse, if they just scout between your two main worlds, bouncing back and fourth between the grav wells, your strikecraft will probably not even reach the

I'd advise staying away from carriers. However, hangar defense honestly isn't too bad. The thing with hangar defense is that you still need to scout to know what strikecraft to build. Remember that you can scuttle strikecraft, allowing you to build some of the other type. In general, people attack with fleets consisting of mainly HC's or LRM's as their DPS. Against lrms, have fighters. Against HC's, have bombers. Keep scouts out to know what your enemy is attacking you with. If t

2 eliminates it for all planets. The negative income is removed immediately after the 2nd pop upgrade. However, if you just upgrade once, planets will eventually grow out to be zero. IMO, it's better to just upgrade twice though.
Highlight your planet and it will say tax income and it will be red until you upgrade it enough to actually make you money.
The question was if he can tell how much it'll drain BEFORE he colonizes. I haven't played in a while, but I'm quite certain you can't. You just need to memorize it. It's something like 2.0 credits a second. After you've colonized, a better method of finding out what planets may be draining your eco is be to hover over your credit

Do you really need to ask what my point it? I thought you'd have been intelligent enough to see that I was basically posting that in support of your argument that Crysis isn't doing as well as the people on this board are exclaiming. I posted the link to show that Crytek is complaining about their sales. Yes, they're blaming piracy, and to be honest, they're probably partially correct. However, the main conclusion that you can draw from that article is that Crytek is saying "We didn'

Yes... it was quite intentional, I'm sure. Damage isn't as difficult to balance as skills that do miscellaneous effects such as AOE stuns (subverter) or pushing your ships around (guardian)

when you're being repulsed, your fleet splits. When repulsing, it's very easy to repulse just after the illums fire a shot. In fact, you can just drive your illum/guardian blob around and spam repulse while doing it. As you do this, your illums will get off a number of shots then the enemy ships will go flying. If the Advent player is any good, he'll have multiple guardians and 2 illum blobs also with guardians (how I play repulse spam). The two illum blobs will bounce ships back and fourth

Don't be silly - that's where micro and forethought come in. When your caps get pushed around, you've essentially lost control of them. Even if being naked/exposed, it will still give you more options. Obviously, if they enemy has 30 illums and 4 guardians, it wouldn't be very smart to have your cap anywhere near that blob. If repulsion didn't affect caps, that obviously would change the way I throw my caps into the fight, wouldn't it? Furthermore, as it is currently, a player with

when you click malice on something, ships around your target also get hit by it. After that, everything that's malice'd will take a % of the damage that any other ship that's also maliced receives. The targets still take full damage if they're actually being hit and the malice damage is added on top of that. ruthlessness is a passive that deals constant dps to everythign near the ship. It doesn't require antimatter and it's just always on. I believe it also works with malice, but I'
