I already love stardock after 2 days. You guys have the best community feedback I have ever seen.
What does this post has to do with the thread's topic, as formulated by the OP ? Is it really necessary to spam threads with "we love you Stardock guys" posts ? To remain on-topic, I will state that my in-game, DG nick still remains totally alien to my chosen nick : the game stubbornly refuses to recognize the new Impu

Changes to your nick should transfer over to demigod within 24 hours.
Well ... kryo ... that's in theory. As you very well know, it doesn't quite work like that, as I have repeatedly informed you on past threads. I have the latest update, and still, my in-game nick does not match our home account/log-in, Impulse ni
@ X-Raider : It is never "silly" to ask a question. Computer game developers often use the Greek alphabet to label the series (A/B/G) of major phases in the development of computer games : 1. ALPHA builds (letter A) 2. BETA builds (letter B : which include internal betas and public betas) 3. GAMMA pre-gold-master builds (letter G : comes before the D of DELTA, in the Greek language, skipping C) Not all developers test Gamma builds : often

In reply #5, I was refering to the first of the two March 19 updates : 0.95.03 3 . When I left the game program, around 10 : 36 PM (New York time), just before reporting here, I was not aware that a 0.95.03 4 update had been released (or was about to) to fix the problems raised by 0.95.033. I have not tested 0.95.034 yet.
Quoting [AC]DalzK (reply #2) : « Is this with the second update? (There were two today, first one messed everything up, second one was meant to fix it) » Sorry for the double post. I was trying to join games yesterday evening, from 9 : 50 PM (New York time) to 10 : 35 PM. I was using the first update (0.95.033). I was not aware, at that time, that a second update (0.95.034) either had&nbs
I could join games fast and fine during version 0.94.033, but after the small 0.95.033 update (March 19), I could not connect to join. The NAT Traversal phase got completed (all players green), but the Connecting to Players phase never completed. Going back to the main lobby to rejoin did not work. Restarting the whole game program did not work. I played into one of the two games _Mercury_ mentioned in his reply #3 (the one where he was surprised by my presence)
There won't be further beta updates to the gameplay itself. Just connectivity updates.
Well, for me, the connectivity was worse on the first evening (March 19) of version 0.95.033's release than during the previous version (0.94.033). I then had no problems joining games (at last!), but on the evening of March 19, I could not join one single game. NAT Traversal did complete, with the all players becoming green, but the "

I agree with you _Mercury_ A "general" should have the RTS-style command powers of a true general, directing and commanding waves of reinforcements, and not "simply" be pseudo-assassins with a retinue of minions.
With the unbelievable amount of optimism in these boards, any critisicm/disdain for the game is generally met with wild flailing hands and gnashing of teeth. To question Stardock's/GPG's design or policies is like asking to be lynched. There's a real lacking openess in these forums where criticism, expressions of disapointment, and angry complaints are not tolerated.
I agree with that part of your statement. Enou
Since the last iteration of code the freezes have returned. Seems similar to the ones from the second last beta, occurring when new assets are loaded.
I agree. It happens to me now, even though it did not happen before! The game pauses for a few seconds. I even temporarily lose all keyboard-and-mouse functionality, and a weird sound comes out from my hard-drive. That never happened in the previous iterations of the code ...

Tonight, there was some very slight progress in my attempting-to-join-games saga. The screen with the angels and the swords became the background to a smaller center screen displaying this information : « NAT Traversal Complete. Connecting to Players.
BUGGY. Oh god [Beta 3 is] buggy. Forget playing multiplayer unless you close the game (exit to Windows) between each game attempt. [...] Connectivity MUST BE BULLET PROOF.
We've only had Internet multiplayer in for about a month and a half.
What ?!?! ... So when I was hosting games in December and November, with some users joining my games by the Internet, I was hallucinating ?! I'm 58¾-years old : my memory must be playing tricks on me. (But I'll recognize that my "5¾ months" figure was inflated.) What I meant is this : I've been in the beta for 5¾ months, and un
In ALL versions of the Beta, for the past 5¾ months, I have never, ever, succeeded in joining a game, even though I can have other people join my games when I host. (I enjoy a very fast and stable Internet connection (high-speed cable).)
I still cannot join a game, and now, it is worse : once started I cannot cancel the join-game process. I get stuck on the pretty angels-with-swords-with-sunset image. No in-program key can get me out of there except the Windows control-alt-delete/kill-process trick. What a progress! Oh well : I still can host or play alone against the A.I.
Beta 3. I have never succeeded in joining a game in the previous versions of the Beta, even though others could easily join my games when I hosted. Now, with Beta 3, my situation is worse ! In the previous versions, I could easily abort the joining process when it took too much time. Now, when I try to join a game, I get stuck on the full-screen image of the "angels" with swords and sunset. I can move my mouse cursor, but my whole screen is filled by
I uninstalled Beta 2 yesterday, totally and completely, and I'm now downloading Beta 3 at a steady 880 KB/sec.
Not for me either, at 09:02 (EST), and I'm pressing F5 like a frantic, freaking maniac.
Thanks, Gnats3 : that worked ... but still no Beta 3 at 08 : 44 PM (EST). And thanks to the next poster : F5 is even faster !
How do you refresh Impulse ? I don't see any refresh button, like in IE.
Waiting for Stardock's beta of Elemental (June 2009?) my daughter ("Sorceresss") and I ("CyberMage") are still regularly playing at Heroes of Might and Magic V : Tribes of the East (released in October 2007). It's our favourite genre : turn-based, sword-and-sorcery, Grand Strategy.
