I heard that 5 grams of antimatter + matter = 15 kilotons of destructive energy
1 gram of antimatter + 1 gram of matter = 1.8 x 10^14 Joules = 43 kilotons of TNT 1 kilogram of antimatter + 1 kilogram of matter = 1.8 x 10^17 Joules = 43 megatons of TNT http://www.projectrho.com/rocket/rocket3x.html I'm not sure how much energy from matter/antimatter reaction is lost through neutrinos and other particles, but it'd make bang.
secondly you got a probleem with 3DS Max only (professionals) will have this program....
/me laughs at this naive statement. Really autodesk do not expect hobby modelers to pay $3000 for their product. There are cheap educational licenses and there are of course other ways to aquire their software. I personally use Blender which is open source, but trust me when I say there are A LOT of amateurs who use software that costs more than the computer they run it on.

Rhelamos - It's probably something to do with how ships fly through something with the viscosity of water that makes people prefer long thin ships, or we're just used to 'ships' being long and thin. Bubb9 - Drop it.

I think the argument is far too ridiculous to take seriously at all tbh. Either way we should stop derailing the thread about it.

Ensign: "Captain? Why does this warship have cathedral sized windows and 40 foot high ceilings?" Captain: "It's better for morale ensign." Ensign: "But with all the money spent on this massive warship, most of it's volume consists of wasted air-" Captain: "Morale ensign! Morale. Also air is important in space" Ensign: "But we could fit a basket ball court in this room alone, that would have been better for morale, and as for air-" Captain: "Quiet ensign, you'll never f
This whole argument based on window size is ridiculous! It DOES NOT present an accurate scaling system while the actual models do here I'll import them and kill this argument(your hopeless if you want to argue after that). Here we are case closed.
*Facepalm* You have again failed to get the point. It's not about how the models look when scaled next to each other, it's about the texture and how the features on the texture make the model look. The human sized details (wi

Congratulations on your condescending reply pointing out something I already know and acknowledge. You have to acknowledge the fact that the units and tech trees of the factions have far more similarities than they have differences. Most RTS games will have some differences in the units and tech of each faction, but they will follow a basic pattern and they will be similar with equivalent (if not identical) tech and units for each faction. In this game we have our scout frigate, light frigate, a

One thing I was dissapointed about when I started playing Sins is that the units and technology for all factions seem to be pretty much the same. Sure the tech trees are slightly different, but they appear to be mostly equivilant tech for each faction with something different at the very end. What I'm wondering is if there would be interest in seeing factions that are radically different from those currently seen in the game. For example a faction that specializes in the use of cheap, fas
Under the screenshot of a Kodiak I wrote "Looks like a bus, but at least it hits like one too". Hehe, yeah, TEC ships look funny. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO. They are trade, cargo and tourist vessels hastily armored, armed and sent into combat by the dozens, and they sure look the part. Make them longer so they look more ship-like? Umm.. why? They're not ships, they're space vessels. I should refer you to Atomic Rocket so you can learn some science.Yes, you just saw me playing the Science! card

And if you compare them to a reasonably sized planet, they should be thousands of kilometers in length... The relative size of the models is irrelevant because there are no useful reference points in space. When you're actually looking at the ships, the detailing has to give it scale. Let's look at the TEC light frigate When you look at it you will notice that the windows seem to give the impression of an appr

I'm not much of a fan of some of the ship models in this game. One of the problems I think, particularly with the TEC capitals, is that the window detailing makes them look too small. By the window sizes I wouldn't say that they're much longer than 300 meters. I think if you're going to call something a capital ship it needs to at least break the 1km mark. Also while they do look functional, 'functional' doesn't necessarily have to mean 'lego blocks'. [img]http://www.scifi-mesh

Yeah, Blender supposedly exports into a lot of formats, I haven't used .xsi but from the formats I have used it doesn't usually export without any problems. when exporting to .obj for example (a standard 3d format), blender will neglect to include any texture maps. I once exported a model that I had spent time applying over 100 tiling texture maps to, then had to re-apply them all in 3ds max's clunky materials interface. I hope it goes smoothly, but in the event that it doesn't

I don't think that autodesk really expects hobby modelers to buy 3ds max for £3500. I think there there is an educational license aswell

What format will you need to export that ship into by the way? I use blender a lot and one thing that never goes smoothly is exporting into a usable format. It doesn't even have an internal scale system, so you could get your ship into the game and it'll be microscopic, or planet sized... Hmmm... planet sized ships By the way it's very good for your first ship, I've seen some first attempts in blender that would make your eyes bleed.
