most of the 9800gt's are doubleslot . for power supply capacity I would suggest atleast 750w for SLI for single card 600-650w the singleslot cards that I have seen are the 7,8,9600gt and lower but all mbs available give a 2 slot width for the 16x pciex slots even the sli & trisli boards harpo

I use sensorview 3 on my machines except for w7 & vs***a with geforce cards, which has an ability to set a correction factor to the temerature readings, but I have found it fairly accurate harpo
galaxy forge 1.1 and 1.05 for sins 1.02-1.05 is no longer available on the sins site. I have not done a google for them, but the file names and sizes are GalaxyForge_v101.zip size 3088kb and GalaxyForge_v105.zip 2917kb with GalaxyForge1.1.rar being 2402kb hope you find them. if you can't I could email them to you as I have downloaded them as I found them harpo

have you tried explorer into the documents & settings folder with hide folders unticked? if there is no sign of the old user names then they did a format install, but if the old user names are there then the documents should be under the old my documents, and they did a delete install harpo

I would suggest a higher power psu as 520 watt would be running at 95-100% of total power available ie each video card 140w,cpu 50-100w,mb 50-100w,hdd 10-30w each dvd 10-30w each, and I believe that the psu's degrade about 30% in the first year due to the heat being dissapated in the psu ie between 10-50% of the power rating EXTRA power to supply the output due to the power factors in psu's at high percentage of max power output
the fleet supply issue i also have noticed, but it only happens while ships are queued so I just ignore it & think it is a minor glitch in this excelent game harpo
the beta is STILL on and the release of the final is currently sheduled for the 25th of feb, so there is no patches available at present to change the beta 2.5 entrenchment to a release entrenchment, but I hope to get it on the 25th of feb harpo
it is already known as a bug in beta2.5 where the phase stalizer is not given any am, but needs am, the workaround is to add the shield upgrade as well as the shield and one other upgrade each get am. hopefully it will be fixed in beta3 or final harpo
the settings will carry over between the versions, BUT the MODS are NOT compatible so should be loaded each time you start sins in the options/mods & DO NOT click on the tickbox to load the mod on startup of sins (ie make sure that the loadmod on startup is EMPTY. harpo

I have done a similar trick on one of my computers. first install sins and update it to the version you want. then copy the sins of solar empires directory to a new name eg sins 1.13 create a shortcut from the sins of a solar empire exe in the new folder to the desktop and rename it so you know which one is when you want to run it finally download & install te entrenchment beta. <p
the startrek mod is still alpha without specialized research. normally the inter star jumping is research the distant visualiation/long jumps at 3-4 civ research labs then click on the star you want to go to and the ships then jump to them. this applies to sins all versions, and as far as I know to all sins mods. harpo

to test the card for overheating try the 3dmark benchmarks like 3dmark06 an 3dmark vantage from www.futuremark.com if the card locks up when running either of the 3dmarks then the card is FAULTY. the PALIT cards have a better fan/heatsink design, so the supplier might be willing to exchane toward the palit 4870 card harpo
I would suggest talking it over with the card supplier and hinting that it might be a maufacture fault involving the RAM on the card harpo
have you changed the video drivers, or changed the video card? in my computers on geforce 7+ cards I am using 181.22 with no problems,on my ati computers I am using catalyst 9.1 also no problems. also you could try updating the video card drivers to the version that I am using. harpo
