Excuse me for being a noob, but what do you mean by "resource files"?And what is actually edited; the game itself, meaning only you can play the mod, or a map, meaning others can play as well?
Im so sorry i meant the Refrence data in the download section at the bottem of the page. I always get them mixed up. The recource file is in the reference data and thats what you need.
Aight, thanks. But that means you can't jsut make a game online, with the mod, and have other people play it with ya right off the bat?
If they have the same mod as you then there should be no problem but I havent tried online enough to know. Most likly what will happen though like will so many games is when the person tries to join it will kick them out and give them a message saying something like "The match you are trying to join is currently useing a differen
One more question... Is it possible to add "quests". I would like to add more quests to add more of a variety and importance to some and make other less important. You could but i can really only think of one way to do it. You would have to alter the missions entity or create new ones as well as alter the times given and rewards but thats easy. Though seeing as you can only in effect be destorying ships, population, or defences of enemies im not sure what kind of quests you could have...[/
Well Thats a very broud question imo but heres whare you start... Go to downloads and download the resource files. After that create a folder with the name of your mod in: C:\users\[Insert uer name where file may be]\appdata\local\ironclad games\sin of a soler empire\mods Extract the Resource file using a program like WinRAR to your mods folder. Open the Game Info File Inside the resource folder thats in your mods folder. And finnaly mod awa

Geneticly enhanced humans makes more then a few hundred people living on a planet impossible do to the amount of food they must eat.

Ok so basicly my question is- When I make a mod do i need to put everything in (Game info, Mesh, Particle, Window) When Im just modding the game info folder? The reason im asking is right now when ever i mod a bunch of data in the game info folder and try to load the mod up my game crashes and mini dumps on the enable mod screen. Why would this affect it is beyond me but Ive ran out of options and Im dieing trying to get my mods to work.
Problem.. Takes way to long to get anyplace. And the up loader never loads.
Ya if you set the scale of your map to a really high number it will do that. I set my scale to 1 mill so it would look more massiv but when i played it took a ship several hours to travel from one planet to anouther...Perfect if you like realism. Sorry for not anserign your question though
40$ is a bit much?!?! What kind of world are you living in cus i want to go there! the avg console game goes for 60$ and PC game goes for 50$. Sins is more then well pricedSome people don't see video games as being worth the price tag, even if it's $40. It doesn't matter if the average price is higher, it's still not worth that much to to them.
Ahh makes sence to me now. :) Edit: Seems like the type that would downlaod it off a torrent

I personaly dont see what the big deal is with giving the demo player 1 small map,1v1v1 locked teams, Unlimited time, fleet cap is set at 1k. That would be near perfect for a demo. People could sit down and relax and enjoy the demo one, twice, three times. Then after they start getting bored of the same encounters they can go out and buy the real game. 90 minutes for me personaly isnt enough time to get to know the game when it comes to RTS'es. Luckly for me I jsut went out and bought th
I think the galexy editor is great and all but I would really like to see alot added to it. In other games I played(WC3) There was many things you could do that I would love to see in this games map editor. -Object Editor: This tool allows you to edit all the ship/module's/planets/ability's/and buff's right in game in a nice user freindly interface instead of having to sift through your files and f
Ok so i got a fresh gameinfo and put the mods in it...so far everytihng is going great! Ill post if it does it again. Thanks for the help and sorry for being such a noobie.
No, that was a generalisation. There should be exactly 896 files, thats direct from the Reference Data 1.03 folder. Can you identify the two new files?
Yes i was but the 2 extra files where one i just added but even still the fresh gameinfo folder found on he site only has 895 files EDIT 1: Ya im going to reinstall the reference data just incase i might have deleted a file of one got corrupted or something
Acually i have 898 files in the folder. Is that to many?Where the hell did all the extras come from???
Sorry 895 but i have a feeling thats still way high isnt it.
Edit: In light of the above posts; sounds like a string or count error. You do have every single file in the GameInfo folder right? All 800 of them?
Acually i have 898 files in the folder. Is that to many?
Adding damage to banks that dont have emitters (What you have done in Uzii's 1st two examples) should NOT hang the game, the weapons wont work but the game should still load.
NOTE: THE GAME FREEZES WHEN I ENABLE THE MOD! NOT WHEN I START A GAME! Also i fixed the stats and reduced the range to 25k instead of 55k and its still freezing. Im going to take the 3 mod's i did and put them into a free gameinfo folder and see if it still happens just incase i mig
Ok thanks for that information. Ill try fixing those. I never new about any of that. EDIT:I still am unable to find the count number anyware on the file. Would it be at the top of the text when i open it in a word document? Would it be in the file propertys?
Count Number? You got me there. Im still getting used to modding without a program.
