Playing 2-player Lan with one serial in Sins of a Solar Empire Sins Forums

I have an issue getting a LAN game going that I'd like to resolve but I'm having no luck working it out. I'm working away from home right now and would like to set up a lan game of Sins with a colleague. We don't have much internet access, only spotty access through a 3G dongle.
