Heavy cruisers are your best bet end game. Use them with support cruisers and caps, maybe some light frigates for their nice abilities when upgraded, and some flak if you're really worried about strike craft. You're set. Bombers doing extra damage to heavy doesn't mean much because a carrier is less cost efficient to a heavy cruiser, even when using bombers against things they are strong against, and fighters against things they are strong against. They have an awesome base damage of

Well the way it works in my head, phase missles are worse than a regular damage upgrade. Heres my logic and calculations, could be wrong. Lets say something(A) deals 10 damage. A fully upgraded (A) deals +30% more damage, thats 13 damage. Compare this to something (B) that has 25% phase capabilities and the base of 10 damage. So I'm going to assume the target is at full mitigation (60%) for these. Against 60% mitigation, (A) does 7.8 damage when fully upgrad

You don't want to be able to fly without phase lanes. One time I had a Subverter with the intercept ability chase down an enemy ship that just jumped through a phase lane. He followed the damn thing halfway through the lane. When he stopped he was in between the planets, but not in the lane. It was moving at the speed he would be in a grav well. Guess how long it took him to get back, half a distance from a planet to another planet? ONE HOUR!
I've played a couple of games where the Vasari player rushes directly to RA and researches no military techs. I've seen players have RA up and running by 30 minutes into the game. If you scout him and see him doing it, and you're TEC, you can bull rush and stand a good chance of pounding him early, but if you make even a small mistake and don't stop him cold, game is over.
You don't have to go straight for RA. It's not like if you want insurgency you have to start workin

The first tech for that improves "scuttling." You can already scuttle ships by clicking on them, then clicking on a little yellow and black bar underneath their portrait. You can scuttle pretty much everything in the game, it takes about 60 seconds, and you get back a small % of the resources used to build it. The first tech just decreases the time to scuttle, and increases the amount you get back. A little better than you might think. It lets you move around your frigate fa

It does seem like those 2 abilities could be overpowered. I won my 1v9 hard AI pretty much by this combination alone. I'd be outnumbered literally like 10 to 1 and I'd take out over half the enemy fleet by malice and brilliance. I had about 3 groups of Radiances and Motherships that could do this too. I know people are gonna say, well thats vs. computer, but I don't see how that could be that avoidable in a big fight online either. But I haven't seen it used properly online yet so I
the healing aura doesnt stack, next time actually use the appropriate counter to light frigates.
He said "staggering" not stacking. And he's right, focus fire when the ship count gets so high means most of the skills are useless. A KOL rail gun shot is just like 0.5 seconds of focus fire later on. The repair rates of anything, repair bays included, don't mean much either when they drop in a second or two. As to the topic, most of those tests were really

Oh I misread, I thought chances to hit ALL strike craft got reduce not just bombers. I have less faith in this patch now :(

Good changes, I agree a little with Innociv that LRM's shouldn't be so versatile, and the speed decrease is probably just going to be annoying, but think about it. One thing I must say before I go on to things I like: Flak now do even less damage to fighters, bombers, and long range frigates. Advent flaks have higher cost. I'm afraid there might be no incentive to buy them now, but I'll see. However, with the speed decrease in long range frigates means that they can't chase c

To his defense, that comment IS in response to yours. And I agree all this bashing of Kreulgor needs to stop. Yes he was wrong about the Disciple vs. LRM thing but he manned up and admitted it, and it's come to the point where people are trolling each and every one of his posts. After that he has done nothing wrong, , if he wants to talk about frigate factories on a forum where you talk about the game then let him.

I've been testing it out and it seems to work sometimes but not others. I haven't been paying attention to the level of the skill but I tried it on some enemy siege frigates and a capital ship that were bombing my planet. I parked my ship next to em, made sure they were in range, and used animosity. They kept bombing my planet... A few occasions when fighting the neutral ships they went for my radiance when I used the skill, it didn't work often, and the times it did, less than half of the s

I know of a few people who have already played in tournaments for this game. How big or official these are, I don't know, but they won money. And my 1v1 games don't last very long because the game can be decided in a few battles. On larger maps, even if you lose a few battles or planets theres allies to help or many other planets to pull from.

Yeah I would say there is a good balance. I'm kind of both types of players in one, where I like to have tough player vs. player battles, but I also like to play huge games against computers that I can save and load up again when I have the time.
Tech capital ships are far superior to Vasari capital ships because there abilities work so well together when you have multiple capital ships together...
Just because you like/know how to use TEC capital ships more than Vasari's doesn't mean that they are any worse. In my opinion Vasari's colonizer is the best colonizer out there. Their battleship is equal to any other races... I don't see why you think their cap ships are any worse, just because they don't have auras?

Carbon has it, just want to say that the planet's income is multiplied by the allegiance %. 10 credits/second income on a 90% allegiance planet will only yeild 9 credits/second. 0% means it becomes neutral, you can raise the max allegiance by 10% with the use of culture spreaders, and you can only have one capital planet at a time... It switched the current one to the one that just got the upgrade, redoing the max allegiance based on how far they are from the new capital planet, although multi

Reply to Subverters in Strategy

The only time I've played against someone who used subverters, I had scouted before hand and got a decent size group of light frigates... The enemy wasn't very smart and had the skills on auto-cast so I sent in my light frigates one by one before the rest of the fleet, so they went *fwip* and disabled 1 light frigate. I had plenty of others around too to mop up the rest of the ships. He was stupid, but in the right hands I can see this skill being overpowered. 8-10 ships disabled stil

I like the battleship, it reminds me of a giant robot fish, like in those darius games. Anyway very cool, keep us posted and I will definitely consider trying it all out when it's done.

phase gates are a vasari only tactical building that lets them jump from one gate to another, so you can jump from a planet with a gate to another planet with a gate no matter how far away it is. The gates are also used with the returning armada research, in that the ships you get from returning armada come in through the gates. Anyway yeah, it happened again to me. I was TEC in a 3v3, and it was a pretty even game until I ended up getting a huge mass of kodiaks and random other stuff
I, personally, would not even start a demo if there wouldn't be something of reward for finishing in it
I don't agree, demos should just give you an idea of how the game works, I have not played a demo that ever let me accomplish anything, and I kind of prefer it that way. and if you're going to complain about a demo, complain about the heavenly sword demo lol.
People here are not getting it: IT'S NOT ABOUT FINISHING A MAP IN 90 MIN!! It's about the PERCEPTION that you can finish it. The goal of this demo: Create desire to buy this game. Most people, especially strategy gamers, will not start a (demo) game AT ALL if they know upfront that they will be kicked out at some arbitrary point, loosing all there build-up efforts without knowing upfront if they have the time to put them into play. So, if people will not start the demo in

Yeah RA is definitely overpowered. I was in an 8 player FFA like the dude above me and it ended up being a 3v1, I was the 1. I took out an enemy right away and grabbed his planets to the point where I had about 10 planets. I didn't initially go for RA but when I had the economy to do so without too much strain I did. I had plenty of stabilizers and fleet cap maxed out, with the fleet cap research. It came time for the 3 players to attack me, as everyone else was dead and they had all those
