It say's researchPrerequisites NumResearchPrerequisites 0 So as far as I know, no. This is very anoying. Everytime I try to mod I run into some stupid brick wall.

Yes because I did other thing's with the mod like I changed some of the max research lvl's so I know that the mod is activated and I check everytime I test it.
Ok so i went and changed the heavy cruiser's ability to: ability:0 "AbilityBoostMorale" Which I know is a non-cap ship skill but it still doesnt show up. Now Im completly lost on what I should do. Any idea's?

Well there many mod's that are going to be coming out that are going to be adding new ships. I dont think any of the current mod's have new ship's though but just wait a little longer.

Id like to thank you all for your input on this. I for one dont thing it requires much talent to mess with the Reference file's. Model's probably a little bit more but it's mostly about gathering the money to pay for 3d-studio max or what have you. Ive been working on a mod for awhile and who know's... Hello, Ive been making mods for my self but I never really decided to put one up on the site. Reasons why are to be explained... Ive havent visited the Sins forums in about a month but before I left it seemed that any new mod was shot down by the already existing big deal modder's. Most of them complained and trolled there posts by saying "Oh why dont you try doing something different
I recommend downloading galaxy Forge from the download section of the site. Much easier and better then the map designer.
The folder that you say doesnt exist is most likly hidden. Go to My Computer and at the top type in the following: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire (Replace username with the Username you are using) In this folder you should see a Mod's folder. If you dont right click and create new folder and name it "Mods" Open that folder and Put the Mod in there. Hope thats what was wrong. If not sorry.
Well they are pretty rare. I was making a personal mod and was messing with the terran planet file and I came across the ring spawn chance and it say's 1% chance of spawning. So yea there rare. Gas Gaints have a much higher spawn chance
I understand what your saying Astax but a planet thats for trading shouldnt have as much defence as a military base. Thats just my opinion though.

Thank's for your input! Id just like to add how I thought about this. This idea came up after playing sins and noticing that I had a planet wtih 4 trading post and 15 defence turrets, 2 hanger defence, A sheild Generater and a Repair bay. Now A trading planet shouldent be able to have that much defence if you ask me. They should be reletivly defenceless (Only about 5-10 turrets max for defending the trade post perhaps.) Well first make sure you have the first files. The files that came with the game arent in the format. Download the refrence data here: https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/downloads.aspx Next When you click on the file to open it select a word program and it will turn the file into a text document for editing. Sorry for not responding sooner. Ok so I got the map working...well sorta. Still run into the who mini dump issue that makes the game unplayable 1-2 hours into the game :( Great looking map though.
