Ok, I am all but ready to gve up on my point already, but here we go... @ #17 Ok, so no enemy means no military, I get that. But does it mean no advancement?? I mean the TEC ships seem barely space capable to me, let alone a realistic defensive force. If they didnt have enemys shouldnt their ships have become very fast effiecient trading ships after thousand of years with a vast interstellar trading network & all, I mean what did they do all that time, just remain st

Well I have been playing w/ the miranda for a lil' while now and all I have to say is WOW! It felt so good to see a trek ship in Sins! I only got one beef & believe me its not really a "beef" at all. The Miranda is placed as a frigate,(which is where it belongs) but as a frigate I cant go exploring and liberating the galaxy in just the one ship. Not that I really could in just one cap ship mind you, but I could beef it up to survive longer if I wanted. Anyway the "beef" as i

Ok, I get all that, & I am not saying that the humans in the game should be peace loving. I totally agree with #6 & #8 But if we were so "into violence" we would have much more efficent killing methods then our current or experimental levels of weapons technology. I look at it this way, what have these humans been doing all this time before the vasari showed up? Obviously they advanced enough for space travel and mass colonization & then became traders (which is

I see, so despite the passing of hundreds of years & humanitys pension for advancing our technology (Quantum Computers). I should expect to see toasters, kevlar & technology we already possess now?!? All I am trying to say, is that after the passing of that much time & knowing what we know about ourselves as a culture, I would think we would have far more advanced technology then even the experimental weapons of today. If its something that has already been thought up or even tested (rail gu

@ #3 & #4 Those are some good points, however I still have to dis-agree. Your trying to convince me that after thousands of years and the ability to colonize hundreds of worlds, they cant do any better then steel & bullets..... please. Even if they had abandoned weapons development they would have had some other advancded technology like really fast engines for their trade ships or something. But I certainly will never agree that humans aquired the technology to travel thro

I just want to be clear here, we are taking about humans far far into the future & the best they can do is rail guns??? Seriously?!?! If the idea of rail & gauss guns have been around for years already, I, personally, find it difficult to believe that a human society hundreds or thousands of years beyond that would even still be using technology of that nature. I mean lets be honest, we as a "race" cant wait for the next, new proccessor or video card... or game (winks). It is a logic

Ok, Alot of people are probably gonna disagree with this..... (namely the dev.'s) but here we go....=P In many "Sci-Fi Genre's" future humans are usually portrayed as being quite advanced, at least technologically, if not culturely as well & this has always been an aspect of Sci-Fi that I have enjoyed. It is my opinion that the human race is more likely to advance and save it self then to fall into decay. We are just to damn stubborn for that...=P</P

Well this is tough.... lol I want to see screenshots of your progress...... but then when I do, the thought of star trek ships being out there somewhere but not availible is un-bearable!!!!! =P Seriously, you guys should really consider releasing some of your ships for play, or mabey a beta or a demo.... lol GREAT WORK guys, keep it up! :CONGRAT:

These are some awesome idea's! Thought I would throw my two cents in since the developers actually read this stuff (SO COOL!!!) Stealth: This would be such a cool addition to gameplay I think, but it shouldnt be done w/ a "cloak" device. That always seemed unlikely to me. Electronic Emmission Control however and a "stealth mode" should be added to all of the ships, but is very dangerous. As an example, in stealth mode a ship would not be detectable unless it go

@ Milk Mclane If you have a mod enabled at all, it would go into those folders. If not, I believe it can be installed right into the main directory. But MAKE BACK-UP'S!!! lol Can never be to careful right...

@ Milk McLane It will & wont work with Mars Effect, since my mod replaces the ships in game info, the Mars Effect changes will be overwritten. But the other changes the Mars Effect makes, like for the pirate raids & such should be un-affected. As for 1.02, I am not sure, give it a whirl & let us know.. @ Grottenholm The link you provided doesn't seem to lead to anything. At any rate, I am happy you got what you wanted out of the rail guns. :CONGRAT:

No need, next update has blue/white Mark 2 rail guns (Atlantis) and yellow mark 1 rail guns(Prometheus & SG-1) along with short burst counts. Will be able to release it very soon, today mabey tomarrow, but soon. Also, I wanted to point out, the link you gave was to the Siege episode of Stargate Atlantis & if you watch that episode the commander specifically instructs the soldiers to fire "Short steady bursts" in many other episodes where the prometheus is fighting Wraith hive ships, th

Well, Both...lol, the Rail guns is just a graphic's change, but since more ships are ordered to use them, it alters gameplay in the sense that autocannon research will do you more good the lazer tec research. However, I am working on an update that will make alot of the ships revert back to their original weapons or to use lighter versions of the current rail gun so that there is more variety & so lazer research will have value again. Essentially though, it is just a graphics

I would be happy to make the lighter rail guns yellow (like for the flak frigate) but there are a couple things we will have to agree to disagree on.... lol I personally like the burst counts and rate of fire (Bright Snake) the way they are but I am sure its really nice your way too. I also have to disagree on the cyaan colored rounds. I wanted the weapons to be like Stargate Atlantis as I said in the first post but not exactly like them. Hence cyan instead of purple white.

Hello, Well where to start, I guess you could say that there were several things I would have liked to see changed up a bit & so I set out to do so. After doing so I thought others might enjoy playing with it, so I figured I would go ahead and release them... Rail Guns- Well I wasnt to fond of the stock TEC weapon scheme & wanted something closer to the rail guns seen in Stargate Atlantis. So after a few small tweaks this is wh

@ Chexmix2 I had that problem too but I found a way to fix it, at least for my self. There is a User.setting file here: C:\Documents and Settings\Jacob\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting In that file there will be a line like this: MaxParticleCount 6000 MaxAsteroidCount 10000 MaxDustCloudParticleCount 5000 I changed my max particle count to something much higher & it fixed that issue. For some reason it al

I saw another thread like this one in which I posted my appreciation for the game and its makers, However, I have no problem with making another post that says the same thing. *Raises a glass to the Dev.'s & anyone else who made Sins happen or continues offer support for the game. As I said in the other post, YOU GUYS DESERVE MEDALS!!! Which brings me to my next point.... "Has anyone else noticed that the badges the devs get on the forums have gradually improved with

Now here is a topic worth posting in! Sins of a Solar Empire ROCKS!!!!!! It is by far one of the best games I own now and I personally feel that the Dev.'s would have to work pretty hard to screw it up. You guys deserve freakin' medals or something! =P

Hello, I made a map for 1.03 that I was thinking of releasing. It can produce somewhat similar situations though. It's a very simple map called Forgotten Outposts, but the players start with an asteroid as their home planet and there isnt really anything else that can be colonized. That means that your fleet can never exceed two cap ships and some frigates and neither can your enemys, more over, the amount of credits that you earn from a single asteroid colony is EXTREMLY l

Ok, Apart from how "easy" or difficult it is & setting aside the fact that some people dont like Star Trek, (Irashi's post) I am still very confident that if we work together, we can produce not just the Enterprise-E but other ships as well. I would be more than happy to try and work on giving the enterprise the most appropriate in game weapons. Such as the Tech beam for phasers and Phase missles for quantum torpedeos. I believe I can also replace the sounds associated with those wea
