Companies see cash when they speak multiplayer. Some way...some how... Why bother creating a good ai? Let the players mix it up. Why bother balancing units? We can always say you got beat by a better player. I play single player only...I deal with enough assholes during the day, not letting them ruin my entertainment also. I am thrilled Skyrim had the balls to forgo multiplayer and focus on a great SP experience. And it sold a ton. Can't say I'm

Lets not fool ourselves Sins moving to Steam has anything really to do with multiplayer. Although I'm sure there are features for the very small multiplayer crowd, this will put Sins on a lot more hard drives than if sold retail(joke) or on a Stardock owned delivery system. Which is a good thing. The great benefit of Steam is game pricing, you can really find some bargains, and for the crowd that hates Steam, they will find they ar

I'm curious of a few things: Why didn't Stardock publish? What the business relationship between Ironclad and Stardock nowadays? Does this mean that Ironclad is done with Sins? Who owns the intellectual property of the Sins universe? Online? Multiplayer? Join Friends? Nope.

From Page: Years ago Ironclad began with 5 people and the ambitious goal of creating a unique mix of real-time and 4x strategy. After years of sweating it out in a basement and being constantly rejected by publishers, we finally struck a deal, got an office, expanded to 10 people and released the highly acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire. Fans and critics loved it so we kept the content coming. While we love science fiction, we also love fantasy so we started working in parallel on a ne

I want s/c to autodock. Not pretty standing by motionless with no enemies in system. Not to mention all those s/c out of the bays needlessly has to eat clock cycles.
GoaFan77, Stardock first raised the white flag to Valve and Steam when they sold off Impulse to GameStop and said "goodbye" to being a provider of digital downloads and a competitor to Steam. This was inevitable after that and the death of Impulse::Reactor.
Exactly when Stardock sold off Impulse the hand writing was on the wall. I can't see someone who loves this game not play it because of Steam.

IMHO The weakest thing about Sins is the ship design, except for the few good ones of each race, most are huh? To me ships should look like spacecraft, I like to see doors, windows and bridges. Call me old- fashioned. I guess that why I play TEC exclusively in vanilla Sins.

Isn't this thred about a Rebellion preview? What's with the Steam bitchfest? Is Steam perfect? No.but I consider myself the type to keep my machine clean and Steam doesn't give me major headaches. I recently built a new machine, downloaded Steam, all my games were there just had to right click to reinstall. No looking for disks, codes, updating game to latest ver. etc. There is a off line mode..as just recently Skyrim had a issue with a patch, being

The other thing is does the Rebel/Loyal races share a common beginning and then branch off to separate ships/tech? Or from the very begining ships and such are different? I thought it was going to be more along the lines of you had a decision to make at some point mid game, and your other options would be greyed out. If each race is determined at setup you could have just forgone the whole Rebel/Loyalist stuff and made them different races entirely. &nbsp

I can think of some advantages to your pending system. Loyalists and Rebels could be set as opposing teams. Therefore creating 6 true teams/races, as opposed to 3 teams/races, which branch off. I still would like to decide mid game which side to choose though.
Initially we had planned to go this route, but it proved to be confusing to testers. As such, you must now choose to be rebel or loyalist during game setup.
Not happy with this, was hoping to determine which faction to choose mid game depending on my enemies strengths and weakness. You need smarter testers :) Isnt this what beta's for?

It would be great if you had the option in Rebellion not to join the sub factions. I'm guessing the new factions branch off the tech trees, if you had the choice to continue on with the regular techs, it would create a total of nine different races in Sins and three variations per race. Thoughts?

I know a house can't be built without a foundation. Kudos to Ironclad for that, but it amazes me that guys on their spare time are able to make a more interesting world than the original development team. Great work.

Can I use my seven year old Audigy in my soon to be built Windows 7 64 bit machine? Or should I forgo a sound card altogether and use onboard?

Reply to Titans in Sins Rebellion

My thought is all Titans don't have to be huge things. One Titan could be small fast and uber powerful in it's on right, something like a Defiant class ship. They really need to diversify the races, just cause one race has a huge Titan, doesn't mean every race should get one. Maybe one race might get a uber defensive perk as it's "Titan". Btw I would love if every planet upgrade had some type of graphical representation (cities).

What would be nice is if you did not have to join any faction tech.....that would make it nine faction routes.

Anyone else think the hardcoded one Titan per team is kind of game limiting? Not that I would as I love fleets, but what if someone just wants to forgo a fleet and use their fleet points for 2 maybe three Titans? btw my gut tells me this game is still 8 months from release.

I still remember doubling my ram to a whopping 8 megs for Wing Commander 3 Eye the Tiger. When Mark Hamill jumped in the cockpit to launch, the extra ram shorted the loading time by 32 secs...boy life was good...
