So the thousands of years of human history before video games were invented were a bleak and joyless wasteland of unfunness? There are plenty of things you can do besides video games to have fun, if you can't afford to obtain them legitimately.
I don't like to disagree with you, but... it's kinda hard to umm, find other things to do, when everyone else you know is playing some video game or other. I used to try to find people to have a game of baseball or something now an

For the past 8-10 years I've pirated almost every game I've bought before I purchased it, excepting this one, actually. I didn't care if I hated the game or not, I would have purchased it simply to support stardock and its anti-DRM policy. I have, in fact, since purchased their object desktop suite and a few other things as well, though I'll probably never use them. There are several reasons for this: #1 Demos are terrible. The last GOOD and ACCURATE(note, more important than good) demo
actually once the site has loaded the first time its not too bad, at least for this site. takes about 5 mins, but only around 20-30 seconds/page afterwards. Picture heavy sites are ridiculous though. 10 mins + for ebay if I happen to clear my cache. But hopefully I get out of this place where I'm stuck on dialup before 1.1 comes out, not being able to download new stargate: atlantis episodes is making me actually have to attempt to watch them at the right times on the space channel :S
As I mentioned Tribes 2, and you brought up re-releasing, there's something I think more publishers should do with 'good' games.Go in, update the engine to take advantage of new hardware, make sure it *RUNS* on newer hardware, pretty up the graphics, dust off old bugs, add in new features, and re-release that sucker. Imagine if Bioware did that with Baldur's Gate 2.
Agreed 100% BG2 Redux or something would make a bloody fortune. The closest thing available right now is th
Just to let everyone know... I just played a game of sins online on a 28.8k dialup connection, about 1/2 to 1 seconds lag time between actions and receipt of actions, so no competitive playing for sure, but IT WORKS. Yes, I thought this should go into the technical forum b/c it obviously must be a bug in the game. Even old games that I've played that are DESIGNED to run on dialup don't work this well. God bless you IC, God bless.
Cheers to the idiot publishers that said it wouldn't sell well to the german market! Cheers to you guys as well, hopefully something can be conglomerated for 1 big mod/fansite for sins.
I think that culture should flip enemy planets to friendly tho... not neutral, I mean, you essentially just converted the entire population to your cause... sooo... just my 2 cents, would also fix culture a bit and balance out advent better.
no it's not fucked up.Normal mitigation is 57%. Lets say 60% for ease.So you take 40% damage. If you take 4% less, 4 is 1/10th of 40. So you take 10% less damage. Advent getting nearly 90% mitigation(with gaurdians and all tech) isn't taking 1/10th damage, it's taking 1/4th, as you should be comparing it to the other races have 57%.The math is correct, you're just adding it up wrong. What you're missing is if they could take 8% less instead of 4%, that's nearly 95%. Then they're taking

https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/update There ya go :) Download/patch... I had issues with the SDC version, all it did was change the version number Also, I had the same issue with an entire fleet chasing a scout out of the gravity well they were in, in fact they chased it 2 full systems before they killed it(small fleet, not many strike craft) and I finally noticed where the heck they were.
I'm not a pirate and I'm not lying when I say I would not pay a subscription for a game. I like playing games. I find it relaxing, but it's not so important to me that I'd be willing to pay monthly fees of any kind for a game. If it comes to the point where games require that, I'll stop playing new games and stick with the ones I already own. If you don't believe that, well, it doesn't make any difference to me what you believe. But I will not pay a subscription fee for games. You're right
I love all the people who say "If you don't play the way I want you to, don't play online" like they have some kind of authority. You have no right whatsoever to tell others how to play this or any other game, or in what capacity they may or may not use the product they payed good money for. Only SD/IC has that right, and even then it's a gray area. If you don't like the way someone plays, don't play with them anymore. No one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to play with thes
I'm probably the only Sins player who doesn't like the Empire Tree. I wish I could minimize it entirely. I mainly don't like the fact that you can't scroll it while paused, which is an annoyance I keep running into over and over. I also hate the way the pip boxes dominate the screen when there are large fleets. In general, I find it awkward to rearrange fleets in this game. I dread the thought of having to split a large fleet in half. I've experimented with that quite a bit, and I just
Advent shield mit tec is EXTREMELY good. It makes you take 10% less damage than normal at level 2.If it was 8% advent would be able to take something like 1/20th damage over their current 1/10th and tec's 1/3rd.
Christ, I need to start sleeping regularly. My maths for that one was f***ed up good, I just started looking at things that might need a tweak after I read your post and did some quick(and wrong) calcs in my head. That'll teach me to post an idea 2 minutes after

I agree with pretty much everything there... even the numbers for the most part. As to annatars fears that they would negatively impact large maps... they wouldn't, if your playing vs 9 AIs by the time you have enough shit built/building that those techs in their current form would be even somewhat useful, you've got so much extra money lying around that it doesn't matter anyways, and you're only researching them simply because money doesn't mean a thing at that point. That is the very definiti
All trade ports get the same amount based on the longest possible path between two of them (measured in jumps)
Not entirely true, any trade port not connected to the main "chain"(the big white line you see when hovering over credits amount) only gets an income based on the longest distance between it and the end of what I call one of the "misfit chains" But all trade ports on the same chain will generate the same amount of income each. For the rest, yeah, phase
I guess when I get the chance next weekend I will swap parts between computers and isolate the problem, and if the problem continues then would that show it is a software problem? If you swap the HD into his computer, and it continues there, its probably something with the software on the HD, yes -- assuming the HD itself doesn't have a problem (run scandisk on it... ). However, that will still leave the possibility that your OS is screwed up to contend with so its hardly a final diagnos
If your not installing from an administrator account, switch to one and try the install again. If you are, you COULD try creating a new admin account and installing it from there, as the permissions file for the current account could be fragmented/somehow corrupted. This sounds like a permissions issue. If you THINK your using an admin account, but there are multiple accounts on the computer, try it on an account you KNOW for certain is an admin account. Worst case the registry
Haven't actually tried the link myself, but the first thing you should try is clearing out the temp files on whatever browser your using. Cookies and cached files primarily. Sometimes a cached file will become slightly fragmented or corrupt on your HDD but still load into the browser b/c the link address is all thats messed up, or the link could have been updated on the site to a new location and your computer is still trying to use an old one. After that its probably a broken link issue. The p
Not my play style, but you can still bite me OP.I call bullshit, this from the guy who'd play homeworld 2 for 2 or 3 hours just to max out his battlecruiser fleet and have his defenses all nice and shiny before he raped the AI Its just not your ONLY play style, it is, however, one of them, lolPfft, shows how much you know about HW2, those "defenses" maxed out can guard about one rock in space and not much more. And yes, i have maxed out my BC fleet just so i can watch them jump into the m
Yeah. SDC probably just checks file creation date tag against the ones it has for updating, since your tags would have been newer, it would have done a grand total of nothing, the same thing it did for anyone running 1.03. I'm assuming everyones having the problem with SDC, and they might not be. I have however heard some grumbling on IRC about it as well, so I'm guessing its just a problem with the SDC version. Of course I could be completely wrong about WHY its doing it, but it seems to be th
The AI also use bounty as a way to get players other than pirates to attack you (you get credits for destroying one's base if s/he has bounty on their head and who doesn't want free money?).
Also, I've never seen an AI do this before, ever. Its probably a bug, or it could be something like my last post
was one(or more) of the AIs advent? if so it could just be the karmic retribution thing tossing free bounty on you when you blow up a trade ship... I finished my Go Big or Go Home achievement game with over 30k bounty on my head from my cap ship fighters blasting trade ships.
