mystic angel my gui looks to the PATH to determine which convertdata to use eg it the path contains entrenchment it uses the convertdata_entrenchment , bit if it does NOT contain 'entrenchment' or 'diplomacy' or 'third expansion' it uses the convertdata+originalsins*.exe it also looks for a version number in the type folder it then uses the correct version eg entrenchment 1.01 or entrenchment 1.02 or entrenchment 1.03 or originalsins 1.15,1.16 or 1.17 to do the conversions I have also

we are down to the desperation ideas, ie re-install dotnet to 3.5, un-install sins & re-install sins. my next recommendation is the dotnet install from windowsupdate harpo
what other software was installed between when it ran and now? can the software be disabled? have you done a virus scan/rootkit scan? getting as puzzled as you are harpo
does any other program give problems? if not then try verifying the sins/entrenchment installation if yes then it could be ram causeing the problem, shut down the computer, remove & re-install ram, if problem persists the test ram with a ramtest program(could be a faulty ram stick), also might be an oxidized connector so unplug and re-plug all the connectors to hdd's. hope this helps harpo
does it crash on particular maps? if so which maps? harpo
does the path to the files you want to convert contain the sins version and expansion, eg sins 1.17/mods 1.17 or entrenchment 1.03 as examples? my utilities (both the mod updater AND the txt bin gui use the path to the file to determine the convertdata to use. the version 1.1 modding utilities does contain the convertdatas for sins 1.15,1.16 & 1.17 and entrenchment 1.01,1.02,1.03 and the utilities are altered to look in their directory to find & use the convertdata
eadtaes, i think it is 0.4 units AM per second restored harpo
you could edit the 'targetsinsver.txt' file to 1.1.7.0 harpo
The Map format/structure has not changed from 1.15/entrenchment 1.01, AND I wrote all the versions of the map updater, if you want the latest version of it look at this thread harpo
the string names ARE EXACT CASE ONLY in BOTH the entity AND the string, so a single letter in a DiffErenT Case is a different string the two abilities/buffs appear to not be used in any frigate/capital in entrenchment or sins, so they could be added to a frigate to test them harpo
first you log in to ironclad, THEN YOU MUST have a player name so in this case create a player name by clicking on 'Add Player' and type in a name for you to use in game/lobby. harpo
trooperscooper7 you should add the new entity files to THE MOD's entity.manifest in the root directory of the mod, or you could use my manifest maker utility from this thread hope this helps harpo
dsjack has the correct location, bit the filename for the english file is 'english.str'. you also have to add the number of strings you have added to the count at the TOP of the file otherwise you will get the dreaded "STRING NOT FOUND" error ingame harpo
qrbrrbl, for vanilla sins you only need to add the entity's to the mod's gameinfo folder, for entrenchment you also NEED to ADD the added entity files to the entity.manifest. you can check out my manifest maker thread here harpo
for galaxy forge 3 you NEED dotnet 3.5, but it does not require a particular location to work. for particle forge & the forge tools I have read that they NEED to be in the sins program folder. hope this helps harpo
fediken I do not know about replays but here is the advice for maps first you will want/need a either or both winrar and 7zip to extract files then download and install galaxy forge from the sins download page assuming you have sins 1.17/entrenchment 1.03, the galaxy forge maps NEED to be placed here for xp C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge or here for vista/windows 7
trooperscooper7, I have looked at the txted capitals and there is no entry for number of capital crews, so it appears to be in the engine, the only value that I fould relates to fleet supply. sorry harpo
mooster, I only metion my utilities when I think that they will help people harpo
Zanyth0x42, sorry but I have not found any method other than the date of the convertdata, nor have I found a method of determining the version used to convert the entity's et al, which is why I added the version number to the file name of the convertdata's in my modding tools pack. harpo
rakerake the CORRECT PATH IS assuming you have sins 1.17/entrenchment 1.03, the galaxy forge maps NEED to be placed here for xp C:\Documents and Settings\'user name' \Local Settings\Application Data\ Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\ or here for vista/windows 7 C:\Users\'user name'\ AppData\Local \Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\ NOTE the first two folders after the '
the first txt SHOULD be entity and the file extension NEEDS to be .entity especially when converting to bin for use in game, but sins & entrenchment can work with TXT mode entity files. the commandline should read conversion_program Filetype(eg.entity) file_namesource file_namedestination conversion_type eg convertdata_entrenchment.exe entity c:\CAPITALSHIP_IMP_ISD0.entity c:\CAPITALSHIP_IMP_ISD0.entity TXT or convertdata_entrenchment.exe entity c:\CAPIT
I actually wrote it to help me mod entrenchment, and not liking the idea of typo's and wrong case for the commands Idecided to write a utility do do all the fiddle work for me. but I decided to write it to suit people other than myself and release it so that others that hit a similar porblems would be able to have a quick fix to the problem and also encorage more modders into the community harpo
highguard, assuming you have sins 1.16+/entrenchment 1.02+, the galaxy forge maps NEED to be placed here for xp C:\Documents and Settings\'user name'\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge or here for vista/windows 7 C:\Users\'user name'\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\GalaxyForge. NOTE the first two folders after the 'user name' are hidden , so to see them you must first click on 'too
in the commandline that did the convert to txt change the TXT to BIN, OR use one of the txt bin gui's like mine from this thread harpo
just managed to upload to filefront FINALLY harpo
