thanks for the link. Good to know it is being looked at, I feel at peace.

was hoping for a response in my thread, but as long as it is being looked at I'm happy
link? can't seem to find it, only things refering to it. thanks
As far as I am aware, placing money can have nothing to do with pirates...players can make money off slaughtering each otehr too. This may not be a bug at all...
true, but I have had the AI put bounty on my head when pirates were inactive and it was down to 1v1. They get it back i suppose when they attack... still makes little sense.
Is there a chance your comp is just overheating under high load? Have you run a stress test? You could try opening up the case and pointing an extra fan in there to see if it helps. You never know, sometimes obvious things like this cause problems. I recently had a computer freezing up under load and it turned out my GPU fan had completely broken and stopped spinning due to being too dusty.
just played around for 2 hours and CPU temp is at 42C and GPU is at 72C, pret
wow, very very cool. as always great work and many thanks.
I just want to get this game playable
yeah me too, there are many posts currently floating around regarding performance issues. Still waiting to here on the matter. here is my thread and another I have been following, https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/307931 https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/308209 KP
But kjpwv, haven't you read the responses on my /General/Clogged Furball thread? It has been loudly stated that the problem is not the game but your lack of a computer that is lightyears beyond the recommended specs. He he. You need a computer with more acronyms!
i read some of that, funny what people get all worked up over. While my machine is not a monster, it is a beast :)
i'd have to think that the 'fix' would be to back off some of the AI routine
I have more or less the same issue goin on with a big advent vs advent fight. Got a thread over in the technical forums with a save game link if anyone wants to check it out. there is definatly some sort of computation going on that is breaking the bank. From what I have seen from the Advent it is the AoE damage from Malice. The entire issue may be that the AI is now smart enough to use its AoE abilities correctly. KP
edited my op with a link to the save game, trust me I'm gonna keep making noise about it until its fixed. KP
at the very least i managed to beat the map... or at least I think I did, the final battle at the AI home planet might finish by next month sometime. entertaining to divide up and just run around attacking like crazy, a fun diversion of my normal methods. but yeah, devs please look into and correct
very true, next i decided to try and avoid the malice all together but that just had me running in circles around the well, and every time it did manage to hit me it would freeze the game for a while. here is how i finally avoided the conflict all together... Took my one fleet and divided it into 3 bugged out in all directions, scuttling everything the AI suddenly notices i have a fleet pushing its terrirory AI takes entire massive fleet (leaving 5 purges) through the
messed around with it a bit more and it has to be Malice. I turned off my Malice autocast and the fight lasted until the AI used it. Talk about devestating both to my fleet and my CPU. Every one of my ships went red and the game stopped, it jumps ahead occasionally as i watch my fleet fall apart without bewing able to do anything. at this point i should just retreat in 3 different directions and hope the AI splits its fleet. KP
I tried out the save. It was choppy and froze for a few seconds near the start of the fight, but gradually got better as ships were destroyed. I was able to micromanage stuff using the empire side bar, and ended up killing several enemy cap ships and the majority of the attacking fleet before they bugged out. I lost all defending frigates and a single cap ship, and was able to apply numerous cap ship upgrades during the fight.
Sounds aboout right, with my other fleet I ha
as it seems now, no processor exists that can handle a large advent vs advent battle. but i digress, the 8500 is a few generations behind, i'd look at the newer 9600. for that matter the low end 8800s are coming down in price. The Vid card is so hella important these days, just make sure you do all your homework before purchasing. KP
http://files.filefront.com/here+they+comesave/;9996051;/fileinfo.html my save game from the thread I created, try it out and if you can get the fight to run smoothly please tell me how. KP
good to know its not just me, should have posted the save game first, would have made life a lot easier :) Thats what happens when you make a post first thing in the morning after staying up all night ripping your computer apart trying to make it play a little space battle properly, you get cranky. I've had plenty of huge battles that caused issues, but this was the first to just bring my system to a screeching hault. Winning a 3 star large map had to have taken more juice than that b
i think the problem is the two Advent fleets, the same thing happened to me. My guess is that its the AoE calculations of the Guardians and Subjugators that are causing the massive slowdown, even with all graphics turned down to low. just so you know, after quitting the game a few times in frustration, i ended up letting it sit for half an hour (at a frame every couple minutes). once a minute of game time (over that half hour) had passed and 1/3 of the ships died, the game continued witho
http://files.filefront.com/here+they+comesave/;9996051;/fileinfo.html here is the save game file. just a medium random map w/ no mods. Me and the AI just finished eliminating the other 2 AI and then it broke the ceasefire, sending everything at me before I had time to do anything much other than toss up a bunch of repair platforms. At the point of the save 1/2 of the AI fleet fleet is at the asteroid and the other 1/2 is jumping in. KP [link="http://files.fi
well after however long of letting it sit in the background the battle played out to a point where things started somewhat moving again... with me getting my arse handed to me with no micro, resupply and whatnot. So it is not an outright freeze, just a slowdown to the point where it looks like it has frozen, any suggestions? ty for patience and help. KP
and yes it does remain under load.... an update, after letting it sit for about 20 min it has jumped around a bit in the battle. Still quite unplayable
I can look around BEFORE the fleets engage using the pause/break button. Once the fleets engage it sits frozen, but no mini-dump, error message or even task manager saying Not Responding... just sits as if it wants to run it but can't. KP
Here are the fleets facing off, like i said its gonna be a big un. AI Advent 22 Diciple 2 Defense 60 Illum 26 Subjugator 37 Guardian 55 Drone Host 5 Purge 36 Crusader 3 Carrier 3 Mothership 3 Radiance 3 Rapture 1 Revelation 40 Fighter 40 Bomber Me Advent 10 Diciple 36 Crusader 27 Defense 7 Subjugator 26 Illum 20 Guardian 2 Radiance 2 Rapture Mothership Ca
and no i didn't hit the pause button, or any other stupid random thing like that.
The game freezes, not my comp. I can alt-tab out and make a post while the game sits frozen.
