Putting the obvious troll [e digicons]:troll:[/e] aside, if something like this were to be theoretically successful, it should not follow the 'Battlestar Galactica' format of character & plot 'development'. StarGate tried to go that route with it's latest series as did TerraNova and they flopped hard because there was no back-bone substance other than the aforementioned 'development' that was ripped free from the BSG series. To be successful and truly be worth

These are actually interesting ideas ... carry on! [e digicons]:D[/e]
In my experience they do help performance to some extent. *shrugs* I also unpin the feature tree as that is literally a second instance of every ship in your gravity wells. Un-pinning everything it also reduces late game lag.
I contacted Baen about this. Turns out that David Weber is actually the cause for the cease and desist.
With all due respect I find that statement to be highly suspect. Baen Books is notorious for cease and desist actions on projects related to a multitude of the books that it publishes. If needed I can start the laborious process of digging up reference after reference as well as letters and correspondence with Da

I think that is a good question. The Collector's Edition is technically a 'Physical DLC Pack' anyways. :-)

So they could sink points into an ability that does not function until at some point they 'might' research and unlock the ability that they sunk points into. You still are not understanding. The points do absolutely nothing for the ability; they are ONLY affected by research. A player can sink 4+ points into the ability, and even if it has multiple levels, it will o

They're so handicapped in general as it is already. You are misunderstanding. If you have an ability that is unlocked by research on a capital ship, you can still sink ability points into it, even though those points will not actually do anything to the ability, essentially throwing those poin
So, I will be updating this at some point in the future when free time can be found. I plan to make a pretty hefty enhancement mod that 'theoretically' should be awesome. For the moment, I'm just going to slap a hap-hazard list down below which will be updated at some point, along with a proper title. Hopefully it would be applied over top of Distant Stars, which currently is still in their Rebellion Alpha stage. Consider this my scribbled sticky note:
Quoting Darvroth, reply 3392So what you are saying is for a captial ship ability list either all or none of the abilities must be researchable to prevent an AI priority problem? Yes. Researchable, or is automatically unlocked with a single level on ship build/completion.
... maybe I'm misunderstanding but for the AI this shouldn't necessarily be a problem ... right? Way love the Vasari artwork above. :-) Any chance for some TEC love in similar situations? (Say a Volcanic planet ... or being sucked out into space from Sinperium's 'broken' Kol?)
Saganami Island Tactical Simulator is an awesome tabletop game. I helped work on play testing and balancing the third ship book. That being said, David Weber is not the one that is preventing players from building mods but rather the publishing company that publishes his books that is. They have given cease and desist orders to quite a few mod projects, specifically the Homeworld 2 mod project nearly ten years ago was the most famous as it had gotten quite far. There is
