I hate to be the troll here, but I bet Kruelgor feels that way because he gets fraged every time he joins a FPS FFA. Plenty of people play and enjoy FPS and most of them would agree it requires great skills to be a good FPS player, me being one of them. Before you go and outright call FPS gamers "grunts by instinct" "peons" "mindless zombies", you should consider that MANY of the top strategy gamers are also top FPS gamers and enjoy both. Anyway,I don't thing this has much to do with th

Many types of strategies are viable in different situations. The way you describe it,though, you are too slow to expand. Also, make sure(if you want to refine fortifying strategy) you don't ONLY focus on that, and you don't forget the '4X' part. If you do that, refine any strategy you like; some may end up unusable, some may become killer strategies. Thats the whole fun about it isn't it? if there was one sure-fire formula, like a FPS, then it wouldn't me much fun as a strategy game would it? B

You should give the advent another try, they're pretty neat. On larger maps, their culture superiority really shines, and it makes a big difference. Having a 10%(researchable) bonus over your opponents on all planets, including resource ones, and therefore planet income, turns out to be a big economic advantage. And, as frequently remarked on these forums, the advent have the best mid to end-game fleet synergies

OMG.. IDIOTS!!!! You believe everything you read? Go turn the game on, build multiple factories, start the build que selecting the planet and zoom into the factories.. see what happens. Try other tests, like que only 1 ship and see if it builds faster. It'll be painfully obvious where the idiocy lies in this thread. I don't need to even say what happens because it'll be right in front of you. Aside from that point, yes OBVIOUSLY there are great benefits to building multiple factories.

So, according to these forums past few weeks, TEC econ is overpowered, needs nerfing? ADVENT malice is overpowered, needs nerfing? VASARI RA is overpowered, needs nerfing? my conclusion: TEC is/was a trade order. Advent are psychics. Vasari were conquerors via military. We have a balance here people! ...

I don't know about a CHEAT, but if you have upgraded to v1.03 you can disable pirates under game options. But if you enjoy the added activity of priates, you can do as above posts suggest, or if you haven't had the time to do that but do have enough cred income, you can just make sure you're not the one with the highest bounty on your head a split second before a raid starts.

Can someone explain to me what exactly does the change in "fleet size" affect? so far I've loaded games with large, med, and small fleet supply, and in all of them the max fleet supply research still reads 2000. Am I completely misunderstanding what this is supposed to mean?
As for the rental idea, that's just a headache that nobody on either side (developer or rental house) wants to deal with. Is the average high-school part-timer at Blockbuster going to have any idea how to deal with you if you have an issue getting the game to work? Is the average customer going to be happy spending half their rental period surfing forums and trying to fix the problem on their own?
Well, I was presenting the idea in light of everything else on this threa

Something i've not seen brought up on this thread, which surprises me: A lot of the piracy problem (and reasons mentioned here) would simply go away if you could RENT PC games again. Do publishers STILL honestly think it's harder for someone actively looking to pirate to download a cracked version than to copy the rented game and return it? Like you hinted, 1 player alone against 3+ hard AI(on one team) in locked team on a huge map with few bottle necks (AI has no idea how to use these, and if you end up using them, AI has a brain freeze). That ought to get you through to v1.03. Disproportional team sizes seems the only surefire way right now :( .Oh, and get the shortest phase lanes if you're making a map your self, so at least the fleet chasing doesn't take as long
