I never get bombers with my Skiranta since it gets the scramble bombers ability anyway. I think fighters are more important early game.

I think the evacuator is deffinately a good starting ship, because with the quick expansion it allows, you could easily build a strong economy and either go down the warfare tree or decide to rush to Dark Armada. The only thing is, if you do decide to do the latter with the evacuator, it leaves you a little bit crippled military wise, where as the carrier is an excellent support ship for your fleet in every stage of the game because of its multiple strike craft and its repair cloud. Also, there
I think my favorite 2 vasari cap ships are the Skinatra carrier and the Evacuator in that order. Carrier: I am a big fan of the carrier for a starting ship for a few reasons. 1. Their strike craft make it easier to fend off against LRM spam strategy (which so many people seem to do these days) their healing cloud is an amazing ability that almost always gives you the edge in a fight, and their replicate forces technique is just an amazing and convenient. I will usually bui
So i've been playing around with the vasari cap ships lately trying to figure out which ones are the best for which strategies. Obviously, they are all good in their own ways, and each one seems to be geared towards a different style of play. What is your favorite cap, and for what reason? What strategy do you use with this cap? What is your build order, is it your first cap ship or do you build it when you have more funds? What ships do you pair it with?
I found it on another forum, but it seems to be accurrate. However, I have found what might be a bug in the game (or intended) in that my trade port chains tend to cap out at 4, I don't know if this is supposed to happen or not. (Trade ports will report their longest chain when you scroll over that planet). I believe refineries effecting planets also report back info in this way. If not, it will be under your economic tab ingame.
Tradeport and refinery rundown in this thread. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=404&aid=302315
Trade port income is based on your longest line of connected planets with tradeports. The longer you chain of tradeports is, the greater your income will be from each individual tradeport. x - planet with a trade port o - planet with nothing o-x-x-x-x-o This means your longest chain is 4, so each tradeport will generate that much cashflow according to that multiplyer. If you place 2 on one planet, it give the same amount of cash flow that your other tradeport on th
Addendum. I've tried hosting a game without going through my router, and connecting directly through my cable modem. We still had the same problem so it can't be router related. Any idea what would be causing this bug?
Also let it be said, the problem to my knowledge (being said friend) is specific only to sir tex. I've never had this problem with anyone else I host games for. In fact, in a game with multiple players, tex will be the only one to drop, and then the game will progress normally with all of the other players.
Someone gave me some good advice in an earlier thread like this. I was having the same issue where I was not hosting through a router and all of my anti-virus firewall software was turned off, disabled, or configured properly. I was able to fix it by downloading a program called CCleaner and giving my drive a through cleaning. As it turned out, I still had some old symantec (norton) network drivers installed on my computer from when I had had nortan installed a few years back. CCleaner
success! I loaded on CCleaner and found some old Symantec network drivers still installed from when I used to have norton a few years back. I uninstalled them and it started working. Thanks for the suggestion Lipfert.
Important question. What maps do you play when you guys do the above strategy? Large maps?
I think the largest map I have played was a 37 planet game, so medium, and it was vs AI not versus a human opponent, though I don't imagine my strategy would be much different vs a human opponent, especially since using this the AI didn't pose any threat whatsoever, and i had so many resources i ended up building 2 of the interplanetary superweapon cannons and would randomly fire at
Oh and I'd say that tactic is more of a "chain" than a "leapfrog" - since he's not bypassing anything but going in sequence?Well ya he is chaining his commune towers. but he means leapfrogging as in when a planet goes neutral he jumps to it and repeats the process.
That's still not leapfrog, that is an example of a chain reaction or a chain. Leapfrog... would mean he jumps over the planet and attacks the next one? Bad analogies aside, its still not really a strategy so mu
You realize you are alking about various high level techs and high level capitals to counter something merely costing 4 pop points and eaisly spammed from the beginning of the game, right?Sure once i get the tech up to speed, not much is a threat to the vasari, but early game they are ridiculously vulnerable, as they are outnumbered, and outgunned as i just said.1.5 times the number of ships you have, even if all of them are weaker than yours, they still have a lot more firepower / overal
In an FFA with unlocked teams, can you have shared victory or can only one person win the game?
I didn't get a chance to try yet, I didn't see the post until this morning at work. It will be another, 9 hours before I get a chance to get home and actually start fiddling with it.
T
Bottom line: Tactically, bounty can influence my targetting decisions, if it's sufficiently lucrative and relevant to my present situation. Strategically, it has no influence on who I will attack. If I attack somebody because he has a high bounty, it will be because I want to hit him while the pirates are hitting him, not because of his bounty, and I would do the same thing if another human player were hitting him even if he had no bounty.
^This Primarily, I thi
in the last game the other guy refused to quit after his partner got destroyed, and set his captial ship to phase around the universe, just to troll us on a useless hunt when we already had every planet in the game. This reminds of me the infamous game sore losers would play in StarCraft called "Hide the depot."
I loved playing hide the depot.
While I can stand the frustraion of the OP, and I think I would be pretty pissed off too if my enemy left when the going got bad, I have to sympathize with the so called "noobs" as well. Honestly, this game takes far too long to complete if its going to be one sided throughout the entire game. 4 hours is a long time to sit and stare at your computer screen frustrated as you realize you've had no chance to win since you made that first mistake at the beginning of the game where you didn't reserve
I start each round by building 2-4 skirmishers with my capital. I always start out with the Evacuator capital because of its colonization ability is really convenient right off the back, and late game it's Drain Planet is amazing. Use that small fleet to take any surrounding asteroid-type planets. Build 1 weapons lab to unlock Assailants and add 2 to your small fleet and that should be all you need to take a few planets. Since assailants are available first tier, its deffinately very worth it to
Well last night, my friend came over with his laptop, and with the router properly configured, he was able to host a game via my network. So it has been confirmed that the problem has to lie with my computer. Its a pretty old computer, and its been heavily used in its lifetime. It's had multiple different anti-virus protection programs, including both mcafee and norton. Both of those are removed as of now and I am currently running Avast. It's had multiple different anti spyware programs includi
Yes, its a static local IP and it is configured correctly. Port forwarding aside though, why would it not even work when I bypass the router altogether? Doesn't that denote that there is something on my computer blocking my ports?
Yes, I am sure that my modem is just a modem. My previous modem was was DSL modem/router combo (2wire 2701) but I recently switched from DSL to cable. The cable modem is only a modem (Motorola SB5120) and not a modem/router combo, so I had to buy a seperate router (linksys WRT54G). Also, I have forwarded tcp 6000-6112, there is still no change. I disabled UPnP on the router itself, and deactived anything pertaining to the router firewall. I still can't host. I have even tried bypassing
...2 of the guides say TO use UPnP. In fact... it says it in the multiplayer checklist, to use both UPnP and forward port 6112. Monk's guide says to disable it on the router. It doesn't say anything about not running it on your hosting computer.
I'm confused though, if you have UPnP and SSDP set to automatic, and you try to connect directly through your modem (as opposed to through a rotuer) what would reasons be for it not working? When I tried hosting with no router, I would actually time out and get disconnected from game server.
