well the only reason I OC the CPU is for Sins, most of the modern FPS games I oc the GPU. The reason being that since Sins has limited dual core support, you tend to be better off with more juice to the processor. In the interest of trying all possibilities, I reset everything to stock and the issue remains. edited 4/14 to include save game link I'm playing on a medium random map, things come down to me and one AI, both of us Advent. The AI sends in what I have to assume is his entire force at one of my planets where I have nice fleet to defend. Thanks once again for the model. Only improvement I can think of would be changing the 2D icon from a cobalt to something resembling a miranda, seems like something that should be able to be whipped up easily in photoshop (the limit of my "modding" ability :)), if someone could point me to where the 2D icons are stored I could give it a try. A B5 mod would be the greatest thing ever. Here are my thoughts... As great as it would be to be Minbari, Vorlon, or Shadows, how could you balance them? Any of these 3 declare war on you its over :). I would suggest one release with the younger and another where you can duke it out with the elder powerful races. Playing against more than 2 AI does become somewhat of an adventure. Just beat a medium map Maelstrom with 5 Hard Random AI and pirates, and I gotta tell ya it was one of the hardest things I've ever done in gamedom. Here are a few tips. First try and start by getting an Asteroid, Ice, Volcanic planet. That desert planet looks nice but now that they have a measly 2 resources I think getting it too early hurts your growth. From what I have been seeing (just finished another game), is that the AI is unwilling to fight a battle of attrition. A normal strat when outnumbered near or at a production center is to keep em busy and build/rebuild ships as they are destroyed and send em right back in. It means adjusting whatever economic plan you may have had to meet the situation, perhaps upping the fleet supply earlier than you would like. After 4-5 games vs hard I am not impressed with the AI changes. There are some little things it does to make things a bit harder, like when the AI has the advantage it waits to engage until you are deep into the well making it harder to just phase jump away ships taking damage, but for the most part it is just as easy to beat as before. Decided to OC my 5800+ from 2.8 to 3.0, and it was a crazy improvement. The game does just slam one core so I would think a single core over 3 may well be better than a dual core under 3. Wow what a mod. I love it. Love everything about it. Why is this not just in the standard game? It should be, they should pay Uzii and get it in there. Makes the games so much more interesting and dynamic. So much easier to get going with more things around that can be colonized without going 2 into civ.
